Thus, Fang Yang led Na'er by the hand back to their home.
The living room was quiet and empty—his mother, Lin Ximeng, was still teaching at Red Mountain Academy and hadn't returned yet.
"Na'er, this is our home now," Fang Yang said softly.
Na'er stood shyly by the entryway, her large violet eyes darting nervously around the unfamiliar space.
"Hungry?" Fang Yang noticed how she kept glancing toward the kitchen—and the faint gurgle coming from her tiny stomach.
He gently ruffled her silver hair. "Go sit on the sofa for a bit, okay? Big Brother will cook something delicious for you."
Na'er nodded obediently and settled onto the living room couch.
In the kitchen, Fang Yang stood on a small stool and tied on his mother's favorite floral apron with practiced ease.
He filled a pot with water and set it to boil, then took fresh eggs and leafy greens from the fridge.
The clink of spatula against the pan, the sizzle of oil—it wasn't long before two perfect fried eggs were ready.
The whites had crisped into delicate golden lace at the edges, while the yolks trembled gently beneath translucent membranes, perfectly runny.
Meanwhile, the water had come to a rolling boil. Fang Yang dropped in noodles and added tender green vegetables.
The aroma of cooking food quickly filled the air—so enticing that even Na'er, sitting quietly in the living room, found herself drawn to the kitchen doorway, peeking out with wide, curious eyes.
"Almost done," Fang Yang called over his shoulder with a smile. He drained the noodles, poured in fragrant broth, and carefully placed the golden eggs on top.
He carried the steaming bowl carefully to the dining table and pulled out a chair for Na'er. "Here, try it."
Na'er climbed onto the seat, stared at the hot, fragrant noodles—and swallowed hard—but hesitated to pick up her chopsticks.
Fang Yang gently placed the utensils in her small hands. "Don't be scared, Na'er. This is your home now. You can tell Big Brother anything you want to eat."
Na'er carefully picked up a piece of egg and popped it into her mouth.
Instantly, her violet eyes lit up.
She began eating slowly at first—but soon sped up, clearly famished.
Between bites, she kept glancing up at Fang Yang across the table—her eyes shimmering with gratitude, affection, and something deeper she couldn't quite name.
Just then—click—the sound of a key turning in the lock.
Na'er flinched, her chopsticks clattering onto the table.
Fang Yang patted her hand gently. "It's just Mom coming home. Don't be afraid."
The door opened—and Lin Ximeng froze in the doorway.
Before her: her son tenderly wiping the mouth of a silver-haired, violet-eyed little girl, a half-finished bowl of noodles on the table between them.
Her gaze shifted between the two, finally settling on Na'er.
"Yang'er… who is this?" she asked, voice laced with clear confusion.
"Mom, I met Na'er on my way home…" Fang Yang explained, recounting everything that had happened.
"What? You ran into thugs?" Lin Ximeng's expression tightened instantly. She rushed over and began inspecting Fang Yang's arms, back—checking every inch for injuries.
Only after confirming he was unharmed did she exhale in relief—but her brow remained furrowed.
"You reckless child! What if something had happened to you…?"
Her voice trembled slightly, fear still lingering in her tone.
"Mom, I'm fine," Fang Yang grinned sheepishly, scratching his head to ease her worry.
Lin Ximeng sighed and finally turned her attention to Na'er, who was quietly finishing her noodles.
In a gentle voice, she asked, "Little one, your name is Na'er, right? Can you tell Auntie where your family is?"
Na'er lowered her head. Her silver bangs fell over her eyes, hiding her expression. In a voice barely above a whisper, she murmured, "I… don't have a family."
The words struck Lin Ximeng like a hammer to the heart.
"Do you know how to contact them? Or… anything at all about your past?" she pressed softly, trying to coax more out.
Na'er just shook her head again—this time, she didn't speak at all, only burying her face deeper into her chest.
Seeing she wouldn't get answers, Lin Ximeng changed tack. "Then… how old are you, Na'er? Surely you know that?"
She kept her tone light, hoping to put the girl at ease.
"Five and a half," Na'er finally replied—lifting her head this time, revealing those clear, amethyst eyes and a voice as sweet as wind chimes.
"Five and a half?!" Lin Ximeng gasped, her chest tightening with immediate compassion.
So young… Was she lost? Abandoned?
Swallowing her emotions, she reached out and stroked Na'er's soft silver hair. "You'll stay with us tonight. Tomorrow, Auntie will take you to the city administration office—we'll see if we can find your family."
Noticing Na'er's dirty, threadbare clothes, she added warmly, "Would you like a nice, hot bath first? Clean clothes will feel so much better."
Even though she had classes to teach tomorrow, Lin Ximeng had already decided to take a day off—to help this child uncover her origins.
Na'er nodded quietly—and to everyone's surprise, she reached out and took Lin Ximeng's hand herself, walking with her toward the bathroom.
He'd worked so hard to "kidnap" Na'er home—he absolutely had to keep her, Fang Yang thought firmly. Otherwise, fate would just reset… and Tang Wulin would "rescue" her again…
And then Gu Yue Na would fall for Tang Wulin once more—leaving Fang Yang as nothing but a joke!
Tang Wulin himself was upright and kind—but his father, Tang San?
Words failed.
Forever shouting, "You have brought death upon yourself!"
And let's not forget: the Endless Flame Domain had Yao Lao… but the Divine Realm? Nowhere to be found was Yu Xiaogang.
But fortune, after all, belonged to those who seized it!
While Fang Yang was lost in these thoughts, Lin Ximeng returned with Na'er from the bathroom.
The moment the freshly cleaned girl stepped into the living room, Fang Yang's eyes widened.
"Na'er… you're so beautiful!" he couldn't help but exclaim.
She wore one of Fang Yang's oversized T-shirts, which hung on her like a dress, falling just below her knees. The sleeves were rolled up multiple times to free her slender wrists.
Fresh from the bath, she smelled faintly of floral soap. Her fair skin glowed with a healthy pink flush, and her silver hair cascaded over her shoulders, shimmering like pearls under the light.
Hearing the praise, Na'er's cheeks flushed pink. She shyly ducked behind Lin Ximeng.
Lin Ximeng chuckled softly, shaking her head. "Look at you—making the poor girl blush!"
But despite her teasing words, her eyes were filled with tenderness. This silver-haired, violet-eyed child was truly enchanting.
A thought flickered through her mind: 'If Na'er could one day become my daughter-in-law… how wonderful that would be.'
Her gaze drifted between the two children—lingering on Fang Yang with quiet hope. Maybe… he'll know how to cherish this fate when it comes.
She gently took Na'er's hand again. "Come on, Na'er. Auntie will show you your room."
Na'er nodded obediently—and just before leaving, she turned back one last time, casting a soft, lingering glance at Fang Yang.
