Chapter 43 - Pre-Adolescence - Epilogue

Toru looked at Isshun's blank expression, then giggled.

"I should've expected that reaction," she mumbled before flashing him a bright smile.

"Thank you, Shishou."

"Hm. You're welcome." Isshun nodded.

"…Wait, Shishou—if you can make me visible, can't you make my parents visible too?" Toru asked.

Isshun shook his head. "Their Quirk's invisibility isn't based on light refraction like yours."

"Oh…"

"Yeah." Isshun shrugged. "Let's head back. Your parents will probably be surprised."

Toru nodded enthusiastically.

"Yeah!"

"Woahhhh! Is that the kid you want me to Search?!"

Ragdoll exclaimed from a distant rooftop, a small telescope pressed to her eye.

"Indeed. This is the one-hundred-and-thirty-seventh suspect I'd like you to use your Quirk on," Nezu replied calmly from her right. "My apologies for calling you on such short notice."

"It's fine, it's fine!" Ragdoll waved it off.

"I've been curious ever since the Sky Egg Stasis Incident!"

"Though…" She tilted her head. "Doesn't he look a little young? It's been about two years since the incident. Going by the files, shouldn't he have been around ten?"

She tapped a finger against her chin.

"Yes, I agree," Nezu said, nodding. "If student Shunkan Isshun truly is Blink, then his Quirk control far exceeds that of ninety-nine percent of Pro Heroes."

Over the past two years, the vigilante known as Blink had apprehended over seven hundred villains and saved countless civilians.

Nezu hadn't devoted all of his attention to searching for Blink at first, primarily due to how time-consuming the process was.

However, as the possible age range of suspects continued to shrink into something… interesting, Nezu had steadily increased the pace of his investigation.

He had initially started with university students, then high schoolers. From there, the range only decreased further.

By the time the suspects had narrowed into the middle school bracket, his curiosity had fully peaked.

After all, if Blink wasn't even in high school yet, there was a possibility—however slim—that they could eventually enroll at U.A.

The Musutafu Vigilante: Blink.

Despite the sheer volume of help they provided, Blink was considered a low-profile vigilante in terms of fame.

There were two main reasons for this.

First, it was nearly impossible for civilians to film them.

Second, Blink's actions were subtle and often limited to the victims themselves, allowing only fragments of information to spread by word of mouth.

As time passed, residents within Blink's domain began referring to them as the Guardian of Musutafu.

After all, even the police had never officially publicized Blink's alias.

Their existence was a widely known secret.

The crime rate within Blink's range alone had dropped by over ninety-eight percent, despite their irregular activity hours.

If All Might was the reason Japan's crime rate stayed below six percent, then Blink had effectively turned their domain into a near-utopia.

Despite pressure from the HPSC, almost no Pro Heroes actively searched for Blink.

Some Vigilantes might use excessive force.

Some Vigilantes might do this for fame.

Blink was neither.

They were like a phenomenon given life.

And to think they were still so young.

That was why Nezu was fascinated.

How could someone that young possess such precise Quirk control, and choose to use it this way?

"Sooo, why are we so far away?" Ragdoll asked.

They had been stationed on the rooftop for a while now. Getting a clear view of Shunkan Isshun from this distance took time, especially with it being graduation day.

Ragdoll had only received preliminary information when Nezu contacted her.

From what she remembered, the individual responsible for the Sky Egg Stasis Incident had a range of roughly five hundred meters.

Right now, they were nearly five kilometers away.

"Based on my estimates," Nezu said, "Blink's standard operational range has a diameter exceeding four kilometers, and it may increase further. This is simply a precaution."

"Woah?!" Ragdoll muttered.

Her Search Quirk had an enormous range, but it wasn't meant for combat.

Even so… maintaining effectiveness over four kilometers?

"That's impressive…" she hummed.

"Isn't it?" Nezu nodded.

"Well, I've activated my Quirk on him, so now we just wait!" she said cheerfully.

"Indeed. Would you care to have some tea while we do?" Nezu offered.

"Uh…" Having worked with Nezu before, she knew how… long his conversations could be. "I already promised Mandalay I'd meet her later, aha…"

She slipped away awkwardly, leaving the rooftop before Nezu could logically dismantle her excuse.

Nezu watched the door close, then turned his gaze back toward the distant elementary school.

"Hm… am I truly that dull a conversationalist?"

Tokyo was full of things to do.

For Ragdoll, who primarily worked in mountainous regions, visiting the city once in a while was a nice change of pace.

Now in civilian clothes, Shiretoko Tomoko wandered through the streets.

Over the past two years, she'd assisted Nezu with his investigations purely out of curiosity.

Thankfully, Nezu understood that she was a Pro Hero who frequently worked outside the city, so he only called her in when suspects were clustered in densely populated areas.

As the Number Thirty-Two Pro Hero, Tomoko knew that every hero had their own specialty.

Still, even with seven years of experience, she had never seen a spatial-type Quirk this effective.

For the first time in her Pro Hero career, a thought crossed her mind:

Are Quirks really supposed to be this powerful?

And soon after, she thought of all the possible utilities.

While most people would focus on combat applications, the Wild, Wild Pussycats immediately recognized the rescue potential.

With a Quirk like that, every rescue could be completed in a blink.

She settled into a nearby café, a cup of hot chocolate latte cradled in her hands.

"Still… it feels weird using my Quirk on a kid who's just entering middle school," Tomoko muttered before taking a sip.

'Since Nezu said that Blink's time of activity starts before dinner time so I probably just have to wait a few minutes…'

She hummed softly, her eyes beginning to glow.

'Honestly… he's so young. It's probably not him.'

The level of control she'd witnessed during the Sky Egg Stasis Incident shouldn't have been possible for an elementary—

…Huh?

Tomoko blinked.

'...There's no weakness?'

For context, her Quirk, Search, allowed her to identify a person's location and their weakest point.

A "weakness" was subjective—based on probability and vulnerability that it was possible to hit.

But this was the first time she'd ever used her Quirk on someone and found nothing.

No weak point.

'...Eh?'

A/N: I really wish horikoshi specified some quirks, cause man is there barely any information for like most of these, like what is weak point even supposed to mean...?
