Chapter 12 - Chapter 12 — The Woman Who Started Asking Questions

Han Xue did not believe in coincidences.

Not in science. Not in business. And certainly not in people like Lin Mo.

That night, after the laboratory lights dimmed and the staff left, she remained alone in her office, scrolling through data that had nothing to do with nanoregeneration.

It was about him.

—"Lin Mo. Age: 24. Heir to the Lin Group."—"Rapid capital expansion in the last six months."—"Multiple acquisitions intersecting with high-value 'chance' events."

She stopped.

Her fingers hovered over the screen.

—This doesn't line up… —she murmured.

The First Inconsistency

Before Lin Mo entered the picture, Project Aurora had been struggling.

Funding delays.Political pressure. An unreliable "young backer" who promised miracles but delivered optimism instead of contracts.

Then Lin Mo arrived.

And everything… stabilized.

Too cleanly.

—He didn't negotiate like an investor —Han Xue thought—.—He moved like someone who already knew the outcome.

That bothered her.

Digging Deeper

She accessed restricted logs.

Unusual approvals.Perfect timing.Key decisions made minutes before critical failures occurred.

It was as if someone had stepped between cause and effect.

—That's impossible… —she whispered.

Her screen flickered.

For a split second, she felt a strange pressure behind her eyes.

Not pain.

Resistance.

The system reacted.

Warning:Heroine Han Xue is attempting to approach forbidden causality layers.Risk Level: Medium

Lin Mo felt it instantly.

Not through alarms.Not through reports.

Through intuition.

—She's smart.—And she's not satisfied with answers.

He closed his laptop.

Han Xue's Conclusion

By dawn, she had reached one unavoidable conclusion:

Lin Mo was not lucky.

Luck fluctuates.Chance hesitates.

Lin Mo did neither.

—He doesn't chase opportunities… —she realized.—He arrives before them.

Her heartbeat quickened.

Not fear.

Curiosity.

The dangerous kind.

The Confrontation That Didn't Happen

Later that day, Han Xue crossed paths with Lin Mo in the corridor.

They stopped.

Just for a second.

—Do you believe in destiny, Mr. Lin? —she asked casually.

He looked at her.

Calm.Measured.

—No —he answered—. I believe in preparation.

Thought, unfiltered:

—And in taking things before others realize they're theirs.

She didn't hear his thoughts.

But she felt something twist in her chest.

—Interesting —she said—. I don't believe in destiny either.

They walked away in opposite directions.

But the distance between them had vanished.

Note:This heroine may become an ally…or a destabilizing variable.

Lin Mo stood by the window, watching the city.

—She's different —he thought—.—She won't fall because I want her to.

A slow smile formed.

—Good.—That makes it worth stealing properly.
