The next morning, just as the sun rose, Fang Yang and Gu Yue appeared punctually on the training field for class.
"Ohhh~ Look who's here!" Xie Xie crossed his arms, a sly grin spreading across his face as he deliberately drawled, "Our very own Fang Yang and Gu Yue! Had a good date? Why not take a few more days off to enjoy yourselves?"
Gu Yue shot him a cold glance—her dark eyes flashing with dangerous intent.
"Xie Xie… would you like to spar with me?"
Xie Xie instantly shivered, scrambling backward with both hands raised. "No, no, no! Just a joke! Purely a joke!"
He stole a wary glance at Fang Yang standing beside Gu Yue and muttered inwardly:
"Even if I could beat Gu Yue… this overprotective guy would never let me live it down…"
"Alright, quiet down—Teacher Wu's here!" Tang Wulin suddenly whispered urgently.
His quiet warning was enough.
The entire Class Five snapped to attention, hastily forming ranks—all traces of playfulness gone.
In the distance, a tall figure in blue approached with calm, measured steps.
Wu Zhangkong's signature ice-blue long hair fluttered in the breeze, his expression as unreadable as ever.
He stopped before them, eyes sweeping over the class. His voice was crisp, cold, and carried absolute authority:
"Today's training plan has changed. Everyone else continues physical conditioning. And if I return to find anyone slacking off…"
He didn't finish the sentence—but the unspoken threat hung heavy in the air.
"Fang Yang! Gu Yue! Tang Wulin! Xie Xie—step forward!"
The four exchanged puzzled glances—but quickly obeyed.
The remaining students immediately began running laps—not a single one dared slack off.
They'd all experienced Teacher Wu's punishments firsthand.
Wu Zhangkong led the quartet across campus to a tall, imposing building.
After passing through strict security verification, they took an elevator to the second floor.
The corridor was so silent you could hear a pin drop. Soul-guided lamps embedded in the walls cast a soft, steady glow.
"Teacher Wu… why are we here?" Tang Wulin couldn't help but whisper.
"To test your spiritual power," Wu Zhangkong replied without turning—his tone as cool as ever.
They entered a 50-square-meter testing chamber.
Every wall was lined with silver metal plates, densely inscribed with soul-guided runes that pulsed with a faint purple luminescence.
At the room's center stood several sleek, futuristic-looking machines—complex, precise, with blinking indicator lights.
Just by appearance, these instruments were clearly worth a fortune.
All four had taken spiritual power tests before—they recognized the equipment instantly.
"Testing order: Xie Xie first." Wu Zhangkong's gaze swept over them.
Xie Xie sat nervously in the testing chair.
At Wu Zhangkong's press of a button, a silver helmet descended, fully enclosing his head.
On the adjacent screen, a white column began rising:
"10… 15… 20…"
It finally stabilized at 29.
"Not bad," Wu Zhangkong said, offering rare praise. "Xie Xie, aim to break 30 before the Promotion Tournament—reach mid-stage Spirit Origin Realm."
"Yes, Teacher Wu!" Xie Xie exhaled in relief and stepped aside.
Next was Tang Wulin. A flicker of anticipation crossed Wu Zhangkong's eyes.
Tang Wulin sat down. The helmet sealed over his head.
The numbers on the screen surged rapidly:
"15… 30… 60…"
And finally settled at 80.
His spiritual power was significantly higher than Xie Xie's—already at the late-stage Spirit Origin Realm, just shy of the Spirit Connection Realm.
"Excellent," Wu Zhangkong said, a rare note of approval in his voice.
"Not bad… truly worthy of my recognition," he thought inwardly.
"Fang Yang—you're next," Wu Zhangkong said, turning.
"Yes, Teacher Wu."
Fang Yang sat with calm composure.
The helmet lowered.
The screen numbers skyrocketed:
"101… 360… 480…"
And shattered the 500-mark—solidly entering the Spirit Sea Realm!
"What?! Spirit Sea Realm?!"
Xie Xie's jaw dropped. He stared at Fang Yang like he was looking at a monster.
"Fang Yang, you absolute freak…"
Tang Wulin was equally stunned. "No wonder… he dared fuse a black ten-thousand-year soul ring…"
Gu Yue's eyes also widened slightly.
"As the Golden Dragon King… his spiritual power is this overwhelming too…"
Wu Zhangkong's face remained impassive—but inside, his mind recoiled in shock.
This confirmed his suspicion: only Spirit Sea-level spiritual power could safely fuse a ten-thousand-year soul spirit.
Gazing at this prodigious student, a plan began to form:
"A genius like this must be guided into the Tang Sect… or Shrek Academy."
"Gu Yue—last," Wu Zhangkong said, pulling himself together.
Gu Yue sat gracefully.
The helmet descended.
The screen numbers climbed swiftly:
"101… 400… 480…"
And also reached the Spirit Sea Realm.
Tang Wulin and Xie Xie were utterly dumbfounded.
Fang Yang, seeing Gu Yue's result, couldn't suppress a proud smile.
"My wife? Of course she's amazing," he thought fondly.
(Though he knew full well—for the Silver Dragon King, this level of spiritual power was effortless, requiring zero strain.)
"Honestly… I just wanna live off my Silver Dragon Queen. No more effort needed!"
This time, Wu Zhangkong couldn't hide his astonishment.
He'd known Gu Yue's elemental mastery implied strong spiritual power—but matching Fang Yang?
A thought flashed through his mind:
"Are all elemental-type martial souls this absurdly overpowered?!"
"Very good," Wu Zhangkong said, taking a rare deep breath, satisfaction glinting in his eyes.
"Your results exceeded my expectations."
His gaze swept over the four—lingering longest on Fang Yang and Gu Yue.
"Next, we begin special preparation for the Promotion Tournament," he announced, voice still icy.
Fang Yang and Gu Yue exchanged a glance—their eyes meeting, no words needed. They understood each other completely.
This telepathic connection baffled Tang Wulin and Xie Xie.
"No way…" Xie Xie rubbed his eyes exaggeratedly, whispering to Tang Wulin, "Are they even trying to hide it anymore?!"
Tang Wulin shook his head with a bitter smile. "Looks like our class has two monsters now…"
Xie Xie clutched his chest dramatically, feigning heartbreak:
"Is this even fair?! Fang Yang alone was enough to crush my spirit—now Gu Yue too?!"
