Chapter 10 - The Daily Normal Life of a Self-Proclaimed NEET

And, as usual, I have no clue if this thing's undercooked or burnt to a crisp straight from the author's kitchen

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

(Kael Rukmono - August 30, 2011)

Two months have passed quickly without me realizing since I got the manual for making Einzbern Homunculi, which if the Einzbern Family found out, they would chase me to the ends of the earth.

I didn't waste any time.

The [Gale Force Reading Glasses] proved to be the single most useful piece of item I owned. Wearing them, I devoured the entire [Idiot's Guide to Einzbern Homunculus] in a month, instantly assimilating millennia of arcane and bio-mechanical knowledge into my brain.

The [Magician] trait acted like a perfect data processor. What would have taken an average Magus years of painful study and experimentation was accomplished in 1 month.

The guide wasn't just about creating The standard Homunculus of the Einzbern family, its even included more advanced Homunculus modeled after Justeaze herself,

complete with instructions on how to make homunculi vats with fairly common materials.

I think the [Queen of All Trades] skill is especially useful here, since it also includes knowledge of [Intermediate Blacksmithing] skill to create Vats where Homunculus can be cultivated, plus with my Sacred Gear [Unknown Dictator], making vats to cultivate Homunculus will be much easier.

Well, I could have just gone straight to a field test to see if I could make Homunculus, but I think I'll postpone that until I have at least enough funds to buy a house with basement access.

I could have asked my parents for additional funds, but either because of ego or the embarrassment of constantly asking my parents for money, I decided against it and left the knowledge of making Homunculus to another time.

Ahh well, I'll think about that another time because I don't want another month where I become the stereotype Mad Doctor.

This morning started as usual, even though I've started adding a morning run around my block to my schedule.

I wouldn't say I'm athletic, but I'm not particularly overweight either. I'm more like a 'guy who rarely exercises', you know, the type who can climb a flight of stairs without dying but prefers the elevator.

Maybe it's because I've seen too many Shorts about how light exercise can make your body healthy at least 3 times a week from the Fitness creator of YT Short.

After finishing my morning exercise today, I took the time to go to the supermarket to buy my weekly food supplies.

Paying for my shopping through my bank account reminded me of a minor incident about how I was able to get a steady stream of money into my bank account.

I'm always confused as to why my bank debit balance doesn't always decrease, but instead quite often increases every day.

It was quite small at first, and I thought it must be from my YouTube channel, which gets AdSense from every video I upload.

And I remember I don't get any income from YouTube because I haven't received that offer to have Adsense to my channel.

So that leaves only one possibility, TB.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I stared at my banking app. The number had gone up again. "TB," I said, my voice flat. "We need to talk about my bank account."

Her avatar popped up, cheerful as ever. "Yes, Shikikan! I have optimized your finances. I identified 42 high-volume, low-security accounts linked to various cartel activities and initiated a micro-transfer protocol..."

"You're stealing fromWHO?!" GLaDOS's voice cut in abruptly.

"I am re-allocating dormant 'bad-guy' funds, Shikikan. The probability of them noticing a 0.05% transfer is negligible..."

"TB! Stop! Stop right now! The last thing I need is a 10-man kill squad breaking down my door because you 're-allocated' their pocket money!"

and suddenly my laptop beeped

It seems I've received another email.and yeah, it was from Starbearer giving me another gacha ticket

Well, I don't think you should be too hard on TB.

She just wants to do something good for you.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Shikikan....…" TB look to me with a sense of guilt "I'm sorry...."

"Just don't do anything like that again without telling me, okay?"

TB just stayed silent and nodded his head.

"Please promise me, TB."

"I promise, Shikikan."

"Protocol failure. The probability of detection was low, but the catastrophic consequences of failure were high. Your emotional variables are a liability, Tamagotchi." GLaDOS voice cuts in

"Seriously, Caroline? And come on, TB, don't be gloomy all the time. You're making yourself look not so pretty."

"All right, Shikikan," said TB, her mood instantly lifted.

"Master, if the cartel really sent a hit team to 'visit,' you know I could easily wipe them out, right?" Shizu overheard my conversation while she was folding laundry.

'Oh, I forgot that Shizu is a "Battle Maid.' Maybe I spent too much time teaching her the basics of being a maid and forgot about the battle part. "I'm not the type of person who chooses violence as the first option if I can avoid it, but thank you for reminding me," I replied. Shizu responded with a small nod and continued folding clothes.

After resolving the issue, I felt it was the right time to change the subject.

"Okay, let's see what we get from this ticket," I said, clicking the link where the Chaos Gacha site was located.

Once there, I immediately pressed the Roll button and saw what I got.

Rolling Gold Item Ticket

[Tome of Raya Lucaria]

|Rare Item|

Elden Ring - A magical tome containing the teachings of the Raya Lucaria Academy, allowing its reader to learn and harness Glintstone magic.

Spell List: https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Glintstone+Sorceries

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

and suddenly a book with a blue cover and a symbol on the cover, which is a crest that always appears whenever magic is used in game Elden Ring, was clearly visible on my lap.

I stared at the screen, my mind catching up to the implications.

"Raya Lucaria..." I whispered. The name was iconic. "Glintstone Sorcery. Magic from the Elden Ring."

My eyes immediately scanned the Fextralife link. Glintstone Pebble. Terra Magica, Thops's Barrier, Comet Azur, Even Stars of Ruin and Founding Rain of Stars are also listed there.

"Well, I guess my "NEET with Sacred Gear" status has now changed to being a College students at the "Raya Lucaria Academy", huh?"

"Shikikan," TB's voice cut in, her avatar's eyes sharp with analysis. "I have accessed the provided data link. This 'Glintstone Sorcery' is a highly magic system based on the manipulation of cosmic energies via crystalline catalysts. It is... exceptionally compatible with your [Magician]"

"You're telling me," I muttered

"More... new Magic? It seems that anyone behind 'that' want to add students from Hogwarts University to your portfolio." said GLaDOS when she saw the book that I was currently holding

"That is an interesting magic book," Shizu said after folding the last piece of clothing.

I just remembered that Shizu also has Magic from the YGGDRASIL game So I think she's also quite interested in the new magic..

Well, I guess now I have the option of throwing space rocks as part of my arsenal.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

(Present Time)

"I'm home," I said as I entered my apartment returning from the supermarket, which I felt like I'd visited often enough that even the cashier there already knew my face,

"Welcome back, Master," replied Shizu, who seemed to be performing maintenance on her Magic Gun.

"Oh, yes, I happened to buy what we were missing here, so you don't need to go out shopping again."

"No problem, Master," replied Shizu as she refocused on her Magic Gun.

I immediately put groceries in the refrigerator and went back to reading [Tome of Raya Lucaria].

My first thought in understanding Glintstone magic was overwhelming. This was a university-level textbook on a branch of physics that didn't exist. But then, the new facets of my mind kicked in.

[Magician] Trait allowed me to grasp the ideas. The text spoke of "stars" and "amber" not as literal objects, but as conceptual anchors for cosmic energy. It described glintstone not as a rock, but as a mineral that had crystallized wisdom, a conduit for the primeval current of intelligence that flows through the cosmos. My old self would have dismissed it as poetic nonsense. My new self saw the underlying logic. It was a system, with rules and principles.

I didn't have the grand, cathedral-like halls of Raya Lucaria, but my apartment made a perfect, distraction-free practice space. The spells I managed to reliably master were primarily the beginner and utility-focused ones

The most satisfying was mastering the constant flow of energy required for a utility spell. It was the first one that felt truly like magic and not just a glorified projectile launcher.

I focused on the concept in the tome: a star. A small, floating, guiding light. I channeled the energy from my core, up my arm and into my open palm.

At first, nothing happened. Then, a pinprick of bright, blue-white light appeared, hovering an inch above my hand. It flickered, sputtered, and then, with a soft vwoom, it stabilized.

I opened my eyes.

Floating in my apartment was a small, fist-sized orb of beautiful, crystalline light.

It wasn't a hot, fiery light, but a cool, pure, magical glow, casting sharp, clear shadows on the wall. It was the Starlight spell, perfect and stable.

The entire apartment, which had relied on the ceiling lights, was now bathed in the gentle, magical radiance.

"Well," I breathed, a small grin spreading across my face.

Despite my initial success, there were still roadblocks.

I flipped through the final, most advanced pages of the Tome of Raya Lucaria, reading the descriptions for spells like Comet Azur, Stars of Ruin, and Founding Rain of Stars.

The text here was different. It spoke of the sorcerers who created them as having "glimpsed into the primeval current" or "made contact with the wisdom of the void."

Because while I could now comfortably perform Pebble, Shard, Stars, Arc, Barrage, Burst, and everything in between… the big spells? The legendary ones?

Yeah no.

Comet Azur, Stars of Ruin, even Founding Rain of Stars. the tome didn't just describe them as "advanced." It spoke about their creators "glimpsing the primeval current," a cosmic truth beyond mortal comprehension.

Reading that passage made something in me shiver.

The "Primeval Current" wasn't just more magic. It was fundamental. It reminded me way too much of the ROOT from the Nasuverse, something deep, absolute, unreachable without paying some unfathomable price. A metaphysical Cosmos-source, The origin and the end of all sorcery in the Elden Ring.

I stared at the page for a long time.

"Not touching that anytime soon."

Maybe, someday, when I wasn't just a 1 month old mages or I should say Magus since I've been in the Fate universe

I was content being a functional Raya Lucaria freshman. I had a solid, functional set of spells: the primary projectile line (Pebble up to Comet), crowd control (Arc, Stars, Barrage), and utility (Starlight). That was more than enough to handle basic monster encounters.

I had just closed the tome and start doing what I love

Playing video games on a gaming chair with godlike specs, well it's time to upload the Clair Obscur Expedition 33 playthrough.

"TB, prepare the standard protocol if it's been more than a month or has reached the Trending page. Immediately delete the playthrough and remove all traces of the upload the video on the internet because this might be the first longplay on YouTube."

"Understand, Shikikan?"

"Seriously, are you still doing that to get another 'ticket'? It won't work," GLaDOS said to me, either sarcastically or factually

"Well, you could say I'm doing it for the love of the game."

And another day when I troll the internet with spoilers for games that will be released in about 14 years, I'll be back again.

I hope this can go on for a little bit longer.
