Chapter 38 - The Gathering Storm.

Chapter Thirty-Seven: The Gathering Storm

The sky over Nigeria darkened long before evening came. Thick clouds rolled across the horizon, swallowing the sun and casting a heavy shadow over cities, villages, and forests alike. It was not just weather. Across the spiritual realm, forces were shifting, aligning, and preparing for something far greater than scattered attacks.

Stephen Dagunduro felt it the moment he stepped out of the church compound that morning. The air felt heavier, thicker, almost difficult to breathe. His spirit trembled with a warning he could not fully explain.

Favour walked beside him, clutching her Bible tightly. Since the exposure of Aduke, she had grown stronger in prayer, but her eyes carried a new awareness. She understood now that the war was not just against obvious evil, but against deception hidden behind familiar faces.

"Something has changed," she whispered.

Stephen nodded slowly. "KOA has moved beyond local attacks. I can feel their influence spreading… like smoke covering the land."

KOA's Declaration

Deep within the unseen realm, Baba Dagunduro stood at the center of a massive spiritual gathering. The elders of KOA formed a circle around him, their voices rising in dark harmony. Symbols of ancient covenants burned faintly on the ground beneath them, pulsing with forbidden power.

"The boy grows stronger," one elder said cautiously.

Baba Dagunduro's eyes burned with cold determination. "He is no longer just my son. He is now the greatest threat to everything we have built."

Ayanmo stepped forward, his voice calm but sinister. "Then we stop him before he becomes unstoppable. The scattered attacks have only sharpened him. It is time for something greater… something that will shake his faith and break his spirit."

Baba Dagunduro raised his hands slowly.

"Send the signal," he commanded.

Instantly, spiritual vibrations rippled across Nigeria. KOA's initiates in different states paused simultaneously, feeling the summons. Pastors, believers, and spiritual warriors across the land began experiencing sudden heaviness, nightmares, and unexplained fear.

The war was no longer hidden.

KOA had declared open confrontation.

The Nationwide Disturbance

Reports began flooding into Stephen within hours. Churches across multiple states were experiencing strange disruptions. Prayer meetings ended abruptly due to overwhelming fear. Ministers reported spiritual visions of shadowed armies marching across cities.

Stephen sat in the prayer room surrounded by his inner circle: Favour, Miriam, Joshua, and several newly trained leaders.

"This is bigger than anything we have faced," Joshua said, his voice tense.

Stephen nodded. "KOA has activated its network nationwide. They are not just targeting leaders anymore. They are targeting the entire body of believers."

Miriam swallowed hard. "Then how do we fight something that widespread?"

Stephen remained silent for a moment, listening carefully to the stirring inside his spirit.

"We don't fight everywhere at once," he said finally. "We anchor ourselves where God places us. When light stands firm in one place, it spreads naturally. Panic is KOA's weapon. Faith must be ours."

Favour's Vision

That night, during deep prayer, Favour collapsed suddenly. Her body trembled as a vision overtook her mind.

She stood on a high mountain overlooking Nigeria. The land below appeared covered in thin dark mist. As she watched, she saw small lights glowing across the country — churches, prayer groups, believers worshipping in homes. But shadowy figures moved among the lights, trying to extinguish them one by one.

Then she saw a towering dark throne rising above the mist. Upon it sat Baba Dagunduro, surrounded by swirling shadows shaped like serpents and chains. His eyes scanned the glowing lights, stopping briefly on one brighter flame.

Stephen.

Favour gasped as the vision shifted. She saw chains stretching from the throne toward Stephen, reaching slowly but persistently.

She woke up screaming.

The Warning Revealed

Stephen rushed to her side as she struggled to catch her breath.

"They're gathering," she whispered. "KOA is preparing something massive… and your father… he is leading it personally."

Stephen closed his eyes slowly. Hearing confirmation of his father's involvement pierced deeper than any spiritual attack.

"I always knew this day would come," he said quietly. "But knowing does not make it easier."

Favour gripped his hand tightly. "You are not fighting your father. You are fighting the darkness controlling him."

Stephen nodded, though his chest felt heavy with conflicting emotions.

The First Direct Challenge

Later that night, Stephen sat alone in the church hall. Candles flickered gently around him as he prayed. The silence felt unnatural, as if the air itself was waiting.

Suddenly, the temperature dropped sharply.

Stephen opened his eyes as shadows gathered at the far end of the hall. Slowly, they formed into a towering figure — not fully solid, but unmistakably recognizable.

Baba Dagunduro.

"You have grown stronger than I expected," the shadowed figure said calmly.

Stephen stood slowly, his heart pounding but his voice steady. "Father… you don't have to continue this path."

The figure laughed softly, echoing across the hall.

"I have already chosen my path. You are the one who abandoned your inheritance."

Stephen shook his head. "I did not abandon it. I chose life over destruction."

Baba Dagunduro's voice hardened. "You chose weakness. KOA offers power. Control. Dominion. You still have time to return."

Stephen stepped forward, his eyes blazing with conviction. "I will never return to darkness. Not for power. Not for fear. Not even for family."

For a brief moment, silence filled the hall.

Then Baba Dagunduro's shadow darkened.

"Then you will watch everything you love crumble," he said coldly before dissolving into darkness.

The Burden of Destiny

Stephen collapsed to his knees after the vision faded. The encounter shook him deeply, not because of fear, but because it confirmed something he had always dreaded.

The final confrontation would not just be against KOA.

It would be against his own father.

Favour entered quietly, sensing the spiritual disturbance.

"He came, didn't he?" she asked softly.

Stephen nodded.

"And he will come again," he said. "Not just spiritually. Physically. KOA is preparing to strike directly at us."

Favour knelt beside him. "Then we prepare also."

Strengthening the Army of Light

Over the next several days, Stephen intensified training among his leaders. Prayer sessions became longer. Fasting became more frequent. Spiritual mentorship expanded rapidly as believers sought guidance.

Stephen taught them about spiritual authority, unity, and endurance.

"The enemy thrives when we fight alone," he told them. "But when believers stand together, darkness loses its power."

Joshua spoke boldly during one gathering. "Even if KOA sends everything against us, we will not bow."

The room erupted in agreement.

Stephen smiled faintly, feeling hope rise within him. KOA's greatest weapon was fear. And fear was slowly losing its hold over the faithful.

The Rising Storm

Despite their preparation, Stephen knew something catastrophic was approaching. His dreams became filled with visions of battlefields stretching across the spiritual realm — armies of light clashing with armies of darkness.

One night, he stood outside the church, staring at the lightning tearing across the sky. Each flash illuminated the town briefly before darkness swallowed it again.

Favour joined him silently.

"Storms reveal strength," she said quietly.

Stephen nodded. "And storms also reveal weaknesses. KOA is about to test both."

Thunder roared loudly overhead, shaking the ground beneath them. Stephen felt a surge of spiritual energy ripple through the atmosphere, sending chills down his spine.

"They are gathering," he whispered.

Favour tightened her grip on her Bible. "Then we stand."

A Nation on Edge

Across Nigeria, spiritual tension increased. Believers experienced strange dreams. Pastors felt sudden urgency to pray. Some churches reported miraculous healings, while others reported sudden attacks.

The land itself seemed caught between two unseen forces pulling in opposite directions.

Stephen realized that the war was no longer about one man, one church, or one ministry.

It was about the spiritual direction of an entire nation.

The Silent Promise

That night, Stephen knelt alone at the altar, exhaustion weighing heavily on his body. Yet his spirit burned brighter than ever.

"Lord," he whispered, "if this war must come, prepare me. Strengthen those standing with me. And if I must face my father… give me the courage to stand for Your truth."

A gentle peace settled over him, quiet but powerful.

Stephen rose slowly, determination filling his chest.

KOA had declared open war.

And Stephen Dagunduro was ready to stand at the front lines.

"The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?"
