A Name Returned, A Family Whole
The Tonks house was quiet when Nymphadora Tonks arrived home.
Not her usual loud, chaotic entrance.
She stood in the doorway for a moment, clutching two letters—one sealed in ancient Black magic, the other bearing the discreet but unmistakable crest of House Runcandel.
Her hands trembled slightly.
"Mum?" Dora called.
Andromeda Tonks looked up from the table. One glance at the seal—and her breath caught.
"That… that's a Black family letter," she whispered.
Dora nodded and handed it to her.
For a moment, Andromeda simply stared at the seal. Then she broke it.
She read.
And froze.
Her eyes blurred almost instantly.
"Ted," she said softly.
Ted Tonks was beside her in seconds, reading over her shoulder.
The words were simple. Formal. Powerful.
Andromeda Tonks is hereby reinstated as
Andromeda Black,
under the full protection and backing of the House of Black.
Andromeda's hands shook as the parchment slipped from her fingers.
She pressed it to her chest—and cried.
Ted wrapped his arms around her, smiling gently.
"Congratulations, love," he said quietly. "Looks like your family finally came to its senses."
Dora smiled, her eyes bright.
"They didn't," she said softly. "Keith did."
Andromeda laughed through her tears.
The Second Letter
"There's another," Dora said, holding out the second envelope.
Andromeda wiped her eyes and opened it carefully.
She read once.
Then again.
Then slowly sat down.
Ted leaned closer.
"What is it?"
Andromeda exhaled, stunned—but smiling.
"It says…" she paused, then looked up at Dora.
"Keith Argus Runcandel has formally declared Nymphadora Tonks, Bellatrix Black, and Narcissa Black as his fiancées and wives."
Dora's face turned pink instantly.
"M-Mum—!"
Andromeda laughed softly.
"I'm not surprised about you," she said warmly. "I've known for a long time."
She looked back at the letter, thoughtful.
"But Bellatrix… and Narcissa…" she murmured.
Memories surfaced.
Narcissa's cold marriage.
Lucius's betrayal.
Bellatrix's framing.
The lies. The cruelty.
Andromeda closed her eyes briefly.
"…I'm relieved," she said finally. "Relieved they're safe. Relieved they're loved."
She reached out and pulled Dora into a hug.
"You chose well," she said. "And I'm glad… all three of you found someone who treats you as equals."
Ted nodded approvingly.
"If Bellatrix is involved," he added dryly, "then heaven help anyone foolish enough to cross that man."
Dora laughed, hugging her parents tightly.
For the first time since her childhood—
The name Black didn't feel like a curse.
It felt like home.
