"How can that be...? How can you use a cursed technique without using your cursed energy?!" Geto asked, his voice cracking slightly as his mind struggled to process the sheer absurdity of what had just happened.
Megumi looked at him like he was explaining basic arithmetic to a toddler. "Like I just said. If I needed cursed energy to absorb cursed energy, wouldn't the ability be completely useless? It's a passive mechanism."
Geto opened his mouth to argue, closed it, and then opened it again. As he processed the words, confusion washed over his face. Wait... when he puts it like that, it actually makes total sense... But wait, no! That doesn't make any sense at all for standard jujutsu mechanics!
"Hey! Hold on a minute!" Gojo suddenly chimed in from the side, throwing his arms up in complete outrage. "If it doesn't require cursed energy to activate, can you even legally call it a cursed technique at all?! Isn't that just a straight-up superpower at that point?!"
Megumi waved a hand dismissively. "Cursed technique, superpower, innate cheat code—call it whatever helps you sleep at night. That's just how it works."
"Anyway," Megumi turned his attention back to Geto, his tone shifting back into business mode. "Let's just tie this guy up and head back. We still need to hunt down his secret collaborator."
Geto's stomach dropped. Cold sweat began to bead on the back of his neck.
His entire master plan had relied on that multi-layered barrier trap to neutralize Gojo and suppress Megumi. Without those seals active, facing two monsters in a direct, head-on fight wasn't just disadvantageous—if either of them got even remotely serious, Geto was going to get one-shot before he could even blink.
"Uh... hey," Geto blurted out, forcing a stiff, awkward smile onto his face as he took a cautious step backward. "Can we... can we go back to talking about our worldviews? I feel like we were really getting somewhere."
"Oh, sure," Megumi replied smoothly. "You can talk all you want once we put you behind bars."
Megumi rubbed his chin, looking at Geto thoughtfully. "Honestly, killing you right here would make way more sense just to avoid future trouble. But with a brain as smooth as yours, I doubt you're going to be much of a threat on your own anyway."
A vein throbbed on Geto's forehead. Even in a life-or-death pinch, his pride as a special-grade sorcerer couldn't take that level of casual disrespect. "Hey! You little bastard! Who are you calling stupid?!"
"You, obviously. Who else?" Megumi scoffed, leaning back. "Think about it. You possess Cursed Spirit Manipulation—one of the most broken, high-potential techniques in the entire history of jujutsu—and you still needed to team up with some mysterious, backshot-taking brain parasite just to set up a cheap trap? What are you, if not stupid?"
Megumi shook his head with a look of genuine disappointment. "You know what? If I were in your position, I would have just stayed best friends with Gojo. I'd act completely loyal, wait for him to drop his guard, poison his tea or stab him while he's sleeping, and then turn his soul into a cursed spirit after he dies. Then I'd use Cursed Spirit Manipulation to absorb Gojo Satoru and turn him into my personal pet. Boom. World conquered in a single afternoon. But instead, you went on a grand villain monologue."
Silence descended upon the broken house.
Geto and Gojo both froze. Their lips twitched violently in unison as they stared at six-year-old Megumi like he was an eldritch horror wrapped in a kid's body.
Who the hell is the real villain here?! Geto screamed internally, a cold shiver running straight down his spine. This kid is an absolute psychopath!
Gojo stared at Megumi with wide, traumatized eyes under his blindfold, taking a mental note: Note to self: Never, under any circumstances, drink tea served by Megumi Fushiguro. Ever.
Realizing that negotiating or stalling was completely off the table, Geto's expression hardened. He gritted his teeth and raised his hands, dark shadows swirling around his feet.
"Don't think I'm going to go down without a fight!" Geto yelled, summoning dozens of high-grade cursed spirits at once. Grotesque, towering monsters erupted from the shadows, filling the small house with a chaotic chorus of shrieks and growls.
Megumi didn't even flinch. He didn't bother weaving through the curses, nor did he bother drawing a weapon. He simply clasped his hands together in a familiar shadow stance and spoke four words without a second's hesitation:
"With this treasure, I summon..."
Geto's eyes nearly popped out of his skull as he recognized the stance. "WAIT! HOLD ON A SECOND! ISN'T THAT WAY TOO MUCH?!"
BOOM!
Before Geto could even order his curses to attack, the ground split wide open. A massive, towering white figure with a heavy wheel hovering above its head materialized in the center of the room. Eight-Handled Sword Divergent Sila Divine General Mahoraga had arrived.
The fight wasn't a fight; it was an execution.
Mahoraga didn't even bother using its blade on the lesser curses. With a casual sweep of its gigantic arm, it pulverized half of Geto's summoned spirits into black dust in less than two seconds. Before Geto could even form a single hand sign to defend himself, Mahoraga vanished in a blur of motion, reappeared directly in front of him, and delivered a devastating two-piece punch straight to his chest and jaw.
BANG! CRASH!
Geto flew backward like a cannonball, smashed straight through three wooden walls of the house, and tumbled across the dirt outside before finally slumping against a tree trunk.
The entire conflict took less than forty seconds.
Mahoraga stood in the wreckage, letting out a low growl, before Megumi casually dispelled the shadow summons with a wave of his hand.
Megumi walked outside through the gaping hole in the wall, approaching Geto's broken body. The special-grade sorcerer was lying face down in the dirt, twitching weakly like a dead dog, completely knocked out cold.
Megumi knelt down, extending his right hand and pressing his palm directly against Geto's back.
Gojo wandered out of the ruined house, scratching his messy white hair as he looked at the scene. "Hey... what are you doing to him?"
"Stealing his cursed technique, obviously," Megumi replied nonchalantly, as a faint, dark aura began to flow from Geto's body into Megumi's hand.
Gojo's jaw dropped so fast it practically hit his chest. "WHAT?! You can absorb whole CURSED TECHNIQUES too?! Isn't that way too fucking unreasonable?!"
Megumi paused, turning his head to give Gojo a flat, deadpan look. "Bro... you literally manipulate the atomic structure of space to bring mathematical paradoxes into physical reality, float off the ground, and erase matter with the color purple. And you think absorbing powers is where the universe draws the line on what's unreasonable?"
Gojo blinked once. Then twice. He rubbed his chin, letting out a small sigh. "...Okay, yeah. You actually have a pretty solid point there."
Gojo leaned down, looking closer. "So... was this your main motive for coming out here to find him in the first place?"
"Yeah," Megumi confirmed, closing his eyes to focus on the sensation. "Otherwise, why else do you think I'd waste my time coming all the way out to the boonies?"
As the absorption process unfolded, Megumi carefully monitored the changes happening within his own body.
His unique absorption ability operated on a very specific set of internal mechanics. In a way, it was somewhat similar to the cellular adaptation principles from the original Ben 10 universe, but adapted to the unique laws of jujutsu.
In the Ben 10 world, when an alien's cellular structure was absorbed, the host's physical cells would physically mutate to mimic the target. However, if a person absorbed too many different cellular structures at once, their original genetic blueprint would lose its stability, causing them to lose control over their physical transformations entirely.
However, in the world of Jujutsu Kaisen, things were fundamentally different. While a cursed technique was technically rooted in the host's physical brain and body, its true core was tied to the user's soul and the specific flow pathways of cursed energy.
When Megumi absorbed Geto's specialized technique cells, his own cells temporarily transformed to mimic the target blueprint. But Megumi didn't need to keep those target cells permanently mutated inside his body.
Instead, he simply passed his own cursed energy through those newly formed pathways several times in rapid succession, forcibly activating Cursed Spirit Manipulation in his mind.
It was the same principle behind how Yuji Itadori eventually gained access to Sukuna's Cleave and Dismantle—by having the technique channeled through his body repeatedly, the blueprint became permanently engraved into his soul and cursed energy pathways.
Once the technique imprint took hold, Megumi's cells reverted to their original, pristine state, completely avoiding any risk of genetic collapse or physical instability.
Megumi felt a sudden, distinct shift inside his inner domain. Beneath his feet, within the boundless dark realm of his shadows, a completely separate, isolated shadow space began to form—a dedicated storage realm exclusively meant for housing absorbed cursed spirits, kept neatly isolated from his Ten Shadows domain.
Nice, Megumi thought, feeling the new technique settle seamlessly into his soul. It worked perfectly.
Megumi pulled his hand back, standing up and dusting off his knees. Geto remained completely unconscious on the ground, blissfully unaware that his life's work had just been cloned.
Megumi turned around, looking straight up at Gojo. "Hey, Gojo. I want to collect on that favor you mentioned earlier."
Gojo froze, taking a cautious step back as he looked down at the six-year-old monster in front of him. "Wait... don't tell me you want MY cursed technique too?!"
"Well, obviously," Megumi said, giving him an 'are you stupid' look. "What else did you think I was asking for? A trophy?"
Gojo suddenly fell into deep hesitation, his brow furrowing beneath his blindfold.
Man... this kid is already overpowered, Gojo thought to himself, running through the mental math. He's got Mahoraga on speed dial; he just casually swallowed Geto's Cursed Spirit Manipulation, and god only knows how many other cursed techniques he's planning to absorb in the future. If I give him Limitless on top of all that, he'll have an absolute, impenetrable defense...
Wait a minute... Gojo paused, his thoughts taking a turn.
Limitless is basically useless without the Six Eyes anyway. Without atomic-level energy manipulation, using Infinity manually drains a ridiculous amount of cursed energy in seconds. Plus... I promised him a favor.
A confident, arrogant smirk slowly spread across Gojo Satoru's face. How could he, the strongest sorcerer alive, back down from a promise just because a kid was a little cheat code?
"Alright," Gojo grinned, tossing his hands into his pockets. "I agreed!"
