"...What the hell are you talking about now?" Yoshiro snapped. "Why do we have to get the hell out of here so fast if we killed them all?"
Ayano also seemed not to understand why Takeshi wanted to leave so quickly. The attack earlier had caught her completely off guard.
Without saying much, Takeshi looked at them for a moment before gesturing down beyond the wall. "See for yourselves."
They instinctively followed the direction of his fingers, and their gazes settled on nine silhouettes moving swiftly, jumping from rooftop to rooftop. They all seemed to be heading straight for the very spot where the trio was standing.
Maybe the rebels had had time to call for reinforcements? With all that racket, it would have been impossible not to draw attention. Those guys must have been nearby, and upon hearing the sounds of battle, they decided to take a little detour.
"One… two… three," Yoshiro began counting the enemies, shielding his eyes from the sun with one hand. "...seven… eight… nine… I think there are only nine of them."
It was really annoying no matter how many they killed, more kept showing up, like ants drawn to sugar.
Yoshiro finally put his weapon away. He didn't really feel like fighting anymore. He had been on his feet for hours already, trying to escape this city, and fatigue was slowly setting in.
He wasn't the only one. Takeshi too, despite the savage smile he wore during fights, really wanted to take a proper break.
"...So, how about we go? That forest isn't going to explore itself," Yoshiro sighed as he walked toward the edge, looking at the tips of the trees rising above the mist.
The three of them jumped, finally leaving that cursed city behind. Outside the city, the scenery was completely different vegetation took over, creating a damp environment. There was also that fog, which seemed to grow thicker the further they went.
It was an ideal place to hide. The only question was whether the village had taken other precautions. After all, it wouldn't have been surprising if there were a few patrol posts scattered here and there throughout the forest.
Whatever awaited them, it was already too late to turn back. The three of them began their journey, slowly moving away from the outskirts.
"This damn fog is really starting to piss me off I can barely see anything," Yoshiro muttered as he stumbled over the stump of a dead tree.
The sun seemed to be setting, and the temperature had dropped as well, letting an increasingly cold draft creep in.
"We'll have to stop for the night," Ayano said, quickly scanning the area in search of a suitable spot. "Anyway, visibility is almost zero."
Everything looked the same here trees as far as the eye could see, some of them several meters tall, revealing little more than their trunks. After observing for a while, it didn't seem like anyone was chasing them.
Maybe they hadn't noticed them? Or maybe they had just given up… either way, it was already a relief not to have anyone constantly getting in their way.
"What if we sleep here?" Takeshi suggested, tapping the side of a tree. The inside of its trunk was hollow, allowing at least two people to lie down comfortably. It could fit three, but they'd have to forget about personal space.
"Looks pretty good to me…" Yoshiro commented after taking a look. "...But there won't be enough room for all three of us inside," he pointed out.
"Either way, someone was going to stay on guard," Takeshi replied, sweeping his gaze across the area. "I don't think that'll be a problem…"
"You're staying outside decision made," Yoshiro shot back immediately.
"What kind of bullshit are you spouting now?" Takeshi didn't personally mind staying outside, but the smug air of that bastard who thought he was some kind of noble lord really pissed him off.
"And then what " As Yoshiro was about to continue, Ayano's female voice rang out, putting an end to their childish bickering.
"Someone does need to stand watch, and we all need rest. We'll take turns," she said, her tone leaving no room for argument.
Playing the role of the big sister made her a little more… sexy. Takeshi couldn't even stop that enigmatic smile from forming on his face. And it didn't go unnoticed Ayano looked at him for a moment before turning her head away to focus on other things.
"We need to find dry wood for the fire," she remarked, her hips swaying, making her ass jiggle slightly.
I see why that idiot is acting so stupid… Takeshi thought as he watched her. Now that things had calmed down, he could take his time checking out the beauty in front of him. Mei's got a bigger ass… he told himself with an inward sigh, the image of the milf resurfacing in his mind.
