When she finally woke up, it was still dark.
Pitch dark.
For a second, she wondered if the eclipse hadn't ended yet, but then she noticed the glow of flames burning inside the tent.
She was back in their tent, on the mattress and her cloak was still around her.
Eliora pushed herself up slowly, rubbing sleep from her eyes.
That was when she noticed Zarek sitting not too far from her, near the flame stand.
He looked deep in thought, like his mind was miles away from the tent. His hair was damp, like he had washed his face or stood under water.
Eliora watched him for a moment before shifting closer on the mattress.
"Zar…" she called softly, voice still thick with sleep.
He didn't answer so she moved closer, but the moment she got within full view of his face...she froze.
His eyes…they were blank, completely white with no pupil or color.
Eliora stumbled back on instinct, her heart jumping into her throat.
"Zarek!"
