ARCADIA GENERAL HOSPITAL - NEXT MORNING
Dr. Reeves came in at 7 AM with final test results.
"Everything looks good, Mr. Starr. No signs of neurological damage, no hidden complications. You're cleared for discharge." She made notes on her tablet. "Take it easy for a few days. If you experience any headaches, dizziness, or unusual symptoms, come back immediately."
"Understood."
"Your mother is in the waiting room. The nurse will bring discharge papers."
Twenty minutes later, Orion walked out of the hospital with Cassia. The morning sun was bright over New Eden's towers. Delivery drones zipped overhead. The city pulsed with its usual energy.
"I took the day off work," Cassia said as they walked to the transit hub. "I want to make sure you're really okay."
"Mom, I'm fine."
"I know I was just worried—" Her voice caught. "I thought I'd lost you."
He hugged her. "I'm here. I'm alive. I promise I'm okay."
