Chapter 24 - [24] The Death Knell Rings

"Choose my ass!!! Robin, don't listen to him..."

Saul's booming voice echoed continuously, filled with anger.

"Zane, shut him up."

Ross's smiling expression suddenly vanished, and his eyes turned cold.

"Yes!"

Zane, who had been standing lazily, suddenly leaped out like a cheetah.

"Ah!"

Saul, his face contorted with rage, slammed his massive iron fist down at Zane.

"Too slow. Your giants rely entirely on physical talent for attack. When they encounter a strong opponent of the same level, they have absolutely no chance."

Zane didn't even try to meet Saul head-on; she simply moved past his fist as they passed each other.

Even at Saul's peak, she could easily overwhelm him with her speed. Not to mention that Saul had just recovered from his injuries and hadn't received any nutritional supplements in recent days, leaving him utterly weakened.

This state wasn't too disadvantageous for Devil Fruit users, but for giants who rely on their physical strength, the gap would be insurmountable.

Given Saul's current form, both Gion and Ross could easily handle him.

Swish!!!!

Zane's figure kept flashing around Saul, and each flash created another wound on Saul's body, splattering large amounts of blood.

In just a moment, Saul was covered in blood and collapsed to the ground.

"Three minutes left."

Ross glanced at Saul, who was lying on the ground, and smiled with satisfaction.

This kind of arduous work should definitely be done by the CP0 people.

He didn't intend for Gion or Zephyr to do these things; Gion still needed training. As for Zephyr, he'd be fine with killing, but such torture would make him repulsed.

Turning back, Ross looked at Robin, who was completely terrified and at a loss, and shook his head with some boredom.

Even an 8-year-old historian is still just an ordinary 8-year-old girl.

"Since you can't make a decision, I'll save you some trouble."

As Ross spoke, he fiddled with his hands behind his back, then placed both fists in front of Robin:

"I have a leaf in one hand. If you choose that hand, it means you have chosen to save Saul. If you choose the hand without the leaf, it means you have chosen to save your mother."

"It's simple, isn't it? It's your turn to choose."

Seeing Robin staring nervously at his hands, Ross chuckled softly:

"Oh right, we need to hurry, there are only one minute and 30 seconds left."

Hearing Ross's words, Robin became even more nervous, her face scrunched up, and her eyes kept darting between Ross's hands.

Robin was now on the verge of collapse.

But faced with Saul's predicament, she knew she had to make a choice.

Otherwise, her mother and Saul might really die.

If she had to choose for herself, she simply couldn't make a decision. She couldn't bring herself to sacrifice anyone, not even her beloved mother.

But Ross gave her a good idea: she could choose randomly.

Whatever choice she makes, it's not of her own free will.

Maybe this will make me feel a little better...

Robin kept seeing images of Saul and Olvia in her mind. She had come to regard Saul as a friend these days, but in terms of intimacy, she could never compare to Olvia.

But Saul saved her mother's life, so how could she possibly abandon Saul to save her mother?

"30 seconds left!"

The reminder came again, making Robin jump and quickly shout:

"I choose your right hand, I choose your right hand!"

"My right hand!"

Ross chuckled and deliberately raised his right hand to his face, leaving only a tiny gap.

"Hey, it looks like there's a hint of a leaf. Sigh, your mother is so pitiful, I'm going to kill her. But it's alright, it's just a matter of one stab, it'll be quick."

Robin's pupils constricted, and she stared at Ross in terror, beginning to shout:

"No no no no!!!! I choose Mom! I choose Mom!"

She couldn't stand the fact that what Ross said was happening.

Not to mention, it was because of her that her mother might have been killed.

"You chose my right hand, so there's no going back on your choice."

Ross, a smile still playing on his lips, watched Robin's expression begin to crumble. Suddenly, he extended his right hand, placing it in front of her, his five fingers slowly opening:

"See, you chose the right one. There are no leaves inside. Congratulations, you've saved your mother. In the name of Celestial Dragon Jaygarcia Ross, I promise you that Nico Olvia will be allowed to leave this island alive."

"We're saved..."

When Robin saw Ross's empty palm, she felt an immense sense of relief.

She could no longer support her body and collapsed weakly to the ground.

She did not doubt Ross's words.

As the youngest historian, Robin was well aware of the prestige of the Celestial Dragons; no one would joke about the Celestial Dragons' name.

"Alright, now that Robin has made her choice, I'm going to proceed with Robin's other choice."

Ross said with a smile, clapping his hands lightly.

Zane, who was not far away, immediately understood and prepared to take action to deal with Saul.

At that moment, Zephyr suddenly appeared beside the fallen Saul:

"Let me do it."

He had just watched the whole thing, but ultimately didn't choose to do anything.

At fifty years old, he was long past the age of simply watching the process unfold.

No matter how bad Ross's personality was, it was a personal problem and had nothing to do with the overall situation.

There are many violent villains in the Marines, but they only torture and kill pirates, not bully their colleagues.

So as long as Ross continued on the path he accepted, he could pretend he didn't see any problems that arose along the way.

As long as Ross's evil was not directed at the Marines or his former students, that was enough.

"Saul, you are a good person, but sometimes kindness expressed in the wrong way can have a more terrible effect than evil."

Zephyr walked up to Saul, calmly finished saying what he wanted to say, and slowly raised his fist.

In an instant, his fist was imbued with Armament Haki.

On the high seas, Zephyr had another title besides "The Admiral Who Doesn't Kill".

'Black Wrist' Zephyr.

Black represented his mastery of Armament Haki, and his wrist represented his physical skills.

Having such a title proved that he had reached the pinnacle of physical skills in Armament Haki.

"Admiral Zephyr, you are a demon who encourages evil!!!"

Saul stared at Zephyr, but could only utter hoarse sounds.

He was utterly exhausted. He couldn't get any nutrition in Ohara, and even though his injuries had mostly healed, he was still only a fraction of his former strength.

If Saul was already getting utterly crushed by Zane, then Zephyr was even less likely to be able to withstand it.

But...

Giants have no warriors who lie down and wait to die!

"Roar!!!"

"Robin! Live on! You're a kind child, and you'll find your own companions!"

Saul let out a loud roar, struggled to prop himself up, and swung his fist heavily at Zephyr.

Rip!!!

A sound of flesh being torn apart rang out, and Saul's punching motion came to a complete halt.

A bloody hole appeared in the center of his right fist, and a vacuum appeared in the area behind his heart, so much so that one could even see the distant blue sky through Saul's heart.

Zephyr was covered in Saul's blood, but he simply withdrew his fist indifferently and turned to walk towards Ross.

"Zephyr!!!"

The giants' powerful bodies allowed Saul to retain his last breath even after his heart shattered.

Saul gave a final shout and swung his fist at Zephyr once more.

Bang!!!

Gunshots rang out.

Ross coldly lowered the platinum pistol, and Saul suddenly had a bloody hole in his eye socket.

This shot completely robbed Saul of all hope.

Boom!

A loud thud as something heavy hit the ground—that was the sound of Saul collapsing completely.

[A-level kill achieved!]

[Strength +500,000]

[Special Reward: Erubafu no Yari]

After accepting the reward, Ross was quite surprised by the new moves that had appeared in his mind.

The A-level special reward was still amazing; it directly granted him a special technique from the Giant race.

Whether using a blunt weapon or a sword, this special martial art can be unleashed, generating a shockwave powerful enough to pierce through a sea monster hundreds of meters in size in an instant.

And...

[Host: Ross]

[Strength: 715132/1000000 (C+, Rear Admiral)]

With just one A-level reward, his strength had approached that of a Vice Admiral.

After this Buster Call ended, he had gained some strength, enough to not need Zane's presence when handling matters.
