Chapter 23 - Chapter 21 — What Terrifies Heroes

After Midoriya escaped from Shinso, he held his mouth shut and didn't respond again. With his superior strength, Shinso was nothing and was thrown out by Izuku.

'That's a good quirk. If he trained his body, he would be exceptional.'

Next up was Todoroki and Sero. It was just one thing—a giant iceberg was formed.

'He's pissed. Let me guess. Daddy dearest?'

Sam's hatred for Endeavor was great. Anyone who treats women like breeding fodder deserves no respect.

After that was Ibara vs. Denki. Nothing too much. Her quirk was impressive, and she seemed to be a decent person.

The next one was Iida vs. Mei.

'This one should be interesting. How will the support girl show the world that quirks ain't shit compared to smarts?'

What followed was nothing but disappointment. She gave Iida her gear to help him run easier and used all her equipment to promote her gear.

'It would have been nice to see her actually use her crap in a fight.'

Sam sighs. She steps out once she finishes, leaving behind a distraught Iida.

'Aside from the fact this was a poor venue to do an infomercial, her stuff was good. Maybe I'll work with her and see if she can make something good… wait, why would I care? I don't plan to become a hero.'

Sam grabs his head as his thoughts are going wild today.

Mina vs. Aoyama. Predictable. Stomach ache for Aoyama. Mina's a dancer and athletic—easy victory.

Momo vs. Tokoyami. One that Sam was interested in.

'If she gets a grip on herself and stops overanalyzing things, she can win. As long as she makes a flashbang or some lamps, it's easy pickings.'

But alas, she was overthinking and was pushed out.

'She would be superior if she just believed in herself more, rather than trying to confirm every action before taking them.'

Kirishima vs. Tetsutetsu.

"Oh, this is going to be a long, long match. What are the odds these two have similar quirks?"

"You're really analytical, aren't you, Sam?" Mina asks.

Now everyone is looking at him. Even Momo and Tokoyami, who returned from their fight.

"Well, when you don't have a quirk, you have to train your brain and body past the limits in order to catch up. Honestly, quirks all have a weakness. Some are easier to find than others. You just have to find it and take advantage of it."

They all look at Sam, shocked.

"…That's so cool!" Toru chirps.

"Who do you think has the strongest quirk among first years?" Midoriya asks, with his notebook out.

Sam thinks.

"Well… I think most of the quirks among the first years are great, but two quirks in particular can truly terrify me."

This shocks them.

"First one is yours, Momo."

She squeaks after being pointed at.

"How so?"

Sam just deadpans.

"Are you serious? You can make anything. That includes plutonium or uranium. Any nuclear bomb could be made if you know how they work. A less destructive way is if you endlessly print money. That will make the yen as valuable as dirt. And with yen worth nothing, nobody gets food because it's too damn expensive. You could cripple economies if you wanted."

Sam casually says this while watching Kirishima and Tetsutetsu fight.

"What about the second?" Midoriya asks, still wanting more info, begging with puppy-dog eyes.

"The second is not as catastrophic as Momo's, but it's still an unbelievably terrifying quirk. That would be 1-B's Kinoko Komori."

Class 1-B is shocked. They expected him to do nothing but praise his own class, but he actually considered one of theirs terrifying.

The little mushroom girl pipes in.

"U-um, what do you mean?"

"What I mean is that you can create fungus spores from your skin. Fungus is terrifying. Just imagine—you're walking down the street one day, and then all of a sudden you can't breathe because you inhaled some spores that were undetectable. They enter the lungs and grow. Your lungs fail to function from the fungi, and then you just die. Your mushrooms also disappear. Meaning, no evidence. Case shut. No one would ever even know. Only if you wore a gas mask all the time would you be safe—and even that might not be perfect."

Class 1-A and 1-B look at Momo and Kinoko in silent terror.

"…That's metal," Jiro says.

"You asked. I delivered."

Finally, the match ends with a tie because it won't end.

Next up is one Sam is excited for.

Uraraka vs. Bakugo.
