The four tall figures quickly disappeared at the end of the corridor. Their heavy footsteps faded away, and the room finally returned to quiet.
Holding an armful of brand-new daily necessities, Lin Xia stood at the doorway, looking in the direction his senior brothers had left. The corners of his mouth unconsciously lifted.
Larvitar also relaxed. It rubbed its small head against Lin Xia's calf and let out a soft "Larvi," as if saying.
Those big guys… seem pretty nice?
Closing the door, Lin Xia immediately began tidying up.
He spread out the thick quilt that carried a faint scent of sunlight, changed the bedsheets and pillowcases, neatly arranged the washing items on the basin rack, and folded the new clothes before placing them into the wardrobe.
Under his hands, the room was instantly refreshed, filled with a warm and cozy atmosphere of daily life.
After finishing, Lin Xia walked over to the table and sat down. With a slight movement of his mind, he took dozens of softly shimmering secret silver ore pieces out of the spatial soul tool ring bestowed by his teacher, Lou Gao.
These ores were not large chunks, but blocky masses formed like condensed fine sand. They felt icy to the touch and emitted pure fluctuations of metallic energy.
Lin Xia picked up a piece of secret silver ore and placed it into his mouth without hesitation.
Crack.
The crisp sound echoed through the quiet room. He chewed slowly, sensing the refined metal energy melt in his mouth, flow down his throat, and spread through his limbs and bones, nourishing both his soul power and his physical body.
At the same time, he opened the book Lou Gao had given him and began reading greedily under the slanting sunlight streaming through the window.
Meanwhile, Larvitar, upon seeing the small pile of secret silver ore that had suddenly appeared on the table—each piece gleaming with an enticing silver glow had its ruby-like eyes burst out with an unprecedented brilliance!
"Larvi—tar!!!"
A shrill cry filled with extreme joy and happiness shattered the silence of the room!
Like an arrow released from a bow, Larvitar lunged toward the table. Its short claws moved at a speed almost impossible to see, grabbing secret silver ore pieces and stuffing them frantically into its mouth!
Crack crack crack—! Crunch crunch crunch—!
Its little head shook so fast it became a blur. Its cheeks puffed up round, nearly bursting through its gray-green skin. Sounds of utmost satisfaction rumbled from its throat, its eyes squinting into thin lines of bliss, while its tail swung excitedly, slapping against the air.
That eating posture— it was as if a glutton who had starved for hundreds of years had finally encountered a grand imperial feast. Every bite carried both accusation and compensation for the past half month of having to gnaw on ordinary stones while wandering through wind and dust.
The icy, pure energy of the secret silver ore made its entire body feel wonderfully comfortable, as if every single scale were cheering.
Lin Xia lifted his gaze from the book and looked at Larvitar's "starving ghost reincarnation" performance. The corner of his mouth twitched slightly both amused and heartbroken.
Since awakening its martial soul, this little fellow had followed him through mountains and rivers. The best thing it had ever eaten was iron ore. How could it have seen something this "high-grade" before?
No wonder it was this excited.
Lin Xia shook his head helplessly yet indulgently. Watching Larvitar sweep through the dozens of secret silver ore pieces on the table, he saw the small pile shrink rapidly before his eyes. Even after finishing, Larvitar pawed at the tabletop unwillingly, as if searching for any survivors.
Lin Xia silently sighed and lightly tapped the spatial ring with his finger.
Clatter—
Another small pile of secret silver ore of the same amount appeared on the table as if by magic, instantly filling the empty space Larvitar had cleared.
"Slow down. There's plenty."
Lin Xia said with a smile. Watching Larvitar fall back into ecstatic joy and pounce on the new pile, he also took a piece of secret silver ore and began eating.
Time quietly passed. About half an hour later—
Suddenly, the crack sounds stopped abruptly.
Lin Xia instinctively turned his head. He saw Larvitar lightly hop down from the table.
Instead of lying down contentedly as it usually did after eating its fill, or curiously looking around, it walked straight to Lin Xia's feet. It stretched out its gray-green little claw and gently—yet urgently tugged at Lin Xia's pant leg.
Lin Xia was pulled out of his focused reading, but felt no annoyance at all. He set the book aside, lowered his head, and looked at the little dinosaur at his feet, asking gently.
"Larvitar? What is it? Are you full?"
"Larvi! Larvitar!"
Seeing its master look at it, Larvitar immediately cried out excitedly. It first stretched out its short claws and firmly pointed at its round belly, then pointed toward the tightly closed door and the courtyard outside. Its eyes sparkled, filled with impatient excitement, as if eager to share something.
Next, it even hugged Lin Xia's pant leg with both little claws, leaning its body backward and making a strenuous pulling motion, as though it wanted to drag Lin Xia straight outside.
"Hm?"
Lin Xia looked at Larvitar's unusual and urgent behavior, momentarily stunned.
But when he met those shining ruby eyes and felt the intense excitement it was conveying, a thought flashed through his mind like lightning!
Lin Xia crouched down, leveling his gaze with Larvitar. A burst of immense surprise instantly lit up his eyes.
"Larvitar! Did you… learn a new move?!"
"Larvi!"
Larvitar nodded its little head vigorously, even the blunt horn on its head swaying along, responding with absolute certainty.
It released Lin Xia's pant leg and began hopping anxiously in place twice, then pointed outside the door again, a urging whine coming from its throat.
"Really?!"
The delight in Lin Xia's heart exploded at once. A brilliant smile bloomed across his face as he immediately stood up.
"Come on! Take me to see it!"
With permission granted, Larvitar instantly shot toward the doorway like a gray-green arrow. Using its small claws, it nimbly pushed open the half-closed door and dashed into the backyard.
Lin Xia followed closely behind, his heart beating faster with anticipation.
Larvitar did not run around the yard aimlessly. Its small nose twitched slightly, as if searching for a suitable spot.
Soon, it locked onto a relatively open patch of ground in the corner of the garden. Only some hardy weeds grew there—no delicate flowers.
It turned its head and let out a "Larvi" toward Lin Xia, signaling him to look here.
Lin Xia held his breath, his gaze firmly fixed on Larvitar.
He saw the little fellow stand before that patch of soil, lowering its body slightly as an invisible wave of energy spread out from its small form.
Immediately after, its short foreclaws and its small head covered in gray-green armor lit up simultaneously with a layer of earth-yellow light that looked almost tangible!
The glow was condensed and unwavering, carrying a heavy yet sharp aura, as if the power of the earth had been gathered into a single point!
In the next instant, Larvitar moved!
Its speed was astonishing. The moment its charge finished, its entire body turned into a high-speed spinning drill, plunging straight down into the soil beneath its feet!
Puh—crash!
There was no violent collision or billowing dust as imagined. At the moment its earth-yellow–shrouded head and claws touched the ground, the hard soil seemed to turn into soft quicksand, effortlessly splitting apart and giving way!
A circular hole nearly half a meter in diameter, with smooth edges and unfathomable depth, appeared before Lin Xia's eyes almost in the blink of an eye!
The displaced soil seemed to have been instantly transferred and compressed by an invisible force into the surrounding walls of the tunnel. The entire process was unbelievably smooth!
Only a faint earth-yellow glow lingered around the edge of the hole, along with wisps of fresh soil scent.
"This… this is?!"
