It was a World of deathly silence.

Only endless darkness and colossal stones suspended in the air.

The place where Asgard's forefather Bor had sealed the Dark Elves.

"What the hell is this place…?" Jessica hit the ground, rubbing her backside as she stood.

"This… this doesn't look like Earth," Jane Foster said, staring at the floating rocks in shock.

"Obviously not…" Jessica rolled up her sleeve, revealing silver-white vambraces, ready for a fight.

While they looked around, a strange red fluid, slumbering inside a huge stone pillar, seemed to sense the living aura.

It suddenly boiled and surged outward!

"Watch out!"

Superhero instinct hurled Jessica in front of Jane; she snapped a shield open and used her body to shield the mortal scientist.

"Bzzzt—!!!"

Yet the red fluid ignored the barrier and seeped straight into her.

"Aaaargh!!"

Jessica screamed; it felt like ten-thousand fire ants tunneling through her veins, like molten rock poured into her heart.

"Jessica!!" Jane, terrified, reached for her.

"Don't touch me!!" Jessica howled in agony.

Too late.

The instant Jane's fingers brushed Jessica's skin the fluid found a new outlet.

It raced along Jessica's body and leapt onto Jane in a heartbeat!

"No—!!"

Their screams overlapped.

The Aether greedily cocooned the two women… Five hours later.

Inside an abandoned factory warehouse.

Anthony sat on a concrete block, calmly munching crisps while he waited.

Darcy had already called the Police, but the officers only strung up a cordon outside.

Ian, the intern's intern, was outside explaining things to them.

"Mr. Starr, why aren't you worried?!" Darcy sobbed. "They've been missing five hours!!"

"Panic won't help," Anthony said, crunching another chip.

"Trust me, they'll be back. Try this—Lecco's new Classic Beer flavour."

The words had barely left his mouth.

A heavy "Thud—!" rippled through the air.

The atmosphere quaked.

Two figures slammed onto the floor.

"Jane! Jessica!!" Darcy rushed over.

Anthony stood, brushed crumbs from his hands, and strolled after her.

Jane Foster lay unconscious, her face paper-white.

Jessica Jones knelt, gasping, eyes vacant as if waking from a nightmare.

"Cough… what the hell is this place…?" she croaked.

"You okay?" Anthony stepped closer but didn't touch her; instead he switched on X-ray vision.

What he saw next sent a thrill through him.

Inside Jane's veins flowed not red blood but a dark-red energetic fluid.

And inside Jessica Jones… the same fluid rampaged through vessels and bones!

Success… In the original plot Jane alone bore the Aether. Yet because Jessica—whose superhuman physique far exceeded the norm—had interfered, the Aether had actually split!

"Jessica!"

Anthony instantly donned a look of concern and reached to help her up.

"Careful—don't touch me!"

Jessica jerked her hand back.

Zzzt—!

A red energy pulse knocked Anthony's hand aside, numbing it slightly.

"This thing… it's inside me…" she stared at her palm in horror.

"It's… moving."

Jane stirred awake.

"I… I feel… so weird…" she murmured, trying to stand.

Then something bizarre happened.

When Jane tried to step left, Jessica's body slid a metre left without her consent.

And when Jessica tried to back away, Jane was yanked backward by an unseen force!

"What the—?!" Jessica yelped.

They were like prisoners of an invisible chain: stray more than a metre apart and the force hauled them back together.

"Looks like… you're conjoined twins now," Anthony murmured, pondering how to handle it.

"Damn—what's going on?!" Jessica strained to break free, but a soul-tearing pain dropped her to her knees.

Rumble—!!!

At that moment the sky outside tore open.

Torrential rain poured down, yet even the downpour couldn't drown out the thunderclap that shook the heavens.

A blinding bolt of lightning struck the factory yard dead-centre.

The ground quaked; mist parted.

A tall figure in a red cape, Mjolnir in hand, strode from the blaze of light.

Thor Odinson had arrived.

"Jane!"

His golden hair was soaked, yet his divine bearing stayed intact.

He dashed into the warehouse and spotted Jane Foster on the ground.

"Jane—are you alright?"

Thor lunged to lift her up.

Smack!

A crisp slap echoed through the empty warehouse.

Everyone froze.

Jane Foster, the frail scientist, mustered every ounce of strength and slapped Thor across the face.

"W-why…?" Thor cupped his reddened cheek, utterly bewildered, like a golden retriever punished by its owner.

Anthony whistled. "Ouch, that sounded painful."

"Where were you?!" Jane sat up, furious.

"You promised you'd come back! Instead—two years! Two whole years!!"

"Well… the Bifrost Bridge was broken!" Thor explained, still rubbing his face.

"The Nine Realms were at war; I had to quell the chaos…"

"That I could forgive…" she jabbed a finger at him, "but I saw you on TV—New York! Eating barbecue with those tights-wearing guys instead of visiting me?!"

She pointed at Anthony beside her.

Thor glanced at Anthony, looking sheepish.

"Well… things were complicated, Jane. And… the barbecue was awful; I barely touched it."

Pfft—an ill-timed snort came from the side.

Thor spun round and locked eyes on the man.

"Homelander?" Thor frowned.

"You're here too?"

"Long time no see, Hammer-God." Anthony folded his arms, enjoying the show.

"So this is how Asgard operates? Win the girl then vanish? Tsk—turns out whether you're an Earthling or an alien god, scumbags are all the same at heart."
