Chapter 17 - Chapter Sixteen

Everyone in that house (except me and Sammy) had already gone to a sorority for as little as days and as much as years.

There are five boys and three girls sitting on sofas in front of me.

I can say that they are some of the most beautiful people the world will ever know. Plenty of all that ethereal, otherworldly kind of beauty, looking like delicate things, fragile and easily breakable with a push, but there's something vicious lurking beneath their masks.

Something other, predatory and looking for a way out.

It's on the tilt of their eyes, on the way their fingertips all have sharp nails, on their very pretty and suited clothes without a wrinkle. It's in their posture, as if in standby waiting to pounce.

To me, they all look like coiled snakes, no matter how elegant a snake can be, how smooth their skin, how iridescent their colors, how graceful their glide, they all have the intrinsic urge to bite, even without fangs.

The porch was very much unremarkable, but the inside of the house is exquisite. I don't know how they manage to maintain it all but they are doing a good job. Everywhere I look there's antiques, even the house itself seems to be georgian style, well reformed, all high ceiling, wood and stone. The sofas are both brown english row arm style, with lots of white fluffy pillows. They are parallel to each other, with a big carved marble fireplace.

The 55 inches LCD TV above it cuts the vibe a little though.

"Let's get the awkwardness out of the way, these are Alexandra and Samantha Knight, the new residents of our humble home." Says Gabriell.

Lucca squeezes my hand tightly.

I just keep looking at them while they observe me. My feet one step back, I don't know if I will ever feel safe again.

One of the boys gets up and gives a sunny smile.

"Let's start with the introductions. My name is Tauro Mc Glhahann, I'm from Italy, and I'm also a wolf. It's a great pleasure to meet you ladies." He winks and sits down on the end of the sofa again.

He's olive tanned, with deep brown wide set eyes and a somewhat shaggy brown hair that falls over his eyes. He's wearing only ripped blue jeans, his muscles on display. No shirt, no shoes, not even a slipper.

That for some reason gives an urge to laugh. I look away first while the corners of my mouth try to rise.

"Don't worry, girls, this one is more like a domesticated dog." Says the boy next to him. "I'm Johhan Theunderbell, from Stuttgart, Germany, I'm also a wolf. Nice to meet you."

I nod.

Sammy says hi too.

This one also wears only dark blue jeans, with his defined chest on display, messy dark gray hair, piercing light green eyes, he's a very light wheat color. I don't know if his hair is dyed, if it's not, I wonder if it's part of not being human, was he born like this?

Another boy gets up and does a bow with his right hand over his chest.

"My name is Huggo De Fleur, from Paris, France, I am a vampire. It is a great pleasure to meet you ladies."

The boy has porcelain fair skin, amber almond eyes, and white blond hair. Unlike the other two, he was wearing a shirt in addition to jeans. But he was still just as strong. Although he is wearing modern clothes like any normal guy and has a cute baby face still, like just out of puberty, there's an air about him, almost nostalgic in a way, like looking at a beautiful cathedral overgrown with nature but still enveloped in a ray of sunlight.

I don't know if it's him sending the image to me or just my brain making associations, but it looks very beautiful anyway.

His smile falters for a second, so fast I almost think it's an illusion.

The other guy on the other sofa gets up too and Huggo sits down.

"I'm Ivan Villa Nova, from Seville, Spain, also a vampire." He doesn't get up, doesn't smile, or say anything else. Just keep looking at us without any expression.

Sammy gives a step closer to me and he follows the movement.

Mahogany short straight hair slightly orange at the ends, definitely dyed, deep set hazel eyes, also dressed.

"Vincent Buckheiseiin, from Frankfurt, you can call me Vin, I'm a Neefilin, it's a pleasure to meet you, Miss." He says softly, looking me in the eye. His voice is soothing and strangely makes me lower my guard for a moment.

I see a room lit only by night light, Vinccentt is lying on the bed in just white pants, I go to him, the layers of a transparent nightgown flutter around me as I bend down and kiss him.

The image fades away.

Desire.

Lucca said that supernaturals can make other supernaturals see their desires.

That is his wish.

Now, in addition to the shivers down my spine, I start to tremble and my breathing quickens. This is all crazy.

Vincent Buckheiseiin. Pinkish white skin, lilac colored peach blossom eyes that contrast with his sandy hair, the only guy dressed in soft loose clothes, it reminds me of those beach models though, all neutral color linen and cotton.

He just smiles at me while I scowl.

"Hello, I'm Anny McBell, I'm from London. I'm the Neefilim who predicted you would be transformed. Welcome, I'm very glad you're here." Her voice is cheerful and makes my face relax again.

She's a tall girl, at least a head taller than my mediocre 5.5 ft, with short bob chocolate colored hair, pretty camel round eyes, and rosy complexion. She exudes a calming energy.

"My name is Alanis Birmingham, from Lancashire, I'm a Neefilim." Says the girl next to Anny without getting up.

A honey skinned girl, wavy chestnut hair with blond ombre, downturned dark eyes, with a somewhat sloppy posture.

"Tannisha Bruhessen, from Bucharest, lycanthrope. Nice to meet you."

She is a very dark-skinned girl, with very round and upturned black eyes, curly black hair falling down in very defined ringlets to her waist, some with golden jewelry at various heights, some strands up in an elaborate pull up, and a gentle expression.

There are so many emotions that my heart skips a beat when Gabriell finally closes the door with a faint click behind us, then sits on a couch next to Ally.

They all look like they came out of People magazine, and I look like I came out of the Greensburb dump.

Another boy comes down the curved stair that leads to the second floor.

Incredibly, he looks a lot like Lucca.

Too similar. Like twins.

But he has a bottle of whiskey in his hand.

"Don't pay attention to what he says. He's my idiot brother, Pietro," Lucca whispers in my ear.

He puts his arm around my waist and pulls me close to him.

Lucca was very sad when talking about his past, so how can he call his brother an idiot?

Pietro.

The same almond shaped emerald eyes, same dark brown hair, even their muscle building is the same, only Lucca doesn't look like a drunkard that can't keep his stead.

"So, little brother, have you found yourself a beggar? Does her parents know their little lamb is in a den of wolves?"

The actual wolves in the room literally growled.

"Oh, I forgot they're in heaven!" He smirks. The same face, but his grin makes my stomach turn.

I feel the sting of my nails digging hard into my palms. Lucca's arms tighten around me.

The words hit me like a punch in the face.

How could he?

He has no right to make fun of my parents.

Sammy next to me looks pale and furious. She gives one step forward and I hold her back with one hand in her arm.

"That was cruel, Pietro." Anne says sharply."

"You really are a bastard!" Ally mutters loud enough for everyone to hear.

I'm so enraged I'm not even conscious of my next move.

At an absurd speed, I go to Tauro and take out a black dagger (which I don't know how I knew) that is tied by a garter to his right leg, and I go to Pietro.

Pushing him against the wall, I can feel the confused looks directed at me.

I press the knife against Pietro's neck and it cuts easily like butter, a bright red flow immediately appearing and going down his clavicle making his shirt soak fast.

"You have no right to talk about my parents." I say quietly looking into the fear deep in his eyes.

I press the dagger further.

"You wouldn't have the courage to kill me." He laughs, his throat moving and making the flow more pronounced.

I don't know what he sees in my face but he immediately changes his expression.

"Let me go you bitch, you're crazy!"

Before he can push me away, I take the knife from his throat and make a cut from his forehead to his jaw.

Blood quickly floods his face and clothes.

I can't stay here for a minute.

I can't bear to be around him.

I can't let them see me cry.

I won't give Pietro that satisfaction.

So when he pushes me away I use his force to propel me back, turn and break through the door with the same speed that I grabbed the knife, I head outside, into the darkness.

I feel like staying a second more will turn me into something I don't want to be.

Something ugly and perverse.

The pain burning in my chest expands from inside out, radiating through my veins.

Like the night Theodore changed everything.

I don't see the path I take, the speed so fast is like going in a high speed train, unable to stop, only going forward. Even the impact with the trees and bushes doesn't make me stop.

I continue forward, even when blood spills from my nose and mouth, the metallic taste filling my senses.

Run, run, run, RUN!
