The recovery chamber doors slid open quietly.
A tall figure stepped inside, boots clicking softly against the polished floor.
Instructor Mei Ying.
Her sharp eyes swept across the room in a single glance—three prodigies lying on recovery beds, the remaining members sitting nearby, all wrapped in bandages, bruises still fresh, spiritual auras fluctuating unevenly.
"…Good," she said calmly."You're awake. That means the healers did their job."
Chen Wulian smirked weakly.
"Barely."
Ling Yifan shifted on his bed, ribs protesting beneath the bindings.
"Instructor," he said evenly,"we need an explanation."
Mei Ying raised an eyebrow.
"Oh?"
Chen didn't waste time.
"We killed a Dragon-tier monster," he said bluntly."The only team that did."
Ouyang Xue'er folded her arms.
"And yet we ranked sixth."
Bai Qianlan nodded slightly.
"That doesn't add up."
Long Hao remained silent, but his eyes were sharp, focused.
