They returned quietly.
Runar opened a path straight into the protected region of Willith's Universe. The weave he had placed around his family years ago was still intact. The land remained peaceful. The air felt stable. Outside this small area the universe had changed a great deal because of the new reincarnators, but here everything stayed calm. The garden paths were still lined with the same flowering shrubs. The courtyard stones still held the warmth of afternoon sun. Nothing had been disturbed. Nothing had been threatened.
It held, Runar thought, feeling the weave confirm his presence. Every storm that passed through this universe curved around them. Every conflict found a different direction. They never even knew.
He did not feel pride about that. He felt relief.
