Cherreads

Chapter 21 - Chapter 20: He Won't Actually Die from Eating This, Right?

When Fushiguro Megumi speared his third bite of cake, Maki Zen'in was the first to react, eyes sparkling as she pounced on Yuji.

"You just said this cake is your thank-you gift, so that means all of us get a share, right?"

"Huh? Y-yes!" Yuji nodded eagerly, eyes bright.

Maki smacked the table. "One for me too!"

Everyone else raised their hands together. "Me too! —"

Yuji happily started handing out slices.

The instant the cake touched their tongues, the whole group froze—blown away by the rich, silky, sweet-yet-not-cloying flavor.

How… can it taste this amazing!!!

"Good grief, Sukuna actually—cough!—Yuji's cake is outrageously good!"

"Save me, why does a Special Grade Curse—no, Yuji, you can even do this?!"

"No way, no way! What kind of divine cooking is this? That Itadori—cough—Yuji, you could open a bakery!"

Listening to the flood of praise, Yuji looked delighted… and a little puzzled. Something felt off.

Inside his soul, Sukuna soaked up every compliment, blooming with joy.

He spoke in the same flat, casual tone—yet behind him an imaginary fluffy tail wagged wildly.

"Hmph, it's nothing special."

The Curse's mouth curved up while he said it—

—and he couldn't pull the corners back down!

Hah~! As expected of him, the almighty King of Curses!

…Afternoon tea ended in cheerful chaos.

When Gojo finally arrived, lured by the news, he found only empty plates.

Gojo: "???"

Where's mine? Why wasn't I included?!

The dessert-lover, Gojo Satoru, was stunned.

Why wasn't he part of the sweet-making? He was upset!! —

"Sukuna—no, Yuji, bake me one right now! And make it a big one!! —"

A big one!!!! —

His voice echoed wildly through the dorm.

…"Ahh~, that's more like it~"

Late at night, Gojo sat in the lounge, hugging the special cake Sukuna had baked for him, happily stuffing his face while talking to Sukuna.

"By the way, I've got an overseas trip later. I'll be back in two days, so tonight's extra training's off—sort yourselves out."

He scooped a huge spoonful into his mouth.

Mmm—still delicious!!~

He grinned in satisfaction.

After promising enough ingredients and one cake each, Gojo finally secured sole custody of an entire cake.

—the kind no one else would touch!

Who told them not to save him a slice?

—dessert-faction Gojo holds grudges!

"Got it. Bring back some local snacks when you return."

Sukuna sat opposite him, eating his own portion—he hadn't tasted last night's cake either; the battle had been so fierce that Yuji couldn't even secure him a piece.

Not even Yuji got any—he'd watched helplessly as Sukuna's cake was devoured, nothing left for him.

With Megumi present, Yuji didn't dare act out; he endured, and endured… then sprinted to the cafeteria and slammed three bowls of ramen—after all, the money he'd saved for snacks had gone into Sukuna's kimono and cake ingredients. He'd starved from noon to night, barely hanging on.

Poor kid… Sukuna sighed and decided to set aside half the cake for Yuji—no way the boy would miss out on the cake he himself had baked.

He carved out Yuji's share and slowly savored his own, heart utterly content.

Mid-bite, Gojo lifted his head to look at him.

"So how come you can bake? Another of Yuji's skills?"

Without looking up, Sukuna replied, "Watched a video."

He'd never admit he might have chef potential.

"Something this simple? One look and you know it. Can't you do it?"

Don't ask—raw talent.

Gojo: "…"

No amount of video-watching gets you to this level, right?

This cake tastes better than the ones his family chef makes!

…Huh? Wait—if he wants more later, can he just come to Sukuna?

Yeah, that's a great idea…!

Pleased with the plan, Gojo happily resumed devouring cake.

—perfect, settled then~

The two stopped talking and focused on demolishing cake.

—dead set on making up for yesterday's missed share!

Thus, the strongest of a thousand years ago and the current strongest discovered common ground and quietly founded a secret dessert-lovers' club… The first tasting event wrapped up perfectly.

After polishing off the cake, Gojo said goodbye to Sukuna and went to pack for his trip abroad.

Sukuna rolled himself up and slipped back inside Yuji's body.

After eating and drinking his fill, of course it was time for a nice nap.

He told Yuji to remember to eat the cake, then closed his eyes and drifted off… only to be woken up later.

Yuji's voice carried an unusual tension.

"Sukuna, Sukuna, we've got a mission!"

Yuji stared into the mirror, as if that let him see Sukuna directly.

Light-brown eyes were deadly serious, tinged with excitement.

"It's Special Grade!"

He spoke to Sukuna, nerves showing.

This job—Special Grade.

The phone in his hand glowed, its screen displaying a single term—

"Special-Grade Imaginary Cursed-Womb Spirit."
