Chapter 96 - Chapter 90

The Price of Vengeance and the Weight of a Name

The main hall of Grimmauld Place was heavy with silence.

Keith sat calmly, fingers resting around his coffee cup, while the old magic of the House of Black watched from every wall.

He looked at Bellatrix first.

"Did you have your reunion?"

Bellatrix's expression softened—something rare and genuine.

"Yes," she said, beaming. "I did. Thank you."

Across from him, Narcissa Black sat straight-backed, composed—but her hands trembled slightly in her lap. Bellatrix moved to her side, resting a reassuring hand on her sister's.

Narcissa inhaled, then spoke.

"Lord Runcandel… thank you. For saving my sister. For bringing her home."

Keith nodded once. No dramatics. No false modesty.

Then Narcissa's eyes hardened.

"I want to make a deal with you."

Bellatrix glanced at her sharply but said nothing.

Narcissa continued, voice steady.

"I want your help to destroy House Malfoy, House Nott, House Flint, and House Carrow."

Keith's gaze sharpened.

"And what do I gain?" he asked evenly.

Narcissa swallowed.

"House Black acknowledges a debt of two million galleons to House Runcandel," she said. "I will repay it."

Keith leaned back slightly.

"You already owe that," he replied calmly. "That is not profit."

Narcissa clenched her fists, took a deep breath, and spoke the words she had clearly prepared for hours.

"I will give you fifty percent of the Black family assets, including Arcturus Black's personal wealth… and his seat on the Wizengamot."

She paused—then added quietly,

"And… myself."

The hall went still.

Keith shook his head.

"That is not sufficient."

Narcissa froze.

For a moment, she had no words. Her eyes dimmed—not in anger, but disappointment.

Bellatrix squeezed her hand gently.

Keith noticed.

And frowned.

The Ancestors Awaken

"Let us speak with the family first," Keith said. "Then we will discuss terms."

Narcissa and Bellatrix nodded.

Together, they entered the ancestral gallery.

Portraits stirred. Whispers rose.

Keith inclined his head respectfully.

"House Black."

"Lord Runcandel," Phineas Nigellus Black greeted with interest. "We meet again."

Keith explained the proposed deal.

Murmurs followed.

Cygnus Black's portrait spoke sharply.

"And what is the problem?"

Keith's eyes turned cold—but not cruel.

"The deal itself is acceptable," he said. "But using Narcissa Black as an object or possession is not."

The gallery fell silent.

Keith continued, voice firm.

"I do not take wives who are looked down upon.

Not by society.

Not by enemies.

Not even by their own families."

He turned slightly, ensuring Narcissa heard every word.

"I will not stain the Runcandel name by reducing a Black to a bargaining tool."

Narcissa's breath caught.

Keith raised his hand.

"House Black owes House Runcandel two million galleons," he said.

"And there exists an old marriage clause tied to that debt."

He looked around the gallery.

"I wish to renegotiate."

Every portrait leaned in.

Keith's Conditions

"First," Keith said clearly,

"I will take Bellatrix Black, Narcissa Black, and Nymphadora Tonks in marriage."

Gasps echoed.

Bellatrix stiffened—then smiled faintly.

Narcissa's eyes widened.

Keith continued before anyone could interrupt.

"Second," he said,

"Andromeda Tonks will be reinstated as Andromeda Black."

A ripple of shock passed through the gallery.

"So that," Keith added, "Nymphadora Tonks will never stand alone."

Phineas narrowed his eyes.

"Why go so far?" he asked. "If the girl bears your name, why does her maternal line matter?"

Narcissa and Bellatrix both nodded—curious.

Keith laughed softly.

"There is more than meets the eye, Phineas."

He met the portraits' gazes one by one.

"In the future, Dora may rise high… or face danger.

And when that day comes, the world must remember—

She has a family behind her.

Not just her husband's house…

But her mother's blood."

Silence.

Then—

Agreement.

One by one, the portraits nodded.

"Accepted."

"Wise."

"The House endures."

A Different Choice

Keith turned back to Narcissa.

Her eyes were shining.

"Instead of offering yourself as a slave," he said gently,

"Why not be my wife?"

His lips curved slightly.

"I would much rather spoil you."

Narcissa broke.

She stood abruptly and hugged him, burying her face against his chest, tears falling freely.

"Thank you," she cried. "Thank you…"

Bellatrix joined them, wrapping her arms around both of them.

"Thank you," Bellatrix said fiercely. "For choosing us."

After a moment, Keith looked back at the portraits.

"Until I say otherwise," he commanded calmly,

"this marriage remains confidential."

The House of Black obeyed.

And for the first time in decades—

The Black family stood united.
