Alastor opened the door to the boys' apartment. It was quiet as usual. Inko was still at work, and Alastor dropped his bag of empty water bottles to the floor and limped into the kitchen area to grab more water.
'Pathetic body… Why must I put all this work into getting this boy's body back into shape? Why could this boy not put in the effort to achieve his dream?'
Now Alastor was annoyed, but he wasn't actually angry with the boy, not many could live the life the boy had and still have a dream. But as he walked past the dinner table, he froze; on the table were several opened letters on the table. One he knew all too well. Bank statements, specifically stating that Inko was behind on payments. A cold feeling of regret suddenly churned in Alastor. When he had been alive previously, he had the opportunity to help his mother, but his bastard of a father stole that from him.
He gently lifted it up as he examined it closely. And what he read made a high-pitched deer screech ring out in the apartment. The sound made the hairs on other inhabitants of the building rise up, and shivers of fear coursed through them.
Extra payments for "Defective Inhabitant." "Disruptive Inhabitant." It made the claws on his hand sharpen and extend, tearing into the paper.
"It seems I will need to make a few… Appointments."
——
It only took ten minutes, and Alastor was striding into the office of the apartment landlord. His hands were now almost completely covered in red and black deer fur, with his fingers dulled until he wished. He strode forward, his dress shoes snapping against the floor, and almost by the sound alone, could somebody tell the person walking was angry. A Clack accompanied each footstep as a newly refurbished radio cane twirled with every other step. But the smile… The smirk was as deceptive as a moth, evolved to be as pretty as a butterfly. But when it got past your defense, it left its dust to rot your valuables away.
Instead, it was a wide and happy smile with eyes that pulsed red with suppressed anger. Somebody was in store for some pain, yet nobody knew it yet.
Mr Taka. A plump man who had once had ambitious dreams of being a pro bodybuilder. He had spent years training his body; he had everything. Looks, strength, and money from endorsements. He had the perfect life, that was until he lost his first competition and decided it wasn't for him. He stopped working and used his remaining money to buy an Apartment building and started his own small business. Nobody had to know about the shady back deals and excessive taxing he did on his tenants. It was just business.
Speaking of business, that quirkless brat with the bitch of a mom was supposedly coming on by for a meeting. At one point, he had considered trying to make a move on the boy's mother when she still had her figure. But ever since she had that kid, she lost her beauty to him. Mr Taka could not see the hypocrisy in his words as he hitched up his pants over his large body. He smiled at the thought of the family; he had never seen a family so willing to put up with his excessive payments. He chuckled at the memory of when he had given that lady a bill triple the amount of his other tenants, and she had thanked him. And with the brat being quirkless, that shitty family was single-handedly paying for half the bills that went into his pocket.
A single firm knock sounded on the door, and Mr Taka paused. He almost believed he had misheard. That was until somebody spoke.
"Well? Mr Taka? We have a meeting appointed now. Are you gonna let me in?"
The voice was familiar, but at the same time not. The voice had a distinct cadence, almost like Mr Taka was hearing it through a radio. But the only reason Mr Taka did not recognize the voice because it was not meek, it was calm, it was self-assured. It was everything Izuku Midoriya was not.
"Ah! Of course… Come in?"
The change in voice had startled him from removing the other bills he had planned to send out to the other inhabitants of the building. What walked in next was even stranger.
A boy, same face, same freckles, same height. But different, Red hair mixed in with the green as small horns jutted out from his head. But his walk, his walk was of something that was ready to feast.
"Well, it has been a long time, Mr Taka! It's not pleasant at all to see you! How have you been?"
The words were clear, but the tone was disarming.
"I- Yes, What? Who are you?"
Mr Taka was able to get a question out despite his confusion, and Midoriya was happy to answer.
"You don't recognize me? How hurtful, not that I would recognize you if you actually worked out once in a while. But miracles are past the point! I am Midoriya the one, and only and perhaps miracles are not past the point because I developed a quirk!"
He spun an old chair around and sat in front of Mr Taka, who was having a hard time keeping up with the charming smile and venomous words.
"What? Since when? H-how?"
Mr Taka was still on the quirk issue, while Midoriya had spun his cane around his fingers with a flourish and rested it on his side.
'Since when did he walk around with a cane?"
"Oh, i just happened to be in the wrong place wrong time, you know."
"Uhh, yeah, I do."
He did, in fact, not know.
"Well then! I should get into the reason for this meeting, shall I?"
Midoriya continued while seeming perfectly comfortable in the weakening chair.
"I-i Yes, of course, hurry it up now. I am a busy man."
Mr Taka seemed to gain some confidence once the fast words and thinking were past.
"Well then, I should get right into it."
Midoriya seemed casual as he stood up, confusing Mr Taka. After dusting his pants off, he stepped forward, then with a bright smile, he reached across the desk and grabbed the back of Mr Taka's head.
*Slam!*
Smashed his head into the desk with enough force to splinter the table. A loud crunch accompanied the blood that spurted across the desk as Alastor let go and let Mr Taka fall back as he clutched his nose.
"Mi N-ose! Mi Noose! Yoh bok mi noose!"
Mr Taka yelled as he clutched his bleeding nose while Alastor smiled brightly.
"Yes, yes, I did. You are quite a perceptive man, Mr Taka."
Alastor stepped around the desk and stood tall over the whimpering man.
"ii cly the Policc!"
Mr Taka threatened, but that only made Alastor's smile widen as he picked up several pages off the table. Bills.
"Oh no, you won't. Want to know why?"
Mr Taka's eyes were glued to the bills in his hand, but were suddenly wrenched away as he was suddenly face to face with Izuku, his eyes spun like an old radio as his voice seemed to glitch and distort.
"Ask Me, Why."
It wasn't a request; it was a demand of a king telling his servants to kneel. Mr Taka trembled as blood covered his face, but through the pain, he mustered the strength.
"W-whuh?"
"Thank you for asking! And the reasons are quite simple! I'll expose all the extortion you have committed against the people in this building and the drug deals."
Mr Taka's eyes widened as Izuku spat words like they were candy when he thought they were carefully kept secrets. In truth, the entire building knew about the drugs but not the extortion.
"I'll burn down this place with you in it unless you do exactly as I say, got it?"
The smile on Alastor's face was kind, but Mr Taka could only feel fear as the smile pierced what he felt was his very soul. All he could do was nod in fear as he breathed in blood.
"Good, I am glad we could come to an agreement!"
Midoriya sat back down on his creaking chair as he got comfortable.
"First off, you're never going to extort the people of this building again. The drug deals I don't care about but Inko hates what it does to people, so if I ever hear about a deal happening around here again, I'll stick a stop sign down your throat."
Mr Taka, who was in the process of getting up, froze at the casual threat.
"Next is you're going to tell Inko you have been having a good week and you're not going to charge Inko any more bills out of the goodness of your wretched heart."
Mr Taka looked like he was going to say something, but Midoriya beat him to it.
"And if I see so much as a paper clip from you, I'll come back here and rip your teeth out and feed them to you with a bat."
Mr Taka froze again, trembling as Midoriya stood up, holding his cane and stepping forward.
"Do we have a deal?"
The claw crackled with green arcs of energy, and his smile pulsed with a yellow glow. Mr Taka looked horrified at the hand.
"If you don't accept,… There are… more fun ways to deal with a problem."
Alastor grinned as Mr Taka shook his hand.
"Pleasure doing business, ya old chap!"
