Chapter 51 - A Champion-Level Bodyguard!

Oliver had at least some understanding of the name Genesis Society.

It was an internationally notorious terrorist organization.

According to rumors, the Genesis Society had been founded not long after Pokémon secret realms first descended upon the world. To this day, it still hadn't been eradicated. No one knew who stood behind it, nor where its headquarters were located—everything about it was shrouded in mystery.

It was a cult-like terrorist organization whose core doctrine was extreme to the point of madness: overthrow the Pokémon League, even destroy all of humanity, and then "recreate" the world.

In its early years, the Genesis Society hid in the shadows beyond the League's reach, known only to a select few.

It wasn't until a major terrorist incident fifteen years ago that they were fully exposed to the public eye. Since then, the Pokémon League had continuously tried to suppress them—but with very limited success.

Their official members were thoroughly brainwashed, like living dead. Once captured, they would commit suicide immediately, leaving the League with no intelligence at all.

As for the outer members who weren't brainwashed, capturing them was nearly pointless—they operated under strict single-line contact. There was no way to trace the organization through them.

The driver who had targeted Oliver this time was one such outer member in Rong City. That was the only reason Oliver had been able to pry information out of him.

Oliver suddenly asked,

"Did you also send a very powerful woman to monitor me?"

The driver froze for a moment, then answered honestly,

"No. This mission only involved me. There was no woman."

Oliver lowered his gaze in thought, his expression unchanged, and said nothing more.

The driver carefully observed the young man in front of him, trying to guess his intentions.

The Genesis Society was terrifyingly powerful—even the Pokémon League couldn't do anything about them after decades. With such a colossal force extending an invitation, how could this boy possibly refuse?

"Genesis Society is far too strong… it's not something people like us can oppose," the driver said cautiously, trying to persuade himself as much as Oliver.

"You're already on their radar. Why not just—"

If he joins… I should be safe, the driver thought desperately.

But Oliver's eyes were deep and cold, like a bottomless abyss. No matter how one tried to peer into them, nothing could be seen.

The driver didn't dare meet his gaze and quickly lowered his head.

Then a chilling voice sounded.

"Are you threatening me? Do you really think that will save your life?"

The driver jerked his head up in terror.

"You're really going to completely offend the Genesis Society?! They'll hunt you endlessly! Your family, your friends—they won't spare a single one!"

Oliver replied calmly, his voice devoid of emotion,

"So what if I don't join? And so what if I do?"

"With my abilities, if I joined, I'd at least be a core researcher. By then, do you really think they'd kill me over an insignificant outer member like you?"

"In other words—no matter what—I was never planning to let you live."

"This is the price of threatening the people around me."

Before the driver could say another word, sheer psychic force erupted.

In his horrified eyes, his brain was violently shredded.

This was reality.

From the moment he accepted the mission, his death had already been sealed. Even if Oliver had been forced to agree to join Genesis Society, he would still have found a chance to kill him later.

Now, however, things were different.

By openly rejecting the Genesis Society, assassination attempts would inevitably follow. Worse still, his mother and Jiang Shuyun could become targets.

Looks like I'll have to rely on the League, Oliver thought calmly.

Once I publish my Fairy-type research, the League's valuation of me will skyrocket. With their protection, Genesis Society won't dare act recklessly.

Oliver never acted without planning an escape route. Reckless hot-blooded stupidity had never described him.

This was his first time killing someone.

Yet he felt no discomfort.

From the moment he arrived in this world, he had already prepared himself.

This was a world where the strong preyed on the weak—far more brutal than the bloodless killings of his previous life.

Just as Oliver finished handling the body and prepared to leave—

"Clap. Clap. Clap."

He turned his head.

A tall woman wearing sunglasses walked over, applauding lightly as she did so.

Oliver frowned slightly.

He recognized her instantly—the mysterious powerhouse living next door, the same woman who had made him instinctively uneasy from the very beginning.

"Sharp perception. Absolute calm. Flexible thinking. Decisive cruelty," the woman praised with a smile.

"A perfect counter-kill."

"You've been following me since this morning?" Oliver asked coldly.

"How else would I have seen such a wonderful performance?" she replied cheerfully.

"Who would've thought that an eighteen-year-old genius researcher would also have such ruthlessness? I like you more and more."

She tilted her head, her tone filled with fanaticism.

"So I'll give you another chance. Join us—the Genesis Society. You'll see a completely different world."

Oliver's expression didn't change.

"Stop acting," he said calmly. "You're from the League, aren't you?"

The woman froze.

Her composed, intellectual expression cracked for the first time.

"…You saw through me?"

"You just confirmed it yourself."

She stared at him in disbelief.

She had planned to scare him, maybe enjoy watching him panic—but instead, she had been tricked into exposing her identity.

At first, Oliver hadn't been certain either. After all, information from an outer member wasn't fully reliable. This was nothing more than a calculated probe.

"The two people Genesis Society sent before," Oliver continued,

"You dealt with them, didn't you?"

"That's right. Just handled it on the side."

"Then you were sent by the League to protect me?"

She smiled faintly.

"I do belong to the Pokémon League. But that doesn't mean I'm here to protect you."

"And the League didn't pay me to do so."

"If you want my protection," she added lightly,

"Then you will have to pay me."

Oliver's heart stirred.

He had now completely offended the Genesis Society. Until his new research was published, the danger level around him would be extremely high.

And this woman… was the strongest Trainer he had ever encountered.

If she guarded him and his family, their safety would rise to an entirely different level.

"I'm just a poor eighteen-year-old student," Oliver said frankly.

"I don't have anything worthy of paying you."

She wagged her finger.

"Oh, but you do."

"…What?"

"Top-tier Energy Blocks."

Oliver frowned slightly.

So the League already leaked that information…

Seeing through his thoughts, the woman added,

"Don't worry. Right now, I'm the only one who knows. I used some special authority to obtain that intel."

In any case, Oliver had no better choice.

For now, only she could guarantee his family's safety.

"Fine," Oliver said decisively.

"How many Energy Blocks do you want?"

Her eyes lit up.

"So you have a lot, huh? Then… ten top-tier Water-type Energy Blocks per day?"

She had planned to settle for eight if he bargained.

Instead—

"Deal."

Oliver agreed without hesitation.

Only ten?

I can make that in half an hour.

Using that price to hire such a terrifyingly strong Trainer was an absolute bargain.
