Chapter 17- Talking To The Duo (Part 2)

The voice that spoke behind him wasn't Fiona's calm and soothing voice but rather a playful and somewhat sarcastic voice. One that Elio heard before, but it took him a second to realize who it was.

There, standing behind him, was none other than Alexander Irwin. Fiona's fiancé and one of the most sought-after celebrities in the world. A young man with many fans around the world, mostly girls who had fallen in love with his charming personality and beautiful smile.

"..."

"When Fiona told me about you, I couldn't believe it." He said as he walked around the seat and sat down casually. "I thought that the world was ending. 150k Blood Energy Particles in your body? And you aren't even a vampire hunter to begin with? What kind of freakish monstrosity are you?"

"..."

His words seemed completely filled with curiosity, but they were also clearly not very friendly. However, Alex, being the young star he was, didn't show a single odd expression on his face and kept that same friendly smile.

"How? Who are you really? I am so curious. You don't look like anything special." He leaned forward with a wide smile. "Did the machine really make a mistak-"

"Alex."

At that moment, another voice spoke behind Elio, making him step to the side quickly. This time, it was Fiona who glared at Alex directly.

'What is with these people and appearing behind me out of nowhere?!' Elio cursed in his head. He had been jumpscared by this exact thing three times now. He had to get accustomed to it at this point since they do it all the time.

"Leave him alone. I didn't let you come here to bother him."

"..." Alex seemed a bit surprised by her words before he nodded his head with a faint, constrained smile. "Ok, my bad, my bad. I'm just too curious."

"Keep your curiosity for an appropriate time. I hope he didn't bother you, Elio." Fiona turned to Elio and said with a slightly softer tone.

"No, it's fine… I don't mind."

"In any case, well, I came here to ask you if you've made up your mind or not."

"Well, yeah… It was actually a lot easier than I expected. I thought about it the entire night, and I found myself drawn to what you said." Elio explained. "I don't honestly know yet what to expect or if I even can do anything good. But, I want to at least give it a try, and if it works, it works… If it doesn't, then… Well, at least I gave it my best." He smiled awkwardly.

"Mhm." Fiona nodded her head with a calm look. "That is the spirit. Nothing is certain in this world. Only those who work hard have a better chance than others."

"Yes. That's why… If you would let me, I would like to awaken and become a Vampire Hunter."

"I see," Fiona muttered. "I won't say you have made the right choice. But I believe that you have done the right thing. You are welcome to our world."

"Wait, what? Hold on. A second! Pause!"

Suddenly, Alex stood up as he interrupted the conversation with a dumbfounded look. "What are we talking about here? You? A vampire hunter? What are you even saying?"

"..."

"I thought we only came here to talk to this guy. Why is he suddenly joining us?"

"And why does that concern you?" Fiona asked.

"How can we let a random guy suddenly walk into this? Even if he has the talent. He isn't a part of any clan or entity. He has no name. He is nameless."

"..."

Silence took over the entire place as the two stared at Alex.

"Why does that matter? Once he awakens, I'm taking him under the Vaylor wings. He won't be nameless."

"Fiona. This is a really risky and frankly reckless thing. There is a reason why not every person who is capable of awakening awakens. You know better than anyone else how much this world hates intruders. You're either born into it, or you're an-"

"Alex." Suddenly, Fiona cut him off again, her aura slowly growing colder. Elio felt a chill run down his spine. "Let me be clear here. It does not matter what this world thinks. What matters is what he decides and what I'm capable of doing. Do I need to explain what I could do?"

"..."

"Precisely. Whether they think he's an intruder or not does not matter. As long as he's under the Vaylor name, he is protected by Vaylor. Besides, his presence as an ally to us alone would shift so many things."

Alex couldn't stare Fiona in the eyes. Besides the fact that she was extremely beautiful, she had this hypnotic stare that made it extremely hard to make eye contact with her without making a face.

However, even more than that, she was angry, and an angry Fiona wasn't someone he could deal with. Her presence was far too strong.

Meanwhile, Elio watched with a surprised expression. 'Hmmm, he is against me awakening huh?'

Elio heard that last part. 'This world doesn't accept intruders,' and it resonated in his head. After all, it does make sense. For a world to be this secret and for no one to know about it from the normal population, it had to be extremely hostile toward intruders or people who know far too much.

He was exactly that. Someone who is nameless and who has just learned about everything. If Fiona didn't reply to him, he would've been completely speechless and clueless.

'I guess the fact I'm being backed by Fiona Vaylor of all people makes a big difference. I am certain Fiona has a big name in this world.'

After all, not only was she extremely talented and strong, but she was also from an influential family. There was simply no way her name being close to his wouldn't push many enemies away.

"I understand…" Alex muttered as he looked down.

"I hope you do. Elio has the potential to be one of the greatest Vampire Hunters this world has ever seen. A vampire hunter who will fight for what is right. We should take him in and help him so that he will go on the right path."

Slowly, Fiona started walking toward Elio. "I promise you that as long as I am able to, I will help you learn about this world, and I hope you will always keep your heart away from being darkened by greed, revenge, or hatred. This world has far too many of those and nowhere near enough people to keep that balance."

Saying that, for a second, Elio saw a flash of conflicted emotions within Fiona's eyes. Something very subtle, but Elio noticed it.

"So, no matter what happens. I hope you keep your eyes focused, Elio. Do what you feel is right and don't let power or money sway you. Ever."

Elio was dazed for a bit. Then, he nodded his head. "I will try my best not to do anything bad… I don't know if I will ever be swayed by anything. But my grandma had told me before that I must keep my good heart no matter what I face, and I plan to do that."
