Chapter 112: The Mother Buddha's Obstruction
Marcus walked along the street to the foot of Li Ronan's old house.
Li Ronan had already gone upstairs with Dodo and the real estate agent.
He glanced up at the building; an unsettling atmosphere permeated the air.
People passing by at night would involuntarily feel a chill and quicken their pace.
As Marcus observed,
two crows that had been cawing noisily in a nearby tree suddenly fell silent.
They perched quietly on the treetop, their beady eyes staring intently at Marcus, like lifeless objects.
It seemed the old house also sensed Marcus's presence.
A steel ball appeared in Marcus's left hand. With a sudden swing, the steel ball shot up the tree like a bullet, instantly hitting the two crows, which fell to the ground.
There was no struggle or sound throughout the entire process; it was as if two stuffed animals had been hit.
Marcus stepped onto the stairs.
A mop leaning against the wall beside him fell over without wind, lying across the middle of the stairs,
seemingly blocking his path.
Marcus, expressionless, stomped on the mop handle, snapping it in two with a crack.
The surrounding air seemed to cool.
At the doorway of a room on the second floor.
"Dodo, you play here first. Mom and this gentleman are discussing business."
Li Ronan placed her hands on Dodo's shoulders, guiding the six-year-old into the hallway, then turned and went into the room with the realtor.
Dodo stood there, watching her mother and the man enter, the door even partially closing.
At that moment, a breeze blew by, carrying a voice that seemed to reach Dodo's ears.
"If you don't want your mother to get hurt, then do as I say!"
Dodo could sense it was the Bad Man speaking. She looked up slightly and saw a dark red stain on the ceiling, like water damage.
Two arms emerged from the stain, pale and cold like corpse arms, twice the length of normal arms.
The ten fingers were also extremely thin, with no prominent joints, as if boneless.
They pointed towards the third-floor stairwell.
The stairwell, sandwiched between two walls, was narrow and dark, the steps covered in dust, with several turns leading up, and it seemed as if something might jump out at any moment from a blind spot.
For her mother's safety, Dodo nodded towards the ceiling and stepped onto the stairs in her pink shoes.
Marcus had already made it through several turns in the stairwell. He frowned, looking at the broken mop in front of him.
He stepped over it again, reaching the first landing, and took out a blessed paper.
Following the method he had learned from Master Alex in the Soul Collector case,
he lit the paper and silently recited the prayer.
Then he threw the burning paper on the ground.
'Cleansing Fire!'
Marcus was already considering whether to burn down the building altogether.
The seemingly light, floating ball of burning paper seemed to have broken something.
Marcus stepped forward, this time not lingering at the mop's location, but successfully ascending the stairs.
Li Ronan, who was negotiating prices with the realtor in her second-floor room, suddenly felt a sharp pain in her abdomen.
She quickly leaned against the wall, bent over, and dry heaved.
The nausea and pain brought tears and mucus streaming down her face.
Her intestines felt like they were being churned, as if countless insects were crawling inside.
Li Ronan knew this feeling all too well; it was the anger of the Mother Buddha Deity. Over the years, she had experienced this pain every time the deity was angry.
Seeing Li Ronan bent over retching, the realtor quickly went to her side and patted her back.
"Ms. Li, are you alright? Should we go to the hospital?"
"Could it be food poisoning?"
the suited realtor asked worriedly.
Li Ronan had suddenly approached him yesterday to discuss selling the house. If this deal went through, his commission would be substantial. They were about to sign the contract, and he couldn't afford any problems with the seller.
"What's your name?"
Li Ronan didn't answer the young man's question, but instead spoke in a strained voice while still feeling nauseous.
"What?" the young man thought he had misheard.
"What's your name? Tell me your name!" Li Ronan asked frantically.
"Jimmy Wilson, my name is Jimmy Wilson, Ms. Li, are you okay?"
the realtor, Jimmy Wilson, hurriedly replied.
This answer was like medicine, instantly relieving Li Ronan's abdominal pain.
Ignoring Jimmy, she formed a hand gesture, palms pressed together, and kept chanting:
"Hou-ho-xiu-yi, si-sei-wu-ma; Hou-ho-xiu-yi."
It seemed that only this incantation could bring her a sense of security.
Marcus arrived on the second floor at this time, and the door to the room appeared to be locked.
He kicked it down, and the lock and frame shattered.
"Ahhhhh!"
Blood flowed from his eyes and ears, the realtor screamed shrilly with his eyes tightly closed, his arms outstretched, lunging at Marcus.
His behavior was like that of a possessed person.
"Your client is over there!"
Marcus took out a blessed paper and slapped it across the young man's face.
With a loud crack, accompanied by a sizzling sound, the realtor was knocked to the ground, unconscious.
He had held back, though.
This young man was an innocent victim of Li Ronan's actions; otherwise, a single blow would have killed him instantly.
However, this action seemed to have thoroughly alarmed the building, with a series of crashing and breaking sounds echoing around.
"Hou-ho-xiu-yi..."
Seeing Li Ronan still making hand gestures with her eyes closed, chanting incessantly, Marcus was furious.
She must have developed Stockholm Syndrome from the Mother Buddha Deity.
"Shut up, you're so loud!"
A thick blessed paper slammed upwards onto Li Ronan's chin.
A cracking sound of bone breaking rang out, and a chunk of flesh the size of a grape and several teeth flew out of her mouth.
It was a piece of her tongue.
She had accidentally bitten off a piece of her tongue while chanting the incantation; she would probably never be able to chant again.
Marcus took out rope and tied the two people up.
Li Ronan was still useful; he wouldn't kill her so easily.
As for the realtor, he was just saving him incidentally. Whether he could be saved or not didn't matter; everyone has their own fate.
He picked up the sales contract on the ground and glanced at it. The agent section stated that Jimmy Wilson
could be controlled by the Mother Buddha Deity, so this young man must have given his real name.
"You dare to use your real name selling real estate? You're really naive, kid!"
Marcus stuffed the contract that Li Ronan had already signed into the young man's jacket along with the rope.
Then he got up and walked towards the door.
The moment he stepped out of the room, a pair of pale, elongated hands hung down from the ceiling and grabbed at Marcus.
Marcus slightly bent down to dodge, and the blessed paper was swung in a blur, emitting a whistling sound, and dispersed the hanging hands.
He went up the stairs to the balcony on the third floor.
Dodo was climbing onto the railing on a small stool, wobbling precariously.
With a powerful leap, she was about to jump.
The instant she jumped, a thick, muscular arm grabbed her by the collar, suspending her in mid-air.
Dodo seemed to sense something was wrong; she opened her closed eyes and saw an intimidating bald, bearded man holding her with one hand.
Marcus glanced down slightly.
A pair of pale, slender arms were outstretched below, seemingly waiting to catch her.
Marcus thought for a moment; he couldn't disappoint them.
A blessed motorcycle helmet covered in holy symbols appeared and he threw it down.
With the blessed papers' power, accompanied by a heavy impact, the pale arms were smashed and dissipated.
Marcus turned to look at the attic where the video recording was stored.
