| A Friday afternoon.
*Ding, ding.
"Please, I hope I can make this go by quick and painless... " Bernadetta thought, fidgetily.
*Creak.
🎼"My daugh-ter! It's been ages since we've last spoke!" The eloquent man said.
Irritated, she replied, "Dad.. I only started college two weeks ago."
"eha! But you forget, that's ages -in father time. ehaEhe-eheEhaehe!" He joked, as he flailed around from laughter.
| That man was Leman Nicolette Lyn. My dad who tries to be my "cool, funny dad", but embarrassed me all the time growing up. He still does...
*Sniff, snifff!
As she walked in, she asked, "I know this smell. Is mom cooking dinner like usual?"
*Step, step, step!!!
"MY `Detta---- HAS ComeBackTo me!" The mom shouted, as she ran to pushingly hug her.
Awkwardly, Bernadetta said, "Agh_ahAha... Hi, mom. *Eng* Could you let me go, please?"
"Oh, dear me!" The mom exclaimed, as she clasped her hands. "-Oh!, I must express my sorries. How could I forget my manners... *Groans*"
| That was my mom, Hartmann Nicolette Lyn. Half of the time, you never know if she will behave like my actual mom, or as the middle schooler she has always looked like.
Composed, Bernadetta asked, "Could you move out of the way, please?"
*Slide, slide.
She elaborated, "Honestly, after I get my keychain collection, I do not have the time to stay."
(...)
*Crek.. Creaaak.
Elated, she whispered, "Good. It looks like they did not move anything. *Looks around* We labeled these boxes of mine, righttt?
[She read]"Find the misplaced animal puz-? No. Where's Shirley? Not that. Wheeere's Wally? Still not them."
*Knock, knock.
Stressed, Hartmann asked, "Are you really sure, you could not honestly stay for family dinner time?"
"Sorry, but I have others things to do." She expressed, as she stood up. "Okay, I now have found my keychain collection!"
Leman yelled from the halls, "My dear Hartmann, --aren't you forgetting your kitchen responsibilities again???"
Hartmann shrieked, "Oho!! Dinner!!!"
*Frantic running!
*Smoking! Sizzling.
| After she taste tested it...
Hartmann squealed, "-oH, goodie! My macaroni salad IS still safe. Could we please just, ForgetAboutThis all??? *Cute eyes."
With a confident head pat, Leman replied, "Why, of course. Just remember to save a portion for this ole` man."
Pleased, she said, "Very well. Mhm."
Listless, Bernadetta said, "Now that I think about it, dad is in his work get-up. Are you working at the bar today?"
Tilting his hat off, he said, "Your old man's indeed working today. *Walks* See you soon, my daughter. I hope you'll enjoy the heck out of your college days."
*Door opened, and closed.
(. . . . .)
~*Awkward silence.~
Hartmann asked, while arranging dinner, "Detta? I would have thought you would be outthedoor by now. If memory strikes me... do you not have busywork tobe done?"
"iIi-do... " She remarked, listlessly.
*Plop.
"Okay. I can make some time for dinner, if that is alright." Bernadetta exclaimed, with an awkward smile.
"Really, you will?!" She asked with awe, as she clasped her daughter's hands.
| End.
