"For God's sake, our plan was to sneak in and arrest these people!"
Black Widow helplessly smacked her palm against her forehead.
"I knew it. This is how they express their dissatisfaction with the operation. Activate the jamming device. I do not want tomorrow's headlines to read: Two Superheroes Rob Drug Cartels!"
Qin Xiao and Tony Stark were now among the most famous people in the world. Qin could at least cover his face and blend in, but Iron Man's armor was far too recognizable.
They didn't want to expose the team, nor their identities, so they had made preparations in advance.
Coulson's voice came through the earpiece.
"Let the two of them handle it. You and Hawkeye focus on sealing the gaps—don't let anyone escape. Our people in Mexico have reached the perimeter. The rest is up to them."
As expected, the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents did exactly what they were supposed to do.
There was no doubt that this force had been arranged by Nick Fury—a secret unit belonging to S.H.I.E.L.D.'s internal black-ops division.
Despite the drug cartel being well-equipped and numerous, they were utterly baffled by Iron Man descending from the sky.
He appeared out of nowhere in the middle of the night, clad in an armor impervious to bullets. Conventional weapons were completely useless against him.
These drug traffickers, whose strength rivaled that of a regular army, hadn't even had time to develop weapons capable of countering him.
The wall beside the main gate collapsed with a thunderous crash.
A lean figure burst in like a feral beast.
It smashed straight through a ten-meter-high wall, then brutally demolished several nearby watchtowers with nothing but its body.
Every bullet that struck him bounced off harmlessly. He was nothing short of a humanoid tank.
Tremendous power, wrapped in thick armor.
The moment Qin Xiao entered the battlefield, Tony—still airborne—wordlessly switched to cruise mode.
They circled the estate continuously, not only eliminating drug traffickers hiding in corners, but also precisely locating stockpiles of weapons and narcotics.
Two small missiles were delivered to their targets, instantly igniting several tons of drugs and lighting up the night sky with dazzling fireworks.
Flames raged everywhere. The massive estate was reduced to half a ruin in moments.
Iron Man in his combat armor, Qin Xiao, and a mini version of the Hulk—against completely unprepared drug traffickers—this was nothing less than a dimensionality-reduction strike.
In short, they would talk once Black Widow and Hawkeye arrived.
This was the scene unfolding before my eyes.
"Hiss—"
The two of them sucked in a sharp breath.
"Absolutely zero technical finesse!"
Hawkeye curled his lip in disdain, though the envy in his eyes was impossible to hide from Black Widow beside him.
What hot-blooded man wouldn't love a fight like this?
"It seems we seriously underestimated Qin's combat capability," Black Widow murmured. "He's practically a scaled-down Hulk."
Then she spoke loudly into her headset.
"Stop focusing on the fighting. Stark has already destroyed the armory. Leave the outside to us. Don't forget our objective—don't let anyone escape through the player tunnel."
"Don't worry, he won't get away."
Tony Stark's confident voice came through the earpiece.
"Qin, check Celesto's room and see if he's still there! JARVIS, scan the underground passages of this estate!"
No matter how well-hidden the secret tunnels were, they couldn't escape Tony's technology.
Qin Xiao reacted as if he'd just learned that Celesto's whereabouts were unknown.
Tony's faceplate display already showed a detailed map of the underground passages below.
"Sir, there are at least a dozen secret tunnels beneath the estate. Measures should be taken to block thermal detection," JARVIS reported, his voice transmitted to everyone's earpiece.
More than ten tunnels? That was excessive.
"Think about it, JARVIS," Tony said without hesitation.
"Yes, sir."
JARVIS immediately rescanned the underground network. Less than thirty seconds later, the results were in.
On Tony's display, one tunnel was highlighted in red.
"There is magnetic interference along this route, possibly caused by heavy metal casting. If I were a drug lord, I would choose this path. Safety first, sir."
(Does thick metal casting really create magnetic interference? Honestly, I'm not entirely sure—let's just assume it does and gloss over the details, haha.)
"Good work, JARVIS!"
Tony shot straight out of the estate. Armor plates on his shoulder opened, and a single armor-piercing round was launched steadily toward the ground.
He was clearly prepared—upon impact, the micro-missile transformed into a drill-like device.
It bored aggressively into the earth.
After drilling four to five meters deep, barely carving a small pit into the steel beneath, it detonated.
Huge amounts of soil were blasted into the air.
I had no idea how thick the steel plating lining the tunnel was. Tony's specially designed explosive only managed to punch through a layer a few dozen centimeters thick.
"Qin, I didn't bring many missiles. If the steel is thicker than a meter, the bedrock underneath won't hold. Where's that weapon of yours that can cut through steel?"
"Coming!"
Hearing this, Qin Xiao leapt several times and landed beside the crater Tony had blasted open.
After dropping down, he stopped joking around and directly drew his tang dao along the torn steel plate.
A shrill screech of metal-on-metal rang out.
The thick steel plate slammed toward Qin Xiao and the blade with tremendous force—but the blade sliced through iron like mud, carving out a skylight the size of a brick amid teeth-grinding friction.
Below lay a massive tunnel, over two meters high and nearly three meters wide.
"These drug lords are really filthy rich," Qin Xiao muttered, then sprinted into the tunnel leading away from the estate.
I didn't know whether it was because there were simply too many underground passages, or because this route avoided sewer systems and other infrastructure.
The tunnel wasn't straight. After running more than ten meters, Qin Xiao hit a corner.
Fearless of any ambush, he charged straight through.
Ratatatatat!
I hadn't even rounded the corner before chaos erupted.
The sound of a Gatling gun's rotating barrels and deafening gunfire echoed through the passage.
The terrifying rate of fire filled the entire tunnel with bullets almost instantly.
"Fuck!"
Qin Xiao cursed inwardly and instinctively raised his hands to protect his head.
Even if he was considered bulletproof now, taking a barrage of rounds to the face was not exactly pleasant.
Clanging metal and sparks erupted as bullets ricocheted wildly between Qin Xiao's body and the steel-lined tunnel walls.
"Bastard—I'm going to shove that machine gun up your ass."
The barrage finally stopped.
Qin Xiao lowered his hands and growled viciously.
The moment he opened his eyes, he saw a metallic arm whipping toward him at full speed.
