Chapter 71 - [71] Pushing Boundaries Too Far

"You should know the truth about what happened back then."

Saint Saturn nodded in satisfaction. Although Ross was a late bloomer, for a family with such a long history, it was never too late to awaken.

Although he didn't explain it very clearly, he believed Ross would understand.

The true gods died 1,500 years ago.

The authority of the gods has been dispersed, and even the sun god of the second world is nothing more than a false sun god who has eaten a devil fruit.

Such a creature, to call itself a god, is nothing more than borrowing the legacy of the ancient times.

If it weren't for our family ancestors back then...

Thinking of this, Saint Saturn promptly stopped imagining.

The past is past; the future is what matters most.

Now that Ross can withstand the side effects of that fruit, he might be able to lead Jaygarcia to the highest realm in the future.

"Let's talk about something else."

Saint Saturn looked at Ross and said, word by word:

Just as you guessed, a group of unrelated people appeared in Ohara.

"They all went?" Ross smiled.

This was something he had mentioned to Saint Saturn beforehand, and something he had made sure the other party paid attention to in advance.

From his perspective, the Revolutionary Army, Vegapunk, and the Giants should all be wiped out.

"The first to go were the giants, ostensibly to collect Saul's corpse, but actually to covet the scriptures of Ohara," Saint Saturn sneered.

"So, are you ready?" Ross asked with a smile.

"The affairs of the giants have always been handled by the Knights of God, so why should we get involved?" Saint Saturn said calmly.

Saint Shepherd is really lying...

Ross scoffed inwardly; he didn't believe that Saint Saturn hadn't made preparations.

Despite the impressive scale of Sakazuki's destruction of the islands, the ancient texts of Ohara had long been hidden by historians, some buried underground and others thrown into the lake.

It's important to know that Ohara has more than just historical records.

Many ancient technologies could even inspire Vegapunk.

Vegapunk is hailed as a scientific genius who transcended the world by five hundred years, which is enough to prove the value of those classic works.

If Saint Saturn doesn't take precautions after knowing this information, then he really needs to consider keeping a low profile and lying low.

If your teammates are too stupid, then you can only wait until they become invincible before you come out of retirement.

"Leave the matter of the giants to the Knights of God, but you are the God of Scientific Defense, so the affairs of the Science Department are your responsibility."

Ross responded nonchalantly, noting that the giants' stronghold was far away in the deepest part of the New World, and he wouldn't have any dealings with them for some time.

Once he becomes invincible, the giants will have no use for any of their trump cards.

If these trump cards were truly formidable, given the brute nature of the giants, they would have already stormed Mary Geoise; they wouldn't be content to remain confined to their small territory.

The most crucial thing now is Vegapunk. Knowing that the opponent is absolutely uncontrollable, he doesn't want to be cleaning up the mess for Saint Saturn in the future.

"Ross, you're going too far."

Saint Saturn said calmly, "Everyone has different values. Even if he loses his value in researching weapons of war, he can still shine in other ways."

"Can you understand the process of his research?" Ross asked rhetorically.

Doesn't he know what kind of people the Celestial Dragons are? They're all illiterate, without exception.

They're into science and technology, but there are hardly any who can even understand chemical equations.

"I don't understand it, but that doesn't stop me from recognizing the value of the finished product," said Saint Saturn.

"Are you sure he won't be secretly researching this? What good would it do us if he actually came up with something and leaked it out?" Ross asked again.

He has always adhered to the principle of prioritizing the elimination of such unstable factors over their utilization.

Vegapunk is not like Nico Olvia.

Given his knowledge of ancient languages, Robin and Olvia had no way of accessing the true history.

Even if he gets in touch with them, there's no loss for him if he spreads the word.

Ultimately, reaching the top of the world still comes down to military force.

But Vegapunk is different; he's a powerful figure who can mass-produce Class B robots and is said to be able to create Class A clones as well.

Ross himself wasn't afraid, but he didn't want a world that was shattered.

B-rank and A-rank powerhouses can be instantly killed by admiral-level powerhouses, but if this were to happen in the Four Seas or the first half of the Grand Line, it would be a massacre.

In this technologically underdeveloped world, no one can stop Vegapunk from transmitting information. If the Revolutionary Army were to acquire the technology to mass-produce Class B robots, it would be a disaster for the World Government.

Even if the revolutionary army is wiped out, there will always be many people in the world who are interested in this, and it would be troublesome if these people found out.

Even if the cost of producing a Class B robot is very high, the cost of downgrading to a Class C robot can definitely be reduced by a lot.

If the World Government can mass-produce Class B robots, other factions can mass-produce Class C robots.

If the enemy uses these robots to wage guerrilla warfare against them, they will have absolutely no way to deal with it.

In the end, the only way to defeat technology is to use technology itself. But then another question arises: why would the world government assume that Vegapunk wouldn't add backdoors to robots or clones?

Even if a backdoor is added, do you think those scientifically incompetent people in the World Government could actually detect it?

"That makes sense, but it's a real shame that a user who is compatible with the Brain-Brain Fruit is so rare." Saint Saturn sighed softly.

"There's no need to regret the fruit. Once a user dies, they'll be reborn. We can just find someone more suitable," Ross said.

He knew that since Saint Saturn had said that, it meant that the other party had been persuaded.

Vegapunk is valuable, but not so important to the World Government; in fact, he is dispensable.

An arms race is only necessary when there are equal adversaries, in order to enhance one's own strength as much as possible.

The World Government is currently the only dominant force, with only a few powerful individuals remaining in other factions. If the World Government were to take control, it could sweep across the entire ocean in a year.

Compared to them, the other factions need Vegapunk more.

If other factions had Vegapunk, they might have the resources to challenge the World Government, relying solely on the supplies from the New World.

"What a pity, but it's his own fault for going to Ohara."

Saint Saturn shook his head and reached a consensus with Ross.

He originally planned to keep Vegapunk around to develop civilian technology and quickly establish transportation between the Red Line and the various islands.

But Ross is right now; there's no need to risk causing unrest for something unimportant.

In just a few words, the two men decided the fate of a world-leading scientist.

Ross didn't mention Dragon, who also appeared in Ohara.

Dragon hasn't even created the Revolutionary Army yet, and the World Government doesn't care at all about his kids playing house.

If he were to bring up the threat posed by Dragon now, Saint Saturn would not only not believe him, but would also think he was making a mountain out of a molehill and that he lacked the perspective of a Celestial Dragon.

Given his strength, he's probably only about equal to Dragon, so it's highly unlikely he'd take on this task voluntarily.

Anyway, Dragon won't cause any trouble in Jaygarcia District. A more chaotic world would only benefit the development of Jaygarcia District.

"Then, there's only one thing left."
