Chapter 55 - A Heaven-Sent Genius!

Chang'an City.

At noon, Tian Xin and Chairman Tian finally had the rare chance to sit down and eat together at home.

Tian Xin usually lived on campus, so coming back was uncommon. Chairman Tian, on the other hand, was always busy with work and rarely stayed home. This time, knowing his daughter was back, he deliberately squeezed time out of his schedule to return for lunch.

Naturally, both of them cherished this rare moment.

Chairman Tian personally went into the kitchen and cooked a full table of dishes Tian Xin loved. After his wife passed away in an accident years ago, Tian Xin had essentially been raised by him alone, and over time, he had developed quite respectable cooking skills.

Halfway through the meal, Chairman Tian suddenly asked,

"Have you decided yet? What are you planning to evolve your Eevee into?"

"Let's wait a bit longer, Dad. I'm not in a rush—why are you in such a hurry?" Tian Xin muttered.

Chairman Tian frowned, put his bowl down, and said,

"What do you mean I shouldn't be anxious? Eevee has already hit a bottleneck. The longer you delay its evolution, the more you're holding it back!"

"I don't get it—you just don't understand!" Tian Xin retorted. "This is an agreement between me and Eevee. If it's going to evolve, it's going to evolve into the strongest form!"

"The strongest?" Chairman Tian snorted. "Then why didn't you use the top-grade Thunder Stone I brought back last time? Do you know how much effort I've put in for you?"

As he spoke, something suddenly occurred to him.

"Before, you were clearly leaning toward Jolteon. But ever since that kid—Oliver—showed up, you've been acting strange. Don't tell me he talked you into this?"

Tian Xin immediately shot back,

"What do you mean 'talked me into it'? I'm not someone who just does whatever others tell me! I have my own thoughts. I genuinely want Eevee to wait before evolving."

Chairman Tian was so angry he lost his appetite. He slammed his chopsticks down.

"So that's how it is. That kid really fed you some kind of bewitching words."

Even though he had suspected this before, the thought of the cabbage he had carefully raised being snatched away by someone else's pig still made his blood boil.

Tian Xin turned her head away stubbornly.

"You're impossible to talk to!"

"Ee-vee!"

Just as the two were locked in a stalemate, the Eevee beside them—who had been happily munching on an energy block—suddenly burst into a blinding white light!

"What?!"

Both of them turned their heads instantly.

Chairman Tian murmured in shock,

"No Evolution Stone… Could this be one of the two most difficult evolutions? …Right, it's daytime. This must be Espeon!"

His gaze subconsciously shifted to Tian Xin, and a thought crossed his mind.

Did I misunderstand her? Was she aiming for Espeon all along? Psychic-type is indeed strong and one of the most popular evolutions…

But Tian Xin looked even more shocked than he was, repeatedly muttering,

"It's real… It actually worked… It really evolved into this form!"

Suddenly remembering something, she hurriedly took out her phone and started recording.

Within the glow of evolution, Eevee's body gradually grew larger.

However, Chairman Tian soon noticed something was off.

The silhouette inside the light didn't quite match his memory of Espeon. There seemed to be additional, decorative features around the body.

As the light faded, a brand-new Pokémon appeared before them.

Its body was primarily white. There was a ribbon-like bow on its left ear and another around its neck, with long, flowing ribbon-tails fluttering gently in the air.

Chairman Tian stared, dumbfounded.

"This is… a Pokémon I've never seen before!"

Tian Xin excitedly rushed forward and hugged it tightly. The newly evolved Pokémon happily wrapped its ribbon-like feelers around her arm—something it instinctively did with trainers it adored.

"Congratulations! Sylveon—you finally evolved successfully!" Tian Xin shouted joyfully.

"Syl~ve!"

The Pokémon's pale blue eyes sparkled with happiness.

Chairman Tian stammered,

"Xiao Xin… what is this? And 'Sylveon'—is that a name you came up with?"

Tian Xin shook her head.

"No. Oliver told me the name. This is part of his latest research—Eevee's brand-new evolution. The first Sylveon in the world."

"Oliver…" Chairman Tian repeated softly.

As a figure who had recently shaken the research world, this name was far from unfamiliar to him. Later, when he learned that his daughter had avoided being dragged into the secret realm because of Oliver, he had felt genuine gratitude toward the young man.

Unfortunately, due to post-incident cleanup and Oliver leaving in a hurry, they never had the chance to meet.

Later, Chairman Tian heard Zhu Qianwei's evaluation of Oliver—calm, composed, and carrying an air of absolute control.

Now, seeing Sylveon with his own eyes, he realized he had still underestimated him.

"Then… what type is Sylveon?" Chairman Tian asked.

"I don't know yet," Tian Xin replied honestly.

"But Oliver said that soon, he'll publish his new research. When that happens, it will definitely shock the entire world!"

Chairman Tian looked deeply at his daughter's expression—filled with pure admiration—and found himself unable to say anything to refute it.

"This really is a discovery capable of causing an enormous stir," he said slowly.

"Sylveon… It's a very fitting name."

Sylveon was a Pokémon that had never appeared before humanity. As its discoverer, Oliver naturally had the right to name it.

If the discovery that Feebas could evolve into Milotic had once been dismissed as luck or coincidence…

Then producing another world-shaking result in such a short time was more than enough to prove Oliver's true strength as a researcher.

Many university professors spent their entire lives without fully cracking even a single research subject.

Yet this eighteen-year-old youth had produced two revolutionary discoveries in just half a year.

A genius born of heaven.

A once-in-a-generation prodigy.

Chairman Tian could find no better words.

In recent years, as humanity's understanding of Pokémon had gradually deepened, research breakthroughs of this magnitude had become increasingly rare—leading to a stagnation in overall progress.

But perhaps…

This young man would be the one to break that deadlock, and lead humanity to a deeper understanding of Pokémon.
