Chapter 15 - The Altar

Being right is something every creature values deeply. After all, being right is equal to proving someone else is wrong. And that someone has to admit their mistake and admits being wrong.

Rea is right. Indeed the rest of the journey is a torture. Right now she deeply regrets being right.

"Holy Mother Mew." She swears as she is racked by retching. "Is it still a long way away?"

The old man, owner of the fishing cutter, looks at her with pity. Seasickness is a common ailment, some people put up with it better and some not.

Rea is a perfect representation of the second group.

"Almost in place." The man answers.

It doesn't sound really comforting. Especially due to the fact they're 'almost in place' for the last fifteen minutes.

But what makes Rea even more irritated that's the fact what it really means. Pity. The man sees her miserable state and by that try to make Rea hopeful this torture would end soon.

Her grip tightens on the retching. There's multiple things Rea needs right now. Need to convince Mew to join this ridiculous union, as well as every legendary. Need to stop Giovanni once for all. And most importantly - need to set foot in stable ground.

But she doesn't need pity.

"We're almost there." She finally hears.

And this time it wasn't a lie. When Rea moves her head up she notices the dark silhouette which becomes more visible the more they get closer.

As the fishing cutter moor in the sand, Rea crawls out of it and lies on the coast. Not even notice that the weaves soak her boots. Besides, they're already suitable only for throwing into trash bins.

"Never again." She mutters as the fishing cutter swims away, quite sure she wouldn't miss it.

Most likely if she knew before how horrible it'll be, Rea would retreat and decide to fly on her own, using levitation. And of course it's not wrong since she is able to make herself invisible.

Well it wouldn't be wrong if Rea's situation were a little less complicated.

"Team Rocket most likely know Mewtwo isn't dead and manage to escape from Caledon City. And if so, they might keep an eye on every unusual event just in case that's Mewtwo."

Supporting herself on hands, Rea sits down and looks at the vast sea. Her nostrils could feel the unusual smell of the salted water.

"And there are authorities who lost their most important witness who knows a lot about Team Rocket." Rea adds, still talking to herself. "And they would be looking too, but this time for a human."

It's bizarre itself that the authorities let her do this mission about uniting every Legendary Pokémon. Yet she quickly dismisses that thought. Most likely when things get wrong, that person who will supervise her will flee. Along with Rea.

Finally she stands up. Look around and decide to walk into the one possible direction. A stoned path that leads from the coast to the huge jungle.

With a sigh Rea starts to walk. Still pondering her current situation.

Actually those two sides aren't a problem. Just a bunch of unprepared humans.

"Giovanni." Rea mutters to herself.

A wild card in this whole game.

He could witness her changing form. As well as he couldn't. He could inform Team Rocket about this but don't have to. As well he might reveal this to some police higher-ups or authorities, to let everyone unite against a common enemy.

"From something simple I manage to make a mess." Rea snorts and kicks some stone on her way.

The stone rolls to some bushes nearby and this makes Rea realize it's the only sound around. She stands still. Yet nothing moves. The jungle stays quiet. The sun couldn't go through the dense leaves so the surroundings remain dark. No sound could be heard.

In every normal circumstances this would mean she's followed. Yet Rea couldn't feel anything as it is scared way more than the possibility someone may follow her.

But the more she moves the more Rea notices this jungle isn't dead. Some bug Pokémon fly and some flying ones chirp.

"It seems I'm the only danger around." She sigh.

But in fact the movement around her starts. As if assessing Rea as a natural part of life here. And Rea herself also starts to see the surroundings as… nice. Of course the lack of light is irritating but the pros definitely suppress the cons.

Quiet. There's no noisy humans here. And no noisy Pokémon. Most likely just those who want to express thanks to Mew for some miracles the creature definitely wasn't part of. But hey, they could be ignored. As well as those to whom Mew really did something. And no one would care.

A chuckle escapes from Rea's mouth.

"It seems the creature is also calculated to some point." Rea laugh.

But then another thought came. A more serious one.

"Maybe we're not so different." She gaze down to her feet,

Moving forward, one step after another, Rea realizes that all her life she calls humans those ambitious ones, calculated, ruthless. But maybe… just maybe those are not only human traits.

Maybe she partly inherits those from Mew.

But there's one thing Rea surely didn't inherit.

"That's it?" She tilts her head. "Seriously?"

She has no idea what to expect at the end of the stone path. Maybe some temple dedicated to Mew. Or a statue carefully carved in stone by some talented human.

Yet at the end of the road there's an altar. Not an imposing one. Simple ornaments carved in wood make it more similar to birdhouse. The only thing that may say it's an altar, is a small hand-made figurine of Mew, which seems more to be a masterpiece of some youngster than of a deliberated artist.

"I'm disappointed." Rea says. "But not surprised at all."

And also quite sure, that however, there aren't any similarities between her and Mew.
