He came back out not long after.
This time he was back in his human disguise, wearing a dark tunic and loose trousers. His hair was tied loosely at the nape of his neck, and even in this form, he still carried that same commanding presence that made people move out of his way without thinking.
Eliora looked up from where she sat. She gave a small nod. "You're quick."
He glanced at her. "You took longer."
She almost rolled her eyes but stopped herself. Instead she stood up.
"I'm ready."
In her mind though, she preferred his true form. There was something about it that felt more him. More real. Even though he was very handsome like this too.
He walked toward her then reached for the veiled hat he had hung neatly earlier.
Without saying anything, he placed it gently over her hair, adjusting the sheer fabric so it fell properly around her face.
The gesture was so natural, so careful, that she found herself watching his hands for a second longer than necessary.
