Chapter 2 - 1

This world was ruled by three main kingdoms and nine smaller ones. The three kingdoms were the Kingdom of Tarmil, the Kingdom of Hormis, and the largest of them all, the Kingdom of Falvaria. Specific clans governed the other nine kingdoms. One of those clans was Cerfis, located in the north, on the foothills of the great mountain Nolfin. Nolfin was the highest and most prominent mountain in the world. Adjacent to Cerfis was Falvaria. From the peak of Nolfin, one could see the entire region of Falvaria and beyond.

The three major kingdoms had always fought each other for control over lands, and the small kingdoms were their proxies. Cerfis was located in the north, with only Falvaria bordering it, and behind it lay the ocean, making it relatively safe from many wars. Cerfis did most of its trade with the closest clan, beyond Falvaria, called Termon. They were on good terms. The Falvarians and the Cerfisians had no animosity towards each other, but they didn't do any trade or anything. Falvaria gave them free passage through their kingdom. The main problem was that Falvaria didn't have any benefit from them. They weren't great warriors, not great researchers, not great scientists, not even great farmers.

Cerfis had good warriors, lush fields, and many more things, but for a kingdom like Falvaria, it was useless. Cerfis had an army above ten thousand, but for Falvaria, whose army numbered above a million, it was a useless sacrifice. So, they were only neighbours, no good to each other.

Beyond the sea, further in the north, was the northern province of Tarmil. They were the oldest enemy of Falvaria and had numerous wars with them. Even in those wars, Cerfis was untouched, yet they sold food and clothing to both parties. Gentra, a clan which was the ally of Tarmil, was against Cerfis, probably their only enemy. They were very religious and said that the great mountain Nolfin is a sacred peak and must not be occupied by everyone. So they wanted Cerfis to leave the mountain, which was never going to happen and was, hence, a stupid reason. On the other hand, another ally of Tarmil, Refraygia, advised them to take over Cerfis. They thought that this way they would be very near to Falvaria, and attacking them would become easy. But Tarmil hesitated due to the long distance.

The third major kingdom, Hormis, was in the southeast of Falvaria, separated by Lake Tisa. They had fought as well, but less than Tarmil. Still, they weren't on good terms with each other. But Hormis and Tarmil fought a lot.

Now, Cerfis was a peaceful, small nation which had nothing to do with the geopolitics of the major kingdoms and mostly traded with many. The main reason for attacking Cerfis would be to gain an advantage over Falvaria. But Cerfis had a proper army, and Falvaria would give them aid to protect themselves, so no one took such risks.

Cerfis comprised one town and eight villages. The town was on the top of Nolfin, and the eight villages were scattered around the mountain and other territories. It was ruled by the Gorbin family. They were good rulers, and other families didn't fight much. So, it was peaceful internally as well.

The dynamics changed when Tarmil decided to attack Cerfis under constant pressure from Refraygia. At that time, the clan chief of Cerfis had died, and his twenty-year-old son Emayla Gorbin was selected as the chief. Before the Tarmilian and Refraygian forces could reach Cerfis, Falvaria, through its network of spies found out about the attack. The prince of Falvaria, Larnet Falva, came to Cerfis and met the young chief. The prince told them about the threat and demanded that Cerfis allow the Felvarian army to use their land and defend both Cerfis and Falvaria. Emayla decided to support with his army as well, on the condition that Falvaria does trade with Cerfis. The prince accepted, and the preparations for the defence began.

When the enemy reached, they didn't fight. On the idea of Emayla, all twelve thousand soldiers of Cerfis and six hundred thousand of Falvaria lit the fire torches in the night. The sheer number stressed the enemy, and they retreated without spilling any blood.

This was not a particularly impressive feat, but it pleased the prince. Five months later, the Falvarian king fell ill and passed away. His only son, Larnet, ascended to the throne. He negotiated trade and defence agreements with Cerfis. Cerfis had become their ally. They fought numerous wars together, expanding the influence of Cerfis and Falvaria. The brilliance of Emayla and the massive army of Falvaria were forces that everyone feared.

Now, it was peaceful, and the lives of every Cerfisian went by normally. But one day, the god decided to test humanity. He decided to give humanity what was fiction, story and imagination for them.

It was a normal night for Cerfis. A group of guards was on the peak of Nolfin. The sky was clear, and the night was quiet, a bit unusual. At midnight, a light appeared in the sky. The guards thought of it as a broken star. But it grew bigger and bigger and headed towards them. They understood, got scared, and began to run down the mountain. The light landed and shook the world. The night sky became brighter than the day and more colourful than the aurora. A wave of magical light and aura spread all around the world.

Emayla was informed way before. He, alongside his younger brother, went to the peak of the great mountain. When he reached, he saw magical particles on the edge of the peak, floating in the air. He went near them and touched them with his shaking hands. The particles reacted, and another wave of magical aura appeared and covered the Cerfisian territory only.

He felt something and took out his sword. The sword was glowing. His younger brother did the same, and his sword was glowing as well. Emayla understood something, and they went back.

The magical aura was seen and felt by everyone around the world. The people were confused at first, but over the course of two years, the scholars figured out what it was.

Magic has been born in this world and in its people. People had the power they thought was fictional. They thought they had the power of a god. The scholars of Cerfis named the particles "Fin" as they landed on Nolfin. The particles were more like five magical gems. The sword of Emayla, known as the "Alcapraz", was the only sword able to withstand and yield the hidden power of Fin. A badge with the shape of a four-edged star was made for the particles. Cerfis had the particles in their direct control; the rest of the world drew power from the particles.

The dynamics and the situation changed drastically around the world. New religions were formed, and new terrorist groups came into existence. Many inside the three great kingdoms revolted. But Emayla and Larnet united yet again and restored the peace and stability which had been lost. Their bonds and friendship were strengthened.

After years of confusion, stability was restored, and normal, peaceful lives resumed. Everyone expected peace, but a problem persisted. Emayla and the Cerfisians held the particles directly under their control, making them extremely powerful. Larnet feared his kingdom might lose its influence and authority. He attempted to seize the particles from Emayla by claiming they were valuable and should be kept by a strong nation like Falvaria. Emayla understood the true reason, rejected his demand, and distanced himself. Larnet's greed spiralled out of control. He desperately wanted power. He complained it was unfair. He forgot the wars they had fought together. Every nation considered it unfair, and all old enemies united under the banner of Falvaria — all against Clan Cerfis. The First Great War of Fin loomed on Cerfis's horizon.

Under the shadows of Nolfin, in the great Cerfal plain, the forces of Larnet and Emayla clashed. It was a great and bloody battle, fought for the sole reason of uncontrollable greed and jealousy. On the plain, the two great forces, Emayla and Larnet, clashed.

The two old friends fought to the death. One fought for greed, and one fought for his people. The battle of two living demons shook the world. The plain and the mountain crumbled. The battle sliced the great mountain, but it didn't fall. After a bloody battle, Larnet killed Emayla before he could use the power of the Fin. The forces of Larnet overwhelmed the Cerfisian army, and they were defeated. The particles were taken from them, and the Alcapraz was sealed away.

Larnet used magic on himself to achieve immortality. His beautiful face had turned into that of an ugly animal. Greed and jealousy had taken over him. He was then known as the 'Mad King'.

The family of Emayla was massacred, to make sure they couldn't fight back and take revenge. Emayla's brother and the remaining members fled and hid across the small nation. The Falvarian forces burned villages and houses. However, the Gorbin family continued to bear children and grow. This genocide continued for nearly a hundred years, until a child was born.

Until, one day, after a century, a boy was born in the Gorbin family, who had the same cyan eyes as Emayla, Felmer Gorbin.
