Chapter 50 - CHAPTER 50 — WHEN FOREVER KNOCKED

There are moments in life that arrive quietly.

No dramatic music.

No lightning.

No one shouting your name from across a crowded room.

Just a shift.

A subtle, almost invisible click in the machinery of your heart.

Mira felt it on an ordinary Tuesday.

Which annoyed her.

She had expected forever, if it ever dared approach her, to do so with fireworks and a warning label.

Instead, she was elbow-deep in flour behind the café counter while Leo argued passionately with a delivery driver about the moral integrity of gluten-free bread.

"Bread should suffer," Leo insisted.

"It's flour," the driver said flatly.

"It's principle."

Mira rolled her eyes.

Across the café, Adrian sat with two teenagers from the community center, guiding them through a debate exercise. He wasn't commanding. He wasn't performing. He was listening. Leaning forward. Encouraging.

She watched him laugh when one of the kids dramatically accused the other of "intellectual treason."

Her chest warmed.
