Chapter 23 - Chapter 23: The Crack of Truth

[Scene:] The secret chamber of the Thorne Estate. Late at night, amidst a torrential thunderstorm.

1.1 The Forbidden Delivery

Outside, a violent storm raged, waves crashing against the cliffs with an ear-splitting roar. A private cargo plane from the Baglio Family landed in the extreme weather, delivering a silver metal case wrapped in layers of black velvet.

There was no lock, only a circle of flowing, dark-purple energy runes.

Alistair stood before the case, the thorn pattern on his hand throbbing and seeping tiny droplets of blood due to the proximity. Through the Blood Symbiosis, he could feel Eleanor in the adjacent room enduring the same searing pain.

"Tutor, this is the true vessel of the Eye of Samos—The Mirror of Memory," Lydon whispered, his voice laced with dread. "The Baglio patriarch left a message: 'What is revealed in the mirror may not be the past, but more likely a cursed destiny.'"

Alistair snorted coldly, waving his hand to shatter the energy seal around the case.

1.2 The Shattered Reflection

The case opened slowly to reveal an ancient marble hand-mirror. The surface wasn't glass but a constantly fluctuating, semi-transparent deep blue liquid.

The moment Alistair touched the handle, the door burst open. Eleanor rushed in, her face ashen, clutching the mark on her collarbone.

"Don't touch it!" she screamed in despair.

But it was too late. Their bloodlines were already bound. As Alistair's fingers brushed the mirror, the blue liquid boiled, and a blinding light engulfed them both.

1.3 The Melodramatic Truth: The True Face of the Sacrifice

Within the light, fragmented memories began to reassemble. Alistair and Eleanor were transported back ten years to the old Thorne Estate.

In the vision, a younger Alistair wasn't the cold Tutor he is now, but a desperate heir trapped by the Council and the algorithm curse. In a secret chamber, the old Patriarch was giving an order over a photograph:

"We aren't looking for a 'Heir's Assistant,' but a 'Human Sacrifice.' This girl (young Eleanor) possesses the purest medium bloodline. Only by raising her by Alistair's side, making her fall in love with him, and then sacrificing her heartbreak, can the algorithm curse in Alistair be truly broken."

In the present, Alistair froze completely.

He had always believed he was her savior—the one who rescued her from the orphanage and gave her power, knowledge, and status.

The truth was: He was the vampire. Every ounce of suffering she endured over the past decade, even the uncontrollable feelings she developed for him, were all meticulously engineered "nutrients" by the Thorne family to cure him.

1.4 The Tutor's Collapse and the Frenzy of Possession

The light faded, leaving the secret room in deathly silence.

Eleanor collapsed to the floor, letting out a haunting, desolate laugh. "So that's it… Alistair, my ten years of love was just a prescription for your illness? You taught me to love just so I could die more effectively?"

Alistair's heart felt as though it were being shredded by blades. Due to the Blood Symbiosis, Eleanor's despair was transmitted to him tenfold, making it almost impossible to stand.

"This wasn't my will…" Alistair's voice was hoarse. He tried to help her up, but she shoved him away violently.

"Don't touch me!" Her eyes no longer held love, only a heart-wrenching grayness. "You keep saying I'm your prisoner, but you're the most pathetic one! Your very life is lived on the credit of my soul!"

Alistair's pride and arrogance shattered. But he was Seven Lord, the madman who would rather destroy the world than let go.

He lunged forward, pinning her against the cold wall, his eyes bloodshot with a destructive fervor.

"Since I only live because of your soul, then we are even more inseparable. Eleanor, listen—even if this love is a conspiracy, even if you are my medicine, I will have you burn to ashes with me in this hell!"

He crashed his lips onto hers in a kiss that tasted of blood, remorse, and an even deeper, darker possessiveness.
