A massive hot spring filled the chamber ahead—the water churning in violent rotations, thick clouds of steam rising from the surface, the current loud enough that they felt it before they heard it. At the center, elevated above the whirlpool's reach, sat a small stone platform. The exit.


"Final challenge!" The host's voice cut through the noise. "The whirlpool will try to separate you. Partners must hold each other and move together to the exit platform at the center. Lose your grip and you're both swept back to the start. Move as one unit. Time ends when both partners reach the center platform together. Begin!"


After the ice, the heat hit like something personal—almost painful at first, the contrast violent enough to sting.
