Argus scoffed.
"Professor, I don't think anything is more important than my life."
"That's Voldemort. Even if it's just a remnant soul, it's not something I can handle."
Upon hearing Argus's words, Dumbledore's heart sank.
The worst thing about doing business is dealing with people who refuse to open their mouths.
You can negotiate any price, no matter how high.
But if you're not even willing to offer a price, what's the point of talking?
Having read the original book, Argus knew very well what Dumbledore wanted to do.
He simply felt he wouldn't be at Hogwarts when Harry was fighting Voldemort, and wanted someone to keep an eye on Harry and protect him a little.
Just in case something really happens to Harry!
But what good does this do for me?
Dumbledore simply didn't have a price that would tempt him.
Philosopher's Stone? Forget it! If he hadn't read the original book, he might have been tempted, but he already knew what kind of monster Nicolas Flamel was.
He knew that immortals like Flamel were frail, their bones so brittle they could break even from a gust of wind.
What's the use of such immortality?
The rest consisted of Dumbledore's magical knowledge and the Order of the Phoenix.
With Argus's current level, he could learn magic just as well no matter who his teacher was!
Which professor can't teach first-year students the knowledge they need? Unless they reach a certain level on their own.
But that will take at least a few more years, and it's uncertain whether Dumbledore will still be alive by then!
As for the Order of the Phoenix, it goes without saying. Dumbledore might dare to offer it, but Argus might not even dare to accept it!
Sirius Black, Lupin, Snape...aren't they all Harry's protégés?
No matter how strong you are, if you can't command them, you're just an empty shell!
Having figured this out, Argus's smile became even more contemptuous.
"Professor Dumbledore, if there is nothing else, I shall take my leave."
"As for protecting Harry... I think several professors are more suitable than me. Professor Snape would be quite good, and he would probably be happy to go."
"Argus, I think we can discuss this further."
"There's no need for that, Professor Dumbledore."
Argus got up to say goodbye, giving Dumbledore no chance to persuade him to stay.
Dumbledore was left alone in the messy office.
On the office wall, several principals silently watched everything that had just happened.
"Albus, the child is right. It is indeed a bit too hasty to let an eleven-year-old child face these things."
A witch in a black robe and pointed hat spoke on behalf of Argus.
An old man with a goatee nodded in agreement: "That's right, the Grindelwald family is really lucky, with two generations of talent that are the envy of everyone."
"Come on! Black! And Elizabeth Burke! You like anything pure-blood!"
A round-faced, blonde witch was very unhappy with their conversation and turned to Dumbledore.
"However, Albus, they are right about one thing: it is indeed a bit too much to ask an eleven-year-old child to deal with such a powerful enemy."
Dumbledore lay down in the rocking chair.
Whenever he felt upset, he would try to find a moment of peace here.
"I am well aware of this child's talent and ability."
"With Fawkes and the spell on Harry, he'll be fine."
"But did you notice his eyes!" Armando Dippet, Dumbledore's former headmaster, said sternly.
"I've seen the same look in another student before."
"That's... ambition!"
After a moment of contemplation, Dumbledore slowly said, "Headmaster Dippet, we've already made one mistake, and I don't want to make a second one."
"He is different from Voldemort; he understands the meaning of love better than Voldemort."
Dippet didn't speak again, but the blonde, round-faced witch raised another question: "Albus, if Mr. Grindelwald is unwilling to help, are there any other alternatives?"
"Doesn't Mr. Potter have many friends?"
Dumbledore's mind flashed to Ron's face, then he shook his head.
"Fine, I'll have Fawkes keep an eye on it."
"With Fawkes around, he can bring me back anytime."
That being said, Dumbledore knew that having Fawkes bring him along was a choice made out of necessity.
After observing Harry for some time, he clearly noticed that what Harry lacked most right now was confidence!
And the courage to fight Voldemort!
This confrontation with Voldemort is a great opportunity. If used well, it can greatly improve Harry's character and also earn him a lot of prestige.
But if you take action yourself, the situation is completely different.
Perhaps in the future, when Harry encounters difficulties, he will subconsciously seek help from himself or others.
Harry is getting old, and he has to walk his own path from now on.
If he wants my help in everything, how will he fight Voldemort in the future?
Unfortunately, he now has no other choice.
By taking action himself, he can at least ensure that Harry is not harmed.
It's better than losing your life!
...
Time passed quickly, and soon the day to return to school arrived.
Through his observations over the past few days, Argus noticed that Quirrell rarely appeared in front of others anymore.
He'd only seen him a few times, usually in restaurants.
And he could clearly see his weakness!
More importantly, the way the other person looked at him already carried a hint of greed!
The moment the holiday ended, a long-awaited system notification popped into his head.
[Congratulations, host, for controlling more than half of the transactions in Diagon Alley. You have achieved the achievement: The Rise of a Business Tycoon.]
[Achievement Points Reward: 100]
"I almost forgot I even had a system!"
Argus gave a wry smile.
His life during this period was incredibly fulfilling; he wished he could use every day as if it were 48 hours.
There's simply no time to think about system issues!
The returning group wasn't as excited as one might have imagined.
Christmas is over, and final exams will be coming soon.
This is a headache for most young wizards.
The Slytherin members returned to the common room and immediately spotted Argus reading a book.
The group, who had just been feeling down, immediately perked up and surrounded Argus, bombarding him with questions about the news in the Daily Prophet.
After briefly responding to a few people, Argus lost interest and recounted the whole story to Draco before preparing to go find Hagrid to inquire about the goods.
One Christmas had emptied his stock by more than half, and now he urgently needs to replenish his supplies.
"Hagrid, are you there?"
Argus knocked on the door of Hagrid's hut, and immediately a series of clattering sounds came from it.
It looks like something has been knocked over and broken.
Immediately following was Hagrid's slightly anxious voice.
"Wait a minute, I'll be right there to open the door!"
