A round of drunken cheers erupt all around me,
I sit close to the counter, silently sipping at the glass of liquor- only that my sips were empty.
Blending in with the patronage of this bar, the stake out location for my targets.
My targets?
I closely watch their drunken stupor- laughing and cheering silly.
Not a direct observation but from the reflections on my glass.
I have to be careful, lest they feel my gaze, lock on to my intent- it would be troublesome to deal with them here.
A bar brawl was the last thing I wanted.
Speaking of watching,
My targets were a duo of humans- adventurers, albeit young.
One of them, the blonde one looks barely twenty- It would be so unfortunate to end such a life.
Heh! As if I'm the one to speak, barely the same age myself!
His comrade, a wiry and tense chal- constantly looking around.
It's him I have to be careful of.
I recognize a keen eye when I see one- I acknowledge him.
But the crossbow on his back said all there was to be said about his combat capability- lethal at range.
Unfortunate for him, he'd drawn my ire, I wouldn't let him capitalize on it.
There wasn't anything noteworthy past their general looks- typical adventurers, trying their luck in life.
I will not let that blind me though, for I knew anything can happen in the chaos of combat.
Getting full of myself will cost me dearly.
The hours drag on, I had to shift positions during the course of my stalk.
It was close to midnight now, yet they kept at it- drinking their senses numb.
A crooked smile marrs my visage- let them drink themselves silly, my job would only be easier.
"Anytime now," I murmur, calming down the flaring impatience.
There!
Finally, the duo have their fill, they turn to leave.
My gaze locks onto them- not directly, I keep their figures just at the corner of my vision.
Skulking behind, I take cover behind a stall,
The dark haired guy glances back, puzzled.
I leave no trace as I glide closely behind, letting them move to an isolated street.
My target ambush spot draws closer and closer, my fingers twitch, coiling around the hilts of my daggers.
There!
I steady, my muscles tensed, ready to uncoil releasing devastation in their wake.
I bid my time, swinging only when they least expect-
Twak!
My figure cuts across the air,
I skillfully twist mid- air, adjusting my flight on the fly.
I land with a silent step- almost silent
As the wiry black haired bastard glances back.
Only to come face to face with my gleaming dagger- whistling as it cut through the air.
I twist it at the last second, hitting his spine with the pommel.
The guy topples over, temporarily paralysed from the neck down.
"Huh!"
His comrade lets out a startled yelp.
His drunken stupor fading at the sense of danger.
He fumbles trying to unsheathe his sword.
I watch, letting him do so- if I want to really give a resounding scare, then I'll have to systematically dismantle him.
Now that his comrade is decomissioned, I have nothing to fear- the odds are stacked in my favour.
Sword in hand, the blonde guy apprehensively regards my casual stance.
"Wh...who are you?"
"What do you want?"
Silence is the only answer he gets- my green eyes ominously glowing behind my hooded face.
I draw closer, the guy tenses, swinging his sword.
Pitiful!
I slide below his swing, delivering an abrupt and devastating blow to his sternum.
He squirms, his stance faltering.
I retreat, a couple of steps back.
Giving him time to gather his composure.
Satisfied, I go in for a strike,
Lunging to the right, he flinches, swinging to parry my perceived slash
Falling for my trap, a feint
His left side is exposed,
I crouch inwards, rising up with a slash across his breast to his left shoulder
"Ahh!"
A piercing scream of pain erupts from his throat.
I let out a crazed chuckle, visibly enjoying the torment I inflicted.
"Please! Let us go!" He pleads, realising that he's being toyed with.
Again, only silence greets back- with a light and amused chuckle.
Seeing my unresponsive self, he goes on the defence, his back turned to his limp comrade- paralyzed but lucid nonetheless.
I creep in,
Sliding aganist the paved street
Shiiik!
My blade traces the back of his foot- his archilles tendon, cutting it open.
The air is rent with a nerve-wracking scream.
I savour the cries of pain- visibly moaning as if pleased.
What a deranged psycho!
"Please!" The guy pleads
Shik!!
The second heel parts open in the wake of my devastating strike.
The guy topples over, clutching his heels.
I kick his sword to the side,
Getting close, I plunge the dagger into his shoulder, yanking it out, careful not to sever any major blood vessels.
Sniffing the bloody blade, I intimately trace its blade across his face, stopping just before his eyes.
I let out a moan
And muster the most deranged voice I could.
"You took what is not yours," I drawl, almost too intimate,
Both their eyes widen in realisation.
The paralysed guy tries to speak up, failing terribly, a rivulet of tears run down his visage.
His attempt to plead failing- he pleadingly looks at his comrade, wordlessly asking him to plead in his stead.
"We're sorry, I'll return the weapons!"
"Its too late now, don't you think?" I intone, my voice humming in an ominous melody.
"No! Please!" The guy cries, tears flowing.
"You have been warned!" I drawl, swinging the dagger.
Knocking him out with the pommel.
The paralysed comrade tenses, trying to muster the strength to stand but all his efforts resulting in futility.
I step onto his head, turning him over.
His face turns to the side, no longer gazing at my figure.
I stand over him for a moment, letting the tension thicken.
Content, I unsling the crossbow off his back, he flinches feeling the movement of my hands.
I lean close to his ears and whisper
"I'll be watching!"
The next moment, his vision turns black- knocked unconscious.
I loosen a weary exhale, being in character had taken a lot.
Nonetheless, I am certain my presence will be remembered- engraved onto their memories.
My mission is complete, I've scarred them for life- Shardu won't be bothered by these assholes any longer.
I glance at the limp bodies-
Might as well as rob them blind (smirks)
