The three get in the dungeon and find them self again in something like a Cathedral, silent and dark beneath something like moonlight. Lumine and Paimon looked down and saw no ground beneath their little way, towards theier way are illuminated by torches or chandeliers that give off a unique aura but Diluc did not slow as he pushed open the side entrance, already familiar with every shadow, every blind spot. Diluc explains this as he walks with the two of them.
>>"The Lyre is deeper and there are Fatui members and we only need one key, I have the other two already"<<
Paimon sighed and floated near Lumine and complained.
>>"Why does everything important have to be underground...?"<<
Her path led her up and down, the air growing colder with every level. The warmth of Mondstadt faded behind them, replaced by a stillness that felt older than the city itself.
Lumine and Diluc fought their way through the dungeon together, Paimon helping them as best she could but always staying close to Lumine. Diluc and Lumine work together as if they've been doing it for a long time, through spontaneous and rapid successive reactions and anticipation what the other would do. Together they found the key they needed and made their way to the room that was supposed to contain the lyre. They opened the door, and there it was. The lyre. Diluc and Lumine go together to the Lyre and they wanted to take it over but in the last second Diluc he blocks the attack at the last second.
Diluc stepped aside after the block and looked at Lumine in Fighting stance.
"Lumine, get ready."
Lumine nodded once, steadying her breath and thought to herself.
>>"Fast and stay light"<<
Diluc was already moving and he met the enemy head-on, his Claymore igniting as it crashed against their weapon with bone-rattling force. The impact sent sparks and embers spiraling through the air, but the enemy held their ground. Strong... stronger than expected. Diluc's eyes narrowed as he pushed forward, Pyro flaring brighter with every strike.
>>"So... you won't fall easily..."<<
Thought Diluc grimly, but that's all what he need to know to to turn the fight in his favor.
The enemy countered with brutal precision, forcing Diluc to retreat a single step a rare occurrence but Diluc knows that won't happen again. The pressure was immediate, dangerous. Diluc shifted his stance, blocking another heavy blow, the heat from his blade are only getting hotter.
Lumine felt the shift at once and she gathered Anemo energy around her as she darted into motion, her strikes quick and sharp. She slipped past a sweeping counterattack and struck at the enemy's side, only for them to twist away at the last moment the enemy is fast, too fast. Lumine clicked her tongue softly and know that she had to be faster.
>>"Then... I'll make the wind work harder."<<
She released a burst of Anemo, disrupting the enemy's footing just long enough for Diluc to drive forward again. Flames roared as his sword slammed down, forcing the enemy to defend instead of attack.
>>"Good, well thought out. Don't give them space."<<
Thought Diluc after Lumine's quick reaction.
But the enemy refused to break. They pushed back with a sudden surge of power, sending Diluc skidding across the ground. His boots dug into the stone, stopping him just short of losing balance but Diluc is unimpressed and stand straight again.
Lumine's heart jumped in worry for a moment but she saw how Diluc reacted and thought.
>>"He's fine, Absolutely. Diluc won't be brought down that easily."<<
Diluc straightened slowly, rolling his shoulder. Pain flared, but it was familiar and Manageable. His grip tightened and he thought annoyed from the enemy.
>>"We end this, now."<<
He drew back, resting the blade against his shoulder as Pyro energy surged violently along its edge. The flames twisted, growing, taking shape heat rolling outward in waves.
The enemy sensed it and lunged at Diluc, desperate to interrupt him but Lumine didn't hesitate and Diluc relies on Lumine's cover. She stepped forward and unleashed a Anemo tornado, slamming into the enemy's advance and hurling them straight into Diluc's line of attack.
>>"Now."<<
Thought Diluc with a grin and swung.
The phoenix of fire burst free with a deafening roar of fire, wings blazing as it tore through the air. Lumine thrust her hand forward filled with Anemo Energy and wind shot as she wrapped the Anemo currents around the flames, feeding them, accelerating them, making escape impossible.
Fire and wind collided in a violent inferno and the enemy vanished within it, when the flames finally dissipated, the battlefield was silent now. Diluc lowered his Claymore, the last embers fading from the blade. Lumine exhaled slowly as the Anemo currents dispersed around her.
They exchanged a brief glance no words needed but both acknowledge their teamwork with a nod, Lumine took the lyre and together they set off for the meeting point after Diluc said: >>"We should leave before Jean or your friend start to worry."<< On the way back, Paimon is excited and mentions several times how cool it was and how much they cared for both of them.
