Chapter 6 - Realization

Aurelia

I woke up the next morning and two things were gone. My unrefilled pen and my illusion of being safe. He'd broken in last night, annotated the next two chapters, took the empty pen and left a note.

"You locked the window. Smart Little Writer" the note reads.

Then how the hell did he break in?! Oh God! I'm so frustrated as hell!

'Frustrated but not scared' my inner mind argued.

'I am not scared of him ' I retorted.

'Of course you're not. You took his warnings as love confessions. He told you he's a villain but you still wouldn't stay away ' right, I've now confirmed that I'm crazy. Arguing with my own mind.

I froze as the words sank in. Was I really ignoring his warnings? I walked towards my bookshelf. The exclusive edition of five of my books stood out. I ran my fingers through the bindings and I pulled out a copy of Shadows of Loss. The rich emerald texture and golden writings were hard on my palms. I flipped through the pages smoothly as if checking the details. The characters arts appeared at the end of the first chapter and I gasped.

No freaking way!

The main male character, Drake glared at me through the page. His amber eyes were glaring at me with a certain intensity. I created him. I wrote about him and now, a villain with an exact same colour of eyes, same personality and character came into my life.

Could that be a coincidence? I didn't intentionally write about him.

"For why I'm interested in your book, let's just say you invited me" his words from yesterday echoed through my mind and I just realized, I am in for some deep trouble. Then I suddenly remembered, I have to meet him today by 5pm.

"It's just for research, nothing more"

Jayvion

My eyes were pinned on my laptop while my fingers danced across the keyboard in a blur when Trevor came up beside me.

"Found him" Trevor said. I paused, looking up from my laptop.

"Brian Castillo, age 33 was the truck driver. You were right, Mr Carell. The accident was planned. He is the member of the Obsidians. They are after you" Trevor explained, handing a file over to me.

"For goodness' sake it's been years" I rubbed my temples tiredly as I went through the file.

"You are valuable information, Mr Carell. I see why they're after you. Your life is a threat to them" Trevor replied. I hate that he's right and he said that without even blinking an eye.

"Where's the Brian Boy?" My voice was almost a growl as I asked.

"My men went to hunt him down. They should be here in 25" I checked them time, 4:30pm.

"Lock him up in the warehouse. I gotta go" I stood up and made to leave but Trevor's voice made me pause.

"I hate to break it to you but the Obsidians will think she's your weakness. They'll try getting you through her. You're better off not meeting her" he knows. Of course, he knows about her. Trevor, my head of security keep tabs of everything security-related. Even my life.

I turned to him mid-way.

"Neither you nor the Obsidians will tell me what to do. I'd tear think f*****g city down if anyone even thinks about her" I leveled him with a glare that'll humble even the most bravest man on earth. He lowered his head. Good, he got the message.

"I'll head security details to ensure ber safety" that's Trevor freaking Graves. He's loyal and I respect him for that.

"Your car is ready, I'll see you by 8" Trevor bowed, and just like that, he walked away.

"Call me if anything goes wrong"

I have a series of events to attend this month but walking in a quiet alley searching for a closed butcher shop to meet a certain amber-eyed villain in my life is not one of them. It never was.

This is strictly work-related meetup. It's for research to see how real villains stab.

'Keep deceiving yourself' my inner mind commented. I know better than to reply because we'll always end up arguing.

I finally sighted the closed butcher shop. The glass door was cracked and dusty. 'Too quiet' I mumbled as I pushed the door open.

The smell of dust and something like dried blood filled my lungs and the cup of coffee I had churned in my stomach. I forced it down with a gulp but it resurfaced again. This is not good.

It was dark, save for the light from the single window at the far end. Jayvion stood there, silhouetted. I thought he hadn't noticed my entrance but he turned just as I took a step inside. My legs walked in an autopilot towards him.

"You came" his deep voice sent a wave of chills down my spine. I don't know when my body will stop reacting to his voice.

"Your invitation wasn't the one a writer could ignore" I replied, crossing my arms under my chest.

His eyes flicked to my wrist--to the tiny leaf bracelet I wore, just as he'd asked. He smirked, a devastating sexy smirk that made my heart jump in... excitement?

"You wore it" his voice was laced with amusement.

"You asked nicely" I meant to deflect but my voice came out breathless than intended. His eyes turned a shade darker but with a single breath, it's gone.

"Theoretical or practical?" He was referring to the stab lesson.

"Writers observe. Show me" he smirked at my response.

He moved like liquid shadow with lethal grace of a predator stalking towards his prey. Before I could register what's going on, he pinned me on the wall, my body trapped between his and the wall, a black dagger was against my neck.

I froze
