Wish's feet carried her toward the guest quarters, almost on autopilot. She needed to see them. Her family. Before tonight. Before whatever the Blood Moon would bring.
The modest house came into view—a small dwelling the deity had granted when she'd requested her family stay close after being chosen as an attendant.
Voices drifted through the wooden walls. Her mother's gentle laugh. Her father's deeper rumble. Vish's bright chatter.
Wish pushed open the door. "I'm home."
Three heads whipped toward her simultaneously.
"WISH!"
Vish launched herself across the room, nearly tackling her in an enthusiastic hug. "You haven't visited! We were starting to worry!"
Her mother stood from the small kitchen table, face breaking into a warm smile. "My darling girl." She hurried forward, hands already reaching. "Come, come in properly."
