Chapter 111 - Chapter 111: The Transfer Student is Actually a Demon Hunter?

Chapter 111: The Transfer Student is Actually a Demon Hunter? Forks Doesn't Do Idle Time!

The time for goodbyes had finally arrived.

The Addams Family mansion's gate, which Gomez had personally demolished with his car, had been crudely reassembled by the butler, Lurch, using some iron railings and what appeared to be coffin lids excavated from the family cemetery, presenting an even more twisted and postmodern Gothic aesthetic.

"Edward! My dear friend!" Gomez enthusiastically spread his arms and gave Edward a bear hug strong enough to crack a normal person's ribs. "The Addams Family mansion's doors are forever open to you! Whenever you return, there will be cigars and the guillotine waiting for you!"

"Thanks, Gomez," Edward said with a smile, patting him on the back. "Give my regards to Fester as well."

At this moment, the real Uncle Fester was with Pugsley in the swampy part of the courtyard, testing a newly invented explosive device, with muffled detonations and excited cheers from the two periodically echoing across the grounds.

Morticia walked over gracefully. She plucked the most vibrant bloom from a Venus flytrap in the garden and handed it to Edward. In the center of the flower, half a dragonfly wing still remained.

"May your journey, like this flower, be filled with surprises and... sustenance," her words carried a unique blessing—one belonging to the Addams Family.

Edward took the flower, which emitted a sickly sweet, rotting scent, and nodded solemnly. He looked at Wednesday, who was standing in the back.

The little girl still wore her usual expressionless face, just quietly watching him.

"I will visit 'Devil May Cry' again," she said abruptly, her voice as cold and clear as an epitaph. "I must witness the results of Victor's memory transplant experiment firsthand."

"You're always welcome," Edward said as he mounted Fenrir. "But don't blow up his lab."

Wednesday's lips seemed to twitch upward by an imperceptible millimeter.

Fenrir's engine roared, carrying Edward away from this mansion full of the macabre and the heartwarming. In the rearview mirror, the Addams Family stood in a row, waving enthusiastically, and even the butler Lurch let out a few incomprehensible groans, as if bidding him farewell.

From gloomy New Jersey to the perpetually rainy Pacific Northwest, the scenery changed dramatically along the way. Edward didn't encounter any more supernatural incidents; the journey was surprisingly smooth. When Fenrir's tires rolled onto the rain-slicked asphalt roads of Forks, the air was thick with the fresh scent of pine and wet earth.

The sky here was perpetually gray, as if eternally shrouded by a thick blanket of clouds; sunlight was a rare commodity. For certain creatures, this was undoubtedly paradise.

Edward found a motel to crash at, and the first thing he did was call home to check in.

"Hey, Mom, I made it."

Sarah's gentle voice came through the phone: "That's wonderful. Was the trip okay? How's Forks? I heard it rains constantly there—remember to layer up."

"Everything's fine, Mom, don't worry."

"Edward!" The phone was snatched by Lily, the little demon whining in her sweetest voice, "When are you coming home? Emma's doing dissection experiments on my dolls again!"

"Let her play," Edward's voice carried amusement. "Tell her she can try live specimens next time. And Marquis, don't think I don't know you scared Esther into wetting the bed again."

Lily on the other end let out a guilty, nervous laugh.

After the brief call with his family, Edward settled in, and the next morning, he rode Fenrir to Forks High School.

After a friendly and efficient "discussion" with the principal, Edward was escorted by a teacher named Mr. Varner to his temporary classroom. The teacher rambled the entire way, rattling off the illustrious history of Forks High School and how wholesome and welcoming the students were.

When Edward walked into the classroom, the noisy chatter instantly died. Everyone's gaze, like metal shavings drawn to a magnet, locked onto him in unison.

Immediately after, another figure followed him in—a brown-haired girl who looked somewhat shy and awkward.

"Alright, everyone, settle down!" Mr. Varner clapped his hands, a practiced smile on his face. "Today we have two new students joining our class. They'll be spending some time with us. Come on, let's give them a warm welcome!"

Scattered applause broke out, but there was more whispered gossip.

"Whoa, that guy is seriously hot, right?"

"Yeah, look at him... he's even more built than Edward Cullen!"

"The girl next to him is pretty too, but she looks kinda nervous. The guy's totally stealing the spotlight though."

"I wonder who they are. Forks hasn't had newcomers this interesting in forever."

Mr. Varner cleared his throat, signaling for quiet. "Alright, you two, how about you introduce yourselves?" He looked at Edward. "You first, young man?"

Edward walked to the center of the front of the room. He scanned the classroom, his gaze lingering for a moment on a few unusually pale faces, but he didn't spot the guy who shared his name.

He smiled slightly and said, "Hey everyone, my name is Edward Connor, and I'm here as an exchange student for one month."

His voice was clear and magnetic, causing several girls in the classroom to blush.

"As for my hobbies..." Edward paused deliberately, the smile on his face becoming somewhat mischievous. "I enjoy hunting vampires and werewolves."

As his words landed, there was first dead silence in the classroom, followed by an eruption of laughter.

"Ha! This guy's hilarious!"

"Hunting vampires? Dude must binge too much Supernatural!"

"Awesome! I'm giving this intro ten out of ten!"

The students all took it as classic American humor, and the atmosphere instantly lightened up. Only a few students in the corner of the classroom looked somewhat uncomfortable after hearing that statement.

Edward didn't pay attention to everyone's reactions; his objective had already been achieved. He simply walked calmly off the platform and found an empty seat by the window.

"Alright, alright," Mr. Varner said, smoothing things over with a chuckle. "Mr. Connor certainly has a sense of humor. Now, next..."

His gaze turned to the brown-haired girl still standing at the front.

The girl seemed nervous. She took a deep breath and said, "My name is Bella Swan."
