Girl's Hostel – Tuesday 7:01 AM
The room smelt freshly of vanilla and roses, mixed with cologne and the smell of bubblegum shampoo. With a toss, Davida opened her eyes. Her eyes flickered to the other girl.
"Kitchen opens by 8. I suggest you get up early." The other girl simply said.
Davida rolled her eyes. Ain't no way she was cooking. She looked the the girl who was completely engrossed in whatever she was listening to with her headphones over her head as she scribbled something.
"You know, you've not told me your name."
"I know." The girl responded immediately but not sharply, flipping a page of her book.
"Well tell me."
Silence.
She didn't answer; she didn't even look up.
Davida was getting infuriated by the girl by the second. She angrily stood up and marched into the bathroom with her towel.
"Be that way." She grumbled as she slammed the bathroom door shut.

Class 12 – Tuesday,10:15 AM
The teacher had just left after giving everyone an assignment. One student looked like he wanted to maul her as she told them to do a full coverage on a three hour movie on a man no one cares about.
Davida was ready to walk out when an all too familiar voice called out.
"Dada!"
Davida turned and saw her; Victoria, the only friend she ever managed to make since she had started her mission to drop out of every school that never allowed her to dress how she wanted.
How did they click off? They were both tomboys after the same cause.
They dropped out together.
"Oh my God! Vic!" Davida exclaimed and they gave each other a half hug.
Davida took in her outfit and was surprised to see her dressed in her usual tomboy clothes.
"Okay, tell me this is allowed." Davida asked, pointing to what she's wearing.
"Duhh." Victoria answered casually. Davida smirked and crossed her arms.
"Yeah, I'm so staying here." She said. Victoria grabbed her by the hand and dragged her to the front of the class. With just one hand clap, she had the entire class' attention.
"Hey monarchs. This is Dada. She's a musician and songwriter and my guy. You guys will love her." Victoria said, addressing the class at large. Before Davida could even say anything to the people waving to her, someone lifted her into a bear hug.
"Davida baby."
"Oh God, Victor!" Davida exclaimed and hugged the guy who had carried her. He was Victoria's twin brother and probably the sweetest soul in her life.
"Girl, cute locks. And how have you been?" Victor fussed.
He was a femme boy.
"Thanks. I've been on a rampage. Dad's insanely tired." Davida joked.
"Oh hi. I know you." A girl said. "Mavis." She introduced, stretching her hands forward. Davida shook it, giving the girl an odd stare.
"Black, right?"
"Yep." Mavis giggled. "I know, too fair to be black. But how'd you know?"
"The hair." Davida said, pointing to her braided hair. The girl smiled and turned to the girl beside her; a brown skinned girl.
"This beauty is Grace."
"Hello." Grace waved and Davida smiled.
"We are M3 by the way." Mavis said with a classic hair toss and Victoria rolled her eyes.
"Speaking of which, where's Miemie?" Victor asked, looking around.
"Hi." A girl casually greeted as she took a seat on the table where the group was huddled. She was wearing pink
But Davida could have sworn her hair was dyed brown and not that long, neither was she wearing pink.
And she was a guy
"This is Skye." Mavis introduced, snapping Davida out of her thoughts. Davida smiled and shook her hand.
"Skye, my buds." A deep girl's voice called and everyone turned.
Davida froze
Wait, he was a she?!
An exactly and unmistakably identical twin to Skye, dressed in black and short brown twists and looked like someone who anyone would call bro and probably hit on before realising she was a girl.
"Awww. Don't be like that Skylar." Skye pouted but Skylar didn't even look ready to buy her act. Skye scoffed and reluctantly handed a case of black pods over.
Skylar finally turned to Davida and smiled. And she actually looked feminine. Instead of a handshake, they fist bumped.
"Cody. Nice to meet you." Skylar said cooly and left.
"Surprised someone is more boyish than you?" Victoria whispered with a smirk and Davida gave her a shocked look.
Victor pointed to every other classmate, introducing them with just their names.
"And that's about everyone." He said with a grin.
Everyone looked, no, was nice to her.
"Yeah, a quick addition to that. We are the set of Kings and Queens." Mavis added.
"See, in this school, all sets are named. We name ourselves but sometimes each set may have another popular name amongst students." She added.
"So, kings and queens why?" Davida asked.
"Well, because we have monarchs in this class for one. And this set; well me," Victoria gushed before getting back to the point "brought about this." She said gesturing vaguely to her clothes.
"And also we started the WeRepresent. It's an annual school thing where we come out to represent different cultures. It was for Africa at first, but then as more joined, it went from WeRepresentAfrica to WeRepresentWorld." Grace added.
"So basically we rule this school." Samantha joked. (She was also a tomboy) Everyone laughed.
"But yeah. Basically." Victor rounded.
"I don't know about you guys, but I'm starving." Lucien groaned. He was a king, well, one of the monarchs in the class. Everyone else mumbled in support and started leaving in groups. Davida followed behind them with a grin.
Maybe this wouldn't be so bad
Maybe she might stay
Infact, she would stay

Girls' Hostel – Tuesday, 4:15 PM
Another eerily quiet afternoon between Davida and her roommate. Davida was eating chips while watching a movie while her roommate, who's name or class she still didn't know, was cleaning her side of the room.
The only sound that filled the silence was the constant rustling of the trash bag and the dusting and wiping of surfaces.
She didn't speak
Neither did Davida.
They didn't want to speak to each other- they didn't have to.
The girl was done cleaning and started sweeping with a broom. She started with her side and when she was done, she came to Davida's and started sweeping.
"Dust the shelves too." Davida said, slipping another chip in her mouth. The girl didn't answer her. Davida paused and sat up before repeating herself.
Still, nothing
"Hey, are you actually deaf?" She snapped.
"To stupid requests, yes." The girl shot back, not even glancing up from sweeping.
Davida wanted to maul her before a knock came on the door.
The girl quickly finished sweeping and vacuumed the dirt before opening the door.
"Hey Amy."
"Hey Davis." The girl responded to whoever was at the door and they did some sort of special handshake before she allowed him in.
"Oh Dada." He greeted. He was from her class.
Davis turned to the girl and Davida.
"Wait, you got a roommate? Finally." He teased. "Dada, how are you enjoying with Miemie?" He teased. Davida scoffed.
"She has a permanent 'bored' button on. And she's probably mute too." Davida said with clear annoyance in her voice. Davis laughed.
"Okay. So her name is Amelia, but don't call her that. Call her Miemie. She's the third of the M3. Black beauty. And you guys will get along. She's also a tomboy." Davis introduced. Amelia smiled, not a soft one, one that said 'so now you know'. The girl went back to her side, threw on an oversized cropped jersey and high waist trousers before heading out with Davis.
Davida smirked. So she actually had a heart, and a name
