Chapter 23 - Chapter 23: Elf Queen Francesca

Just as the witcher Guilliman thrillingly took down the mother wyvern...

Below Tea Mountain, in a hidden chamber beneath Village Chief Valesa's house, an extremely distinguished guest arrived.

She was a female elf, dressed in a long, pleated white dress with golden lace, possessing long, dark golden hair, sapphire blue eyes, a slender figure, and exquisite beauty. Her expression was cold and elegant, tinged with a hint of melancholy, making it impossible not to be captivated by her.

It was difficult to accurately describe her beauty with words, but whether in noble circles or among sorcerers, this female elf was universally acknowledged as the most beautiful woman in the world.

At the same time, this elf, named Francesca Findabair, known as the 'Daisy of the Valley' and the current Queen of the Elven Kingdom of Dol Blathanna, was also one of the most powerful and influential sorceresses currently alive in The Witcher world.

Although the Valley of Flowers, where the Kingdom of Dol Blathanna was located, had been ordered burned to ruins by King Demavend of Aedirn, this did not diminish Elf Queen Francesca's status as the most powerful and renowned woman in the entire North, and even the entire world.

Seeing this exquisitely beautiful female elf elegantly step through the magic portal, and with a casual flick of her wrist, illuminate the entire secret chamber as if it were day, Valesa, who had been waiting, knelt on one knee and said respectfully:

"Welcome, Your Majesty."

Francesca reached out to help up her most trusted captain of the guard, a fleeting beautiful smile gracing her face. She then moved gracefully and sat on an elven-style wicker chair, saying softly:

"You've worked hard during this time, Valesa."

"I haven't been to Ammonite Village in half a month. Tell me, what has happened during this time?"

Upon hearing this, Valesa stood up, walked to a position below the Elf Queen, and answered respectfully:

"Reporting, Your Majesty."

"During this period, our plan to expand the village has proceeded smoothly, without arousing the suspicion of the local lord."

"Members of the rescue team, under the guise of hiring workers, successfully rescued thirty-two of our kin. Twenty-four of them are willing to leave Temeria and return to live in the Valley of Flowers."

"The other eight wish to work in Ammonite Village."

"With the ten thousand orens you provided, we secretly procured approximately forty tons of supplies in several major cities like Vizima by buying and selling tea."

"This includes thirty-five tons of food, three hundred sets of common clothing and shoes, one hundred and fifty weapons, sixty sets of leather armor, and eight thousand iron arrowheads."

Upon hearing Valesa list a series of supply figures, Francesca's face showed a satisfied smile.

After the Second Nilfgaardian War, through political compromise, the Elven Kingdom was officially recognized and regained its own fiefdom.

At this time, the Valley of Flowers was a scorched earth, a land in ruins, awaiting reconstruction, due to the great fire set by the Kingdom of Aedirn before its withdrawal.

Although these supplies were not extensive, they could greatly alleviate the elf race's urgent needs, bringing warmth and food to those elves who still lived in the Valley of Flowers and had survived the war.

The Kingdom of Temeria was one of the few countries that were not so hostile towards non-human races.

Only here could elves quietly purchase large quantities of supplies and then transport them back to the Valley of Flowers via magic.

Francesca, with a slightly melancholic smile on her face, was about to praise her capable assistant when Valesa's tone paused, and she continued:

"There's also an important matter, Your Majesty."

"As per your instructions, the dragon-hunting team of Yarpen Zigrin, whom we invited by letter, arrived in Ammonite Village three days ago. They are currently hunting the wyvern on top of Tea Mountain."

"Accompanying them is a witcher named Guilliman Gellman."

At this point, the female village chief recounted in great detail to Francesca everything the dwarven dragon-hunting team and the witcher Guilliman had done in the past few days.

This included the preparations made by the dwarven dragon-hunting team in recent days, the witcher Guilliman asking her to forge equipment, and his astonishing feat of clearing over two hundred monsters from the forest in just three days.

However, what Valesa described in most detail was the witcher's predictions and views on non-human races and the future of the elven race when she and Guilliman chatted that night.

These were predictions that the witcher, based on his knowledge of the future and history, made from an observer's perspective, almost all of which would truly happen in the future.

They were definitely more far-sighted and clearer than those of most scholars and politicians across the continent.

As the Elf Queen, who stood at the pinnacle of the entire continent in both personal strength and political influence,

Francesca's smile quickly faded after hearing Valesa's description.

She propped her chin with one hand, her beautiful face showing expressions of contemplation and surprise. Clearly, she had not expected to hear such things from Valesa.

After pondering for a full four or five minutes, Francesca finally parted her red lips and said in an appreciative tone:

"You handled this very well, Valesa."

"From your description and the equipment he forged, this Mr. Guilliman Gellman should be a Viper School witcher from the South."

"Perhaps it is because he lived in the South, witnessed the rise of the Nilfgaardian Empire, its annexation of surrounding countries, and its enslavement of humans, and then recently came to the North, gaining a certain understanding of the Northern Kingdoms."

"That he was able to articulate such clear-minded and far-sighted predictions and views."

"Even I gained much from listening to his discourse."

"And his strength is quite remarkable, able to slay so many monsters in a short time, single-handedly fight a wyvern, and even defeat you in close combat."

"Perhaps his strength is already on par with the legendary Northern witcher, Geralt."

At this point, Francesca also recalled Geralt, the witcher who, a few years prior during the Thanedd Coup, defeated many Scoia'tael and Nilfgaardian sorcerers, nearly thwarted her and Vilgefortz's plans, and subsequently killed the powerful mage Vilgefortz.

Although this witcher was unwilling to participate in the political struggles between nations, many of his actions undoubtedly influenced the global landscape and even the course of the war.

This included his adopted daughter, Princess Ciri, who possessed the Elder Blood.

Thinking of this, the Elf Queen had a realization.

Perhaps it was time to win over the witchers, a special group with considerable combat power.

After all, as fellow non-human races, witchers, like dwarves and elves, were always subjected to human contempt and insult.

The weak should band together for warmth and mutual assistance.

Francesca pursed her red lips, looked at the equally beautiful and valiant elven warrior Valesa, and said:

"This is a witcher well worth winning over, Valesa."

"Don't be stingy with money or anything else; bring him to our side."

"Perhaps sometime in the future, many of our people will be saved because of him."

Upon hearing this command, Valesa, perhaps thinking of something, bit her lower lip, then knelt down and replied respectfully:

"As you command, Your Majesty."
