"Auntie!"
Seeing Lydia, little Geoff spread his arms wide like a bird and rushed towards her.
"Geoff, Geoff is so happy today."
Lydia, warm and affectionate, especially adored children. She believed that being kind to others' children would make others treat her own child well.
"Yes, very happy. This is the first time Daddy has taken me out to play. It feels wonderful."
The child's innocent words revealed his genuine feelings.
"Good, as long as you're happy."
Lydia held a hand of each child and walked over to Merrick.
"I didn't invite you; you came on your own. So don't question my intentions."
It was better to clarify things to avoid being labeled as manipulative.
"What difference does it make? You're the one who set this up."
Merrick's voice was cold and hard.
"You... Fine, then let me ask you this: If you knew I set this up, why did you still come?"
