Chapter 4 - THE DEMON KING WHO WAITED FOR HER

CHAPTER FOUR

THE DEMON KING WHO WAITED FOR HER

by C.G

Linah was confused. Mako's presence felt exactly like the mysterious man in her dreams. Could it be that the man in her dreams was watching her? Was he jealous because she was getting too close to her boss?

Fear struck her heart. What if my boss gets injured by that spiritual man?

From that moment, Linah lived in fear. Mako noticed the confusion and fear on her face and blamed himself. He decided to distance himself and let time reveal everything, though deep in his heart, he longed to be close to her.

As night drew closer, Linah went to her room to sleep. To her surprise, she had not seen her boss since morning. Her heart felt heavy — she missed him. But she noticed something strange: whenever her boss was not around, she could not feel the presence of the mysterious man either.

She concluded that the mysterious man must be jealous and watching her because of her boss. That thought made her laugh softly, easing her worries.

That night, Linah slept until 3 a.m. without dreaming of the mysterious man. When she woke up, she felt empty inside, as if a part of her had been taken away.

Two weeks passed. Linah neither saw the mysterious man nor felt his presence. At the same time, her boss did not return home. Linah grew worried and longed deeply for the man in her dreams. She missed his touch and his presence. She cursed the day she kissed her boss, believing that was why the mysterious man had abandoned her.

At first, she worried about her boss's long absence, but later she felt relieved, thinking his absence would prevent the jealousy of her mysterious man. Linah tried to focus on her studies, but another thought crossed her mind — maybe I should try dating someone in real life. Perhaps it would help her forget the man in her dreams.

A month later, Aunt Rose returned from the village and resumed her duties. One afternoon, Linah walked toward the small township in Kuraone village. As she passed the palace of King Kuraone, someone greeted her.

She turned and met the eyes of a handsome man who carried himself as if he owned the world. He ordered his driver to open the car door.

"Hello, beautiful. Please allow me to give you a ride. You are safe with me," he said confidently. "My name is Cally, the only heir to the throne of the Kuraone Kingdom."

Linah felt nauseous. She wanted to refuse, but she remembered her decision to try dating. Reluctantly, she entered the car.

On the way, Prince Cally never gave her a chance to speak. He praised himself endlessly and boasted about his wealth. Linah felt frustrated by his arrogance, but she hid it. She wanted to experience love in real life, even if it felt forced.

Prince Cally later confessed his feelings. Linah asked for a week to think about it. Though she didn't love him, she convinced herself that feelings could be cultivated.

A week later, Prince Cally called and asked to meet her near the palace. With Aunt Rose away at the market, Linah left the mansion unnoticed.

When she arrived, she froze. Prince Cally was badly injured, his body wrapped in bandages, seated in a wheelchair.

Panicked, Linah asked what had happened. His response shocked her.

"Stay away from me. I never want to see you again."

Though Linah never loved him, the rejection cut deeply. It reminded her of the mysterious man who vanished from her dreams and the boss who had disappeared. What is wrong with me? she wondered. Why am I never chosen?

Heartbroken, she returned to the mansion. As she entered, a familiar deep voice greeted her.

"You're back. Where have you been?"

She looked up and saw Mako. Joy filled her heart instantly. But his tone was cold. He warned her never to leave the mansion alone again unless accompanied by the driver. Without waiting for her response, he walked away, leaving her confused and hurt.

That night, Linah cried herself to sleep.

The mysterious man visited her dream again — but this time, he did not touch her. He warned her never to betray his love. His jealousy was terrifying.

"If you repeat this mistake," he said coldly, "I will kill anyone who comes near you."

Before she could explain, he vanished.

Fear took over Linah's life. She began avoiding men completely. Meanwhile, Mako watched her from a distance, torn between anger and longing.

One day, he saw Linah inside Prince Cally's car. Rage consumed him. Prince Cally was his greatest enemy. Jealousy burned inside Mako. He sent men to teach Cally a lesson and warn him to stay away from Linah, hiding his identity to protect her.

At the office, Linah brought lunch for Mako. He ordered his assistant to send her away. Feeling pity, John took the food instead. But when the aroma filled the office, Mako snatched the food and devoured it like a hungry lion.

When John joked about marrying Linah one day, Mako grabbed his collar and warned him never to go near her again.

Back at the mansion, Aunt Rose was baking a cake. She told Linah that their boss was a good man who avoided women, but ever since Linah arrived, he had changed. Aunt Rose secretly hoped to bring them together.

Late that night, Linah heard a voice singing — the voice of her mysterious man. This time, she was not dreaming. A dark shadow approached her and placed a bracelet in her hand.

"Happy birthday, my Linah."

He cupped her cheeks as if to kiss her, then suddenly pushed her away and vanished.

Linah cried out in pain and confusion. When Aunt Rose knocked, Linah switched on the lights — and froze.

She was holding the diamond bracelet.

Her heart pounded violently. This was not a dream.

Shaking, she hid the bracelet under her pillow just as Aunt Rose and the butler entered with a cake and gifts. Linah broke down in tears.

From a distance, Mako watched her cry, his heart aching. As he turned away, something made him stop.

At Linah's door stood a dark shadow — the shadow of a woman, holding a candle and singing in ancient verses.

Mako's blood ran cold.

He understood the song.

It was not a blessing.

It was a warning.

The woman blew out the candle and vanished.

That night, Mako did not sleep. He lay beside Linah, guarding her. She felt the familiar presence and believed she was dreaming.

But Mako knew the truth.

The song was not meant for mortals.

Danger had awakened.

And the beginning of bloodshed had arrived.
