Chapter 48 - Kırk Sekiz

Asiyürek, moving to the very back of the orcs lined up in front of a large cauldron, turned to the duo and spoke.

"We will wait a bit, but our turn will come soon."

Alyon, who had fallen into great pessimism after what he heard and saw throughout the day, smiled with pleasure after this behavior. Even though he was the leader of the community, Asiyürek went to the very back of the line and waited for food.

When their turn came shortly as said, Nafız froze motionless looking at the transparent water poured into the bone bowl in her hand.

"Come on, friend, move along if you got your food. We are hungry too!"

Nafız, staring at the strange thing in her hand without minding the grumbles of the orcs behind her, exploded when someone pushed her.

"Do you call this food, you idiot? Don't you dare touch me again!"

"I apologize, but this soup is all we have; we obtain it by boiling wild animal bones!"

Asiyürek was ashamed after his guest's reaction and felt the need to explain hastily.

"There is no situation to apologize for; I am sure you are doing your best."

With the words of Alyon patting his back, the community leader, shedding his tension, stood next to the cauldron with his head bowed. Although she shouted, Nafız understood the situation they were in. A short while ago, they too had to fill their stomachs with the leftovers of the mess hall.

"Dinner is on me tonight. Let a big fire be lit!"

When Nafız shouted before revealing the creature meat she stored in her ring, those around turned to her in amazement. There were no words to describe the feelings of these people seeing meat the size of a small hill.

"Let there be eating and drinking, let there be music and dancing tonight!"

While the orcs started lighting a big fire after Alyon's cry, others grabbing the meat were filling the cauldron. While the members of the community, whose stomachs were full perhaps for the first time since they were born, were having fun with pleasure, Asiyürek asked timidly, "Sir, who are you?"

"You will learn soon; we will need to stay here for a while. In the meantime, you give us detailed information about the latest situation of the region."

During the time required for Kasaphaydo to dispatch units to the bridge with the order he received, Alyon, making observations within the community living a life of exile, would personally see the state societies not governed properly could fall into.

There were orc people sold as slaves and those forced to lead a miserable life to escape this. What he saw seemed to be a harbinger that Alyon, who captured the arid region relatively without shedding much blood, would follow a different path this time.

"Asiyürek, take a group of warriors with you and follow us!"

When Nafız addressed the leader of the community in a commanding manner, the warriors in the group responded with hostile looks. The orcs following Asiyürek upon his wave of hand didn't like Nafız even if she provided meat to the community.

Asiyürek and his warriors, advancing on alert, crossed the bridge following Alyon and Nafız walking in front of them. A surprise awaited the group carrying sticks, wild animal bones, and a few axes on the opposite shore.

About a hundred fully equipped orc warriors lined up in regular formation were scanning them with piercing looks from behind the leather-armored warrior standing in front of them. Although they calmed down when the hulking male orc stood by their side, they watched the female orc's advance with curiosity.

"Greetings to Blood God Nafız!"

When the orcs hit their chests and shouted, the knees of the group that had just crossed the bridge gave way from the intensity of the sound produced. In front of the orc they looked at with anger and hatred, a huge unit was waiting with their heads bowed.

"Do not fear, you are now our friends!"

Just as Alyon completed his words, Kuyag also came quickly and bowed to greet him.

"Great Chief Alyon, as per your order, we took control of the bridge entrance with my unit. Vahşiduvar also set out to clear the bandits in our lands."

The bewildered crowd was stunned once more; they realized the duo they met a short while ago were not normal. Listening carefully to the captain's short report, Alyon said in a stern tone, "These friends are the people who will be your future allies. Accompany them to our tribe and provide all kinds of ammunition support."

"Yes, sir!"

While Kuyag, showing the way respectfully to the group his chief pointed out, returned to his unit with the guests, Nafız let out a deep breath and came to Alyon's side. Seeing that her friend leaning his back against the small hill had a troubled facial expression, she couldn't help but speak.

"What do we need to do after what we heard?"

"BOOMMMM!"

As soon as his friend's words ended, Alyon swung his fist and shattered the hill he leaned his back against. Before waiting for the rocks scattered around from the violence of the blow to hit the ground, he shouted the answer in his mind.

"I will spoil this game, my friend!"

In the moments when the surrounding orcs were terrified due to Chief Alyon's fury, Nafız started laughing heartily.

"It seems I will finally start living up to my name!"

Nafız, who mostly suppressed the violent urges growing inside her as a result of her friend's prevention, already had blood in her eyes. The orcs, whose two commanders were dying for war, also gripped their weapons a bit tighter.

Asiyürek and his team, completing their journey in a short time with the supply-type war vehicle, were like cats that had swallowed the canary when they returned. Although they had been in the tribe for a short time, they had caught the opportunity to learn everything that happened from the warriors of the core tribe.

Especially after learning that the Nikonya army was defeated and taken prisoner in the war, they now looked at the two orcs they previously approached with suspicion as saviors.

"Asiyürek, it's time for us to return. Come on, let's take the first step to liberate the region!"

Chief Alyon's words rendered the orcs, who lived a life of exile for a long time, unable to take a step, but it seemed this situation wouldn't last very long.

"Get your asses up, timid gazelles. Or else, I'll throw you down one by one!"

Nafız was slowly entering massacre mode. She had neither the time nor the patience to spare for such melancholic movements. Although the sight of orcs running rapidly towards the bridge caused giggles among the tribe warriors standing guard, the sounds were cut like a knife with their commander's side-glance.

The amount of ammunition taken from the tribe was substantial, and Asiyürek didn't have enough warriors to carry it. Some of the orcs blockading the bridge were helping the group. When the fully equipped warriors leading the convoy entered the line of sight of the orcs on the other side, a commotion arose in the community.

"Run! The warriors from the other side of the bridge are coming!"

The exiled community had fallen into chaos. While orcs were fleeing in panic, Asiyürek shouted with a booming voice.

"Wait, do not fear!"

The crowd, hearing their leader's voice, suddenly stopped running and turned towards the bridge. Indeed, it was Asiyürek and his warriors coming, but who were the others beside them?

"Asiyürek, I have a proposal for you!"

Alyon observed the mood of the orcs and thought it was time to reconsider a decision he made earlier.

"My goal is to unite the Orc Steppes and restore its children to their former glory. In line with this goal, I will need brave and honest orcs like you."

While the conversation continued, Nafız also joined the duo, put her hand on Asiyürek's shoulder, and started listening to what was being said.

"After capturing your region, you and your friends will be free to join us or establish your own tribe. What do you say?"

While managing a community tired of living constantly on the run, it was natural for Asiyürek to hesitate to trust two orcs he just met. Nafız, understanding this anxiety of the orc under her arm, began to speak.

"I assume you heard some things during your short journey to our tribe, but trust me, those stories will be things not even worth mentioning compared to what we will do in this region!"
