Chapter 61 - Chapter 61 Willow branches on the moon

Asgard, a land said to be filled with magic, was not truly defined by the spells or gods that existed there.

What nearly crippled Asgard's so-called cosmic power was the endless internal strife within Odin's own family.

For all of Asgard's history, everything revolved around Thor, Loki, and eventually Hela. The conflicts within the royal family ultimately destroyed the entire kingdom.

A younger brother wanted to kill his older brother. The younger brother protected the older brother. An elder sister wanted to kill her father. The brothers joined forces and destroyed everything…

In short, Asgard was as chaotic as the world of Zeus in Greek mythology—just without the incest.

A bloody family drama.

Odin stripped Thor of his power and exiled him to Earth.

In Qin Xiao's eyes, this was no different from a wealthy father freezing his son's credit cards and dumping him in a remote mountain village so he could grow up and experience real life.

A Marvel-style "Transformation Program."

When Qin Xiao accepted this task, his role was essentially that of a reality-show director for Thor's personal growth arc.

The difference was that Qin Xiao wasn't soft-hearted, and Thor wasn't truly selfish or unreasonable—he was just a bit slow.

Before Qin Xiao even had enough strength to properly protect himself, he had already entered Odin's line of sight.

It was like a small startup being targeted by a world-class corporation.

Either you relied on their resources to grow stronger—or you were swallowed whole by a giant.

Qin Xiao was already well-versed in the conspiracies and power games of this world. After careful consideration, he chose to accept the risk.

Late at night, Qin Xiao sat quietly on a hillside, gazing at the stars.

At this point, there were only two things to consider:Follow the original plot—or come up with a better way to calm that idiot down.

"Hey. It's rare to see you this quiet. Are you okay? The stars look nice tonight, don't they?"

Black Widow appeared behind Qin Xiao without a sound, holding a bottle of alcohol and two glasses.

"If I had to choose," Qin Xiao said with a smile,"I'd rather stare at you than at the stars."

"You've got quite the sweet mouth," she laughed. "Have a drink—consider it your reward."

She sat down beside him, uncorked the bottle, poured two glasses, and handed one to Qin Xiao.

"To the stars above."

"Alright—to the stars."

Their glasses clinked softly.

"That guy's awake now," Black Widow said. "He didn't run or shout. He's just sitting there, spacing out. Is he really the legendary God of Thunder?"

"Absolutely. If he's fake, I guarantee a refund."

Qin Xiao glanced at Black Widow beside him. She was still wearing her timeless black bodysuit, but the seriousness in her expression had softened.

The area was unusually peaceful, filled with a warmth that felt different from anything before.

"You're about to ask me how I know all of this, aren't you?" Qin Xiao said with a smile.

"Oh?" She took another sip. "And if I asked, would you tell me the truth?"

"That depends," Qin Xiao replied evasively."Are you asking as the famous Black Widow of the intelligence division—or as my friend, Natasha?"

Instead of answering, Black Widow spoke quietly about her past.

"From as far back as I can remember, I was locked in a red house with a group of little girls. The only way to survive was to endure humiliation, brutal training… and kill each other."

"So I learned early on not to trust anyone. Over time, I realized everyone around me had ill intentions. They smiled at me—but hid knives behind their smiles."

"From the moment I met you, you've rarely been honest. You don't tell the truth very often," she continued."But I can see it in your eyes—you don't mean me any harm."

"So how you know all this doesn't matter to me. I know I can trust you—as a partner, or as a friend."

"My past is painful. I don't even want to talk about it myself, so I won't force you to reveal your secrets either."

"Tonight, I just want to sit here with you, look at the stars, and chat."

As she spoke, Black Widow rested her head against Qin Xiao's shoulder.

For the first half of her life, all she had known was assassination training—targets and enemies.

It wasn't until she met Hawkeye and joined S.H.I.E.L.D. that she finally felt she had companions she could trust.

But no one had ever been like Qin Xiao.

He started out as a target, then became a friend, a partner—and more importantly, a real man.

Someone who allowed her to let go of everything and face him instinctively, as a woman.

This feeling might be common for ordinary people, but for Black Widow, it was something rare and precious.

"You look skinny," she murmured,"but I didn't expect your shoulder to feel this nice."

"Do you like it?" Qin Xiao grinned."I don't mind lending it to you for a lifetime—just this side, though. You know, I'm too charming. People fall for me all the time, and I can't help it. A man who rejects beautiful women should at least leave them some hope, right?"

His shameless nonsense made Black Widow smile.

Qin Xiao talked endlessly—about everything and nothing, heaven and earth alike.

She simply leaned against him, listening quietly to his serious-sounding nonsense. The faint smile at the corner of her lips showed just how much she enjoyed the moment.

Moonlit willow branches.Women.Tall tales.Fairies…

They sat together for most of the night. There was none of the physical intimacy people might expect—

Yet on a spiritual level, they had grown much closer.

The feeling was wonderful.Comfortable.Peaceful.

Early the next morning, Qin Xiao got up full of energy.

He waited early for Jane Foster's mentor, Dr. Erik Selvig, to come and take Thor away.

In the movie, Thor fell from the sky and crashed into their car. Everyone else thought he was crazy.

But Jane Foster fell for the foolish Thor at first sight and chose to believe him.

If everything went according to plan, they should come and take Thor away today.

From morning until noon, no one showed up.

Instead, Qin Xiao received a video call from Tony Stark.

"Qin, I heard you ran into a weird hammer in Mexico. Was it fun? If it was, I might swing by too. Oh, and look at me—notice anything special?"

Tony deliberately pulled the camera back, revealing his upper body.

Qin Xiao stared for a long time before finally noticing that the glow inside Tony's arc reactor had turned into a blue triangle.
