Chapter 39 - Chapter 39 Fish Scales X Intelligence

Kevin opened the box.

Inside, there were scales that had been peeled off.

These scales, when illuminated by light, faintly reflected brilliant, rainbow-like colors.

Each scale was just the right size, and counting them carefully, there were exactly twenty-three.

"Are these fish scales?" Kevin asked.

Bisky nodded.

"These are from a pest. That strange fish specializes in eating gems and lives near a Lulugem mine at the bottom of the sea.

Who knows how many beautiful gems it has ruined; it's a complete and utter pest!"

As she spoke, Bisky angrily waved her fists and shouted loudly, clearly furious about this pest.

Eating gems, huh? For an elder like you, it certainly counts as a pest. Kevin thought to himself, silently reaching out to touch them.

Instantly, a feeling of craving surged in his heart, a craving only slightly less intense than when he touched the Double-Headed Wolf's shed horn.

But compared to that short, hollow horn, there were a full twenty-three scales here.

Kevin quickly closed the box, widened his eyes at Bisky, then unhesitatingly pounced and hugged Bisky's leg.

"Thank you, Master! You're truly someone who could be like my mother! I'll definitely treat you well from now on!"

Kevin was a sensible child, and Bisky was quite happy in her heart.

But Kevin's words implied she was old, and that was unforgivable.

Bisky directly kicked Kevin away, sending him crashing heavily into the wall.

Excellent technique.

It was loud but didn't hurt; he got a beating and learned something new.

"I'm a beautiful girl who's only eighteen! I have no intention of being a mother!"

This interaction between the two made Yun Gu's forehead break out in a cold sweat.

After a brief playful scuffle, Bisky asked, "Can you tell what effect a material has on you just by touching it?"

Kevin nodded: "The more advanced a material is, and the better quality of potion it can produce, the stronger the craving I feel when I touch it."

"Craving?!" Bisky's expression became somewhat serious. "Are you sure it's not some other emotion?"

Kevin nodded firmly again: "It's craving, the feeling is very clear."

"Is that so…"

Bisky seemed to perceive something, but it was difficult to articulate at the moment.

Finally, they used the laptop in the room to search for relevant data according to Kevin's needs.

This time, Bisky didn't have to operate it herself.

Yun Gu pushed up his glasses, took out his Hunter License, and began searching for information on the data website.

"You're a Hunter?" Kevin said in surprise.

"I got it early this year."

"Darn it, I was planning to take the Hunter Exam next year and even thought of inviting you along, but I didn't expect you'd already gotten yours."

"I only learned Nen after I got my Hunter License…" Yun Gu said with a drawn-out tone.

"Hmm? After becoming a Hunter, will there be a dedicated teacher to guide you?" Kevin asked curiously.

Bisky, who was flipping through a magazine nearby, nodded.

"That's right, every Hunter who successfully passes the assessment will have a dedicated Old Hunter to guide them.

Although not every Hunter is as experienced in teaching as I am, it can at least ensure that these new Hunters don't learn in a disorganized way."

"Does that mean that all Nen Users with a Hunter License are very powerful?"

"Idiot!" Bisky rolled up the magazine and lightly tapped Kevin on the head.

"Hunters are not necessarily good at combat; they are simply experts in their respective fields!

Don't always think about combat; combat is just a means of protecting yourself, not the ultimate goal of life."

As she spoke, Bisky stared seriously at Kevin: "Don't become a slave to the desire for combat."

Kevin nodded seriously, then slightly defended himself: "I just lack a sense of security; actually, I'm not very interested in combat."

"That's good; I still trust both of you on that point."

One was sloppy and rigid, the other smart but a bit unreliable.

Kevin's attention returned to the computer screen.

Soon, he found key information.

"Wait a minute, what are these [Secret Realm] and [Demon Realm]? They sound like game settings."

He had never seen these two terms when he was searching for information online before.

"These are internal channels of the Hunter intelligence network; this information is not publicly available.

Although Hunters are a civilian organization, they have a deep cooperative relationship with V5. As an organization that gathers top talents, Hunters can grasp a lot of confidential information that ordinary people and even some countries cannot know."

"Is it that amazing?" Kevin was truly surprised this time.

He had already learned about the Hunter organization online before and was deeply amazed by its existence at the time, but he didn't expect the actual situation to be even more powerful than he imagined.

"Otherwise, why do you think so many people are desperate to join?" Yun Gu said with a smile.

Kevin nodded admiringly: "Hearing you say that, I'm even more excited about the Hunter Exam."

While continuing to gather information, Yun Gu briefly introduced:

"The so-called [Secret Realm] refers to a secret area, which usually contains one or more rare materials.

These materials are either extremely difficult to collect, or the conditions for obtaining them are very strict, and they are often accompanied by a certain degree of danger.

Various professional Hunters, such as Beast Hunters, Treasure Hunters, Ruin Hunters, and Secret Realm Hunters, are all interested in these types of places and will accept commissions to enter them to explore or collect items."

"Oh! That sounds very interesting!" Kevin couldn't help but his eyes lit up, his face full of excitement.

Bisky also interjected: "Those fish scales just now were actually obtained in a Secret Realm in a certain sea area. That strange fish seems to be a mutated variant of its original species."

At this, Kevin's interest grew even stronger.

Yun Gu continued: "The [Demon Realm], however, is completely different.

Most [Demon Realms] are areas that have been sealed off for various reasons, and they are full of danger.

There may be dangerous species, harsh environments, mysterious ruins, and even dangerous Nen Ability products.

The work of professional Hunters such as Monster Hunters, Ruin Hunters, Troubleshooter Hunters, and Toxin Hunters may be related to the [Demon Realm]."

This did sound a bit dangerous, but it also seemed to have a unique kind of fun.

"Can I just enter these places freely after getting a Hunter License?"

Yun Gu nodded: "Of course, in fact, most of these two types of places are designated and set up by the Hunter Headquarters.

And basically, all nature reserves are open to licensed Hunters. You really should go and get a Hunter License."

Subsequently, Kevin stood behind Yun Gu, watching him search for various information about rare materials.

After this browsing, Kevin got to see more hidden wilderness information.

Monsters that looked like dinosaurs, and some people even claimed to have seen gigantic creatures as majestic and tall as mountains.

All sorts of strange and bizarre creatures, as if they should only appear in fantasy works, emerged one by one.

There were also giant birds living on 1,700-meter-tall trees, with bodies more than ten times the size of humans.

Wait!

A 1,700-meter-tall tree? What kind of concept is that?

Oh, never mind.

This is already another world; he should be used to strange things by now.

After reading these materials, Kevin wrote down a few things he was more interested in and couldn't help but exclaim: "This world is truly amazing; there are unknown territories beyond the outer sea. How big is this world, anyway?"

"Beyond the world?" Yun Gu also subconsciously stroked his chin; exploring unknown worlds has always been a dream for many Explorer Hunters.

Watching the two young people express such exclamations, Bisky, sitting behind them, had a hint of thought in her eyes.

Indeed, most Hunters, in the end, still find it difficult to suppress their curiosity about the Dark Continent.
