Chapter 19 - The True Monster

In a spacious room, numerous projections floated, displaying every inch of the dome.

Many people sat watching the battles raging everywhere.

Among them was the person who had explained the rules of the test.

His name was Darin.

He watched one of the screens with a happy smile.

Remaining time:

[4:37:45]

Top ten rankings:

1.Elliot Sivrax [1463]

2.Garon Blackfall [1370]

3.Ellen Asterval [1201]

4.Caius Astroweild [1145]

5.Izel Ashvil [981]

6.Kyle Astro [971]

7.Leona Starlin [934]

8.Ivan Rexel [856]

9.....

10.....

Since the beginning of the test, the same people had occupied the top eight positions, while the last two ranks had changed several times.

"Students this year are something completely different," Darin spoke, while many nodded in agreement.

Suddenly, most of the attention shifted to one of the projections showing two people standing face to face.

It was Caius and Garon.

"Looks like we'll finally witness an exciting fight," Darin spoke, voicing the thoughts of others.

They watched Caius trying to convince Garon to conserve his energy for other fights, and how Garon refused and attacked him.

When Garon lunged at Caius, many held their breath, focusing on the fight that was about to begin.

But contrary to their expectations, the clash lasted only a single moment before Garon flew away with a single punch from Caius.

Silence filled the room.

Before anyone could ask:"Was that an Extractor?"

Each rank carried a name describing it.

First rank: AbsorptionSecond rank: PurificationThird rank: Extractor

Unlike the first and second ranks, those of the third rank could extract pure essence outside their bodies.

"No… it's just an imitation," one said.

Then Darin nodded and explained:"If a second-rank person reaches an advanced level of essence control, they can mimic third-rank abilities… but it's still a clumsy imitation that consumes a lot of essence and is useless in most situations."

He looked at the screen and continued:"Garon's hardening ability protects him from most external injuries, but his internal organs remain intact… so Caius gathered essence in his fist, and upon contact with Garon, he released all the essence at once inside Garon's body, sending a shockwave through his solid body."

Another muttered:"A monster."

Darin nodded:"Yes, it's a very rare talent… but—"

He directed his gaze to another projection showing a different person.

"Still lacking compared to a true monster."

...

Elsewhere in the destroyed city, a lone young man walked, his long sword in hand.

This young man seemed out of place in this ugly environment.

With golden hair and bright yellow eyes, adding to his near-perfect features, he shone brightly compared to the surroundings.

Elliot Sivrax, ranked first and destined to face the void system, moved between the ruined buildings.

Then, at one moment, he stopped.

From among the collapsed buildings, numerous people emerged from all directions, forming a circle around him.

Of course, one of the groups formed to ensure they passed this test. It was not the first group Elliot had encountered.

On his way here, he had crushed many strong individuals and many similar groups.

Elliot looked around, his eyes scanning his opponents."Eight people, slightly strong," he thought.

One of them smiled:"Hello, handsome boy… seems your luck ends here."

He nodded to his companions, and they began approaching Elliot.

The flaw in this test was that you didn't know the others, so you couldn't tell who was first or last.

"It's not my luck that's ending, but yours," Elliot spoke as he prepared for battle.

Essence surged through his body, activating one of his abilities.

In the next moment, immense pressure fell on the area. The eight froze, losing their balance for a moment, while dust particles in the air clung to the ground.

"What… what is this immense pressure?" one shouted.

This was one of Elliot's abilities: [Gravity Manipulation].As the name suggests, Elliot could manipulate gravity as he wished.

Then he activated his second ability.

An ability that allowed him to manipulate space.

He stepped toward one of the opponents, and as if the distance didn't exist, he appeared directly in front of him.

His opponent was stunned and raised his sword toward Elliot, but the doubled gravity slowed his movements. Elliot's sword moved with incredible precision, cutting down his opponent, eliminating him.

The remaining seven were already moving to attack him.

The first to reach him was a massive individual wielding a war hammer, and with a monstrous roar, the hammer fell toward Elliot:"Die, you bastard!"

But Elliot had already vanished from his place, appearing beside the hammer-bearer. His sword struck his opponent's neck before he could recover… the second one was eliminated.

One down, and three were already against him.

"Don't underestimate him, he's extremely strong!" one shouted to his companions.

The moment the three surrounded him, gravity pressure activated again, hampering their movements.

Elliot showed no mercy:"If you wanted to pass the test, you shouldn't have faced me."

His sword moved faster than his words, eliminating the third person.

Then he turned to another who was pointing a spear at his heart. He deflected it with his sword before delivering a fatal strike, eliminating the fourth.

Four remained, all surrounding him, fear evident on their faces.

"What if we forget what happened and each go our separate ways?" one tried to negotiate.

"Sorry, but I need these points."

Before he finished speaking, he was already on his opponent.

The fifth was eliminated.

The others tried to encircle him, but he avoided them through spatial manipulation, eliminating one with every strike.

In the end, he stood alone. His breathing was slightly rough, and it was clear the battle had exhausted him a little.

But most importantly, he had gained an enormous amount of points.

He looked ahead before continuing forward.

...

[2:34:32]

The test was approaching its end.

The space inside the dome had been tightened, while over seventy-five percent of the participants had been eliminated.

As the number of prey dwindled and the hunting area shrank, predators would be forced to claim their place against each other.

In a green plain area, Ellen Asterval stood in front of a tall young man with green eyes.

It was Ivan Rexel, ranked eighth.

"Hello, Your Highness… you won't try to take revenge on me if you lose here, right?"He asked, adjusting his stance and preparing for battle.

Ellen smiled:"Don't worry, you won't win anyway."

With these words, four swords that she carried at her waist floated around her.

Then, in the next moment, the ground shook…

And the battle began.
