Chapter 34 - Chapter 17 Vivi's Misplaced Trust

He customized a contract scroll from the system, placed it on the ground for everyone to clearly see its contents.

"I am a Ninja, and I never refuse missions with high rewards. Ten billion Berries, this is the price you promised Nami to save you. It has been completed, and payment is due.

However, your mission did not mention subsequent tasks or involvement with the Seven Warlords of the Sea. This constitutes concealment of information and would put our lives in danger, so the reward is increased by 5 times, to 50 billion. And this is just for me. Luffy can forgo it, because he is a hot-headed, passionate idiot, but he is the Captain, so his fee is 60 billion. Zoro is very strong in combat, 30 billion. Sanji is the chef and also a main combatant, 20 billion. Usopp is just a sniper, with no close-combat ability. You dragged him into this, so 5 billion for his participation, plus 5 billion for emotional damages. Nami is a Navigator with no combat ability. Forget about the Shichibukai, any Executive today could kill her. Her emotional damages are 10 billion. These amounts, my portion I will collect. If others want to help you for free, I can't control them."

Vivi was a bit flustered, "Impossible, my country is in the midst of war, I can't produce that much money. I can't even get ten billion."

"What, you want to go back on your word? That's impossible. Has your country only just now been in war? No.

Did our actions cause your country's war? No, it didn't.

So, is your difficult situation only just now difficult? If you knew it was difficult, why did you make a promise and then involve innocent people?

Do you think the Seven Warlords of the Sea are some small-time pirates? You clearly knew what they represented, yet when Nami said there was no need to know, you blurted out Crocodile's name and were discovered by the unlucky duo.

You even clearly knew that the unlucky duo were monitoring you to transmit information, yet you didn't say anything, watching them pass on the news of Luffy and his Crewmates to Crocodile, didn't you?

What's wrong with us getting paid for helping you? Sign this contract and you are the employer, and I will not treat my employer badly.

Don't say you have no money. You are Nefertari Vivi.

There are many things that can be used to offset this more than 100 billion Berries. Or do you think saving your country from a Shichibukai isn't worth 100 billion?" Orochimaru had specifically searched his memories regarding the Nefertari family.

Vivi looked at Orochimaru, who was like a demon, and finally signed the contract. Luffy and Sanji did not want the money, but they did not object to the idea either, because they all sensed Orochimaru's strangeness, so the total amount was 110 billion Berries.

Orochimaru put away the mission scroll, hiding all emotions. His facial expression changed quickly, reminding him of his past Ninja life without thought, a time when missions were more important than human lives.

"Thank you for your patronage. From today on, you are my employer. Until the mission is over, I will do nothing to you. In the world of Ninja, those who abandon missions are regarded as trash, so you don't have to worry about me going back on my word."

Luffy clenched his fists, looking at the somewhat fractured Orochimaru, feeling stifled, but not knowing what to do. He pressed hard on his straw hat and punched the railing. Actually, he, Ace, Sabo, and even his grandfather all knew that Orochimaru definitely had deeper secrets, but because they were family, they didn't care. He didn't know how to deal with this stifling feeling, but Luffy knew he didn't like this feeling.

The atmosphere on the ship suddenly became heavy. Orochimaru came back to his senses, sighed, and slapped Luffy on the back of his head, healing the wound on his hand. "Idiot."

Luffy reacted and let out a silly chuckle.

Orochimaru was speechless. "That's my normal Orochimaru style, alright?" He looked at the flustered Sanji.

"Sanji, I want to eat cheese ramen now, with extra char siu and Naruto rolls, and a side of pan-fried dumplings."

"Oh, oh, oh… okay…" Sanji frantically put out his cigarette and went to cook.

Usopp wiped the sweat from his forehead, and finally, with a shark-like face, he turned to Luffy, "Hey! Luffy! Don't destroy the Merry!"

Nami, needless to say, $_$... She said she wanted to sleep hugging the scroll. This was 110 billion... This amount was equivalent to two Four Emperors. With this money, One Piece might not even be necessary.

Orochimaru inwardly thought, "There's no need for that." He actually planned to use the poneglyph to pay off his debt. That stone was valuable. The rest, he could sell some of the Nefertari family's collection, and that would also be several billion. He needed ample funds for his experiments and other people's research. The future was going to be very expensive.

Zoro hadn't spoken a word the entire time, just hugged his sword and peeked with one eye.

He even mischievously stroked Orochimaru's snake tail, which had perked up when he unconsciously transformed earlier.

"Don't touch me with hands that have picked boogers."

(*_*) Orochimaru angrily stormed off to take a bath. He felt dirty.

A red-faced Zoro, held back by Usopp, was in a fit of rage.

"I'll cut you! You cunning snake!"

Orochimaru, having finished his bath, was too lazy to get dressed. He directly transformed into his half-human, half-snake state, draped in a haori, and, wiping his hair, slithered to the side of the ship to admire the scenery.

"It's really great to have escaped from the pursuers, isn't it?" A strange female voice naturally interjected.

"Yes, it is," Nami subconsciously replied.

"Be sure not to let the ship hit any reefs, okay?" The female voice gently reminded.

"Leave it to me," Nami proudly tilted her head, then was bewildered.

"Huh… Was that Luffy talking just now?"

"What a nice ship," a woman with tan skin, sitting cross-legged, propping her face, on the railing next to Orochimaru who was wiping his hair.

Princess Vivi looked terrified, "You… you are Miss All Sunday."

Robin was about to say something when she turned and saw Orochimaru in his half-snake state wiping his hair, with small wings peeking out from under his haori, fluttering… Robin blushed mysteriously, and after a moment of daze, said, "Kawaii ne."

Everyone collectively fell, then got up and looked at Orochimaru, their faces filled with disbelief.

Orochimaru also blushed mysteriously upon hearing that, and his tail wagged… Orochimaru expressed that he was a bit happy, so he wouldn't participate in dealing with this woman.

This woman really had good taste. He remembered that she was supposed to be a Companion in the future, and seemed to be a historian. He, Orochimaru, would cover for her. He might as well lend her the poneglyph to read (Orochimaru had already automatically considered Alabasta's poneglyph as his property).

Orochimaru, in a very good mood, hummed a song as he returned to the laboratory, even with small pink flowers floating above his head.

Everyone was shocked… So this is the real Orochimaru!

No? It was just one phrase, "Kawaii"! You were bought off just like that?

What about Princess Vivi's 50 billion Berries?

In the end, it was all for naught!!!!
