Chapter 103: Edward Makes His Grand Entrance and Explodes a Boil Monster With One Finger!
Lily's words were light and airy, as if she were merely commenting on a boring show, but to Carrie's ears, they sent a chill down her spine.
She didn't have time to dwell on it, as the situation had already changed in an instant.
Although Colonel Dale was brave, he was ultimately fighting with only a knife, while his opponents were two deformed monsters with superior strength and size, completely fearless of death.
"Hraaah!" The short, stocky cannibal's hatchet whistled as it swung down again. Dale agilely leaned back, the blade almost grazing his nose.
He took the opportunity to kick the creature's knee, but the stocky cannibal merely swayed, seemingly unfazed by pain, and swung his hatchet horizontally in retaliation.
On the other side, the tall, skeletal cannibal crouched like a spider, using all four limbs to pounce on Dale from the side at an unnatural angle, his bony fingers spread wide, nails black and long, aiming directly for Dale's throat.
Caught between them, there was no escape!
Carrie's heart leaped into her throat. She couldn't just stand by and watch this man, who had stepped up to protect them, die here!
In that split second, Carrie's right hand quietly spread open at her side.
An invisible, subtle force precisely acted on a slippery stone beneath the stocky cannibal's foot.
The stocky cannibal was swinging his hatchet with full force when his foot suddenly slipped. His entire body lost balance, and his powerful horizontal swing consequently deviated from its intended trajectory, hitting nothing but air.
"There's my opening!" Colonel Dale's combat instincts were razor-sharp. He didn't even question why his opponent had stumbled; his body had already reacted. He suddenly ducked, dodging the tall cannibal's pounce, and the combat knife in his hand stabbed upward like lightning!
"Shhnk!"
The knife cleanly plunged into the tall cannibal's lower jaw and emerged through his mouth.
The tall cannibal's strange cry cut off abruptly, and his body twitched as he fell.
"Raaaagh!" The stocky cannibal, having missed his attack and lost his companion, completely lost it. He abandoned all strategy, raising his hatchet and wildly hacking at Colonel Dale like a maniac. Colonel Dale calmly dodged, searching for an opportunity to deliver a killing blow.
"Let's go, Carrie." Lily tugged at Carrie's sleeve, a hint of impatience on her face. "This guy's taking forever."
Emma said nothing, her gaze fixed on the fallen tall cannibal, seemingly regretting not having the chance to study his unusual joint structure.
Esther clutched a sharp rock in her hand, nervously watching the fight.
Carrie ignored Lily's urging, knowing it wasn't time to leave yet.
She watched Colonel Dale maneuver through the storm of attacks, his forehead already glistening with sweat, knowing his stamina was running low.
"Die!" The stocky cannibal roared, using all his strength to raise his hatchet high and bring it down with everything he had!
It seemed Colonel Dale wouldn't have time to dodge this blow.
Carrie's eyes narrowed, and her telekinesis activated again!
"CRACK!"
A thick branch from a half-dead tree nearby snapped without warning, landing squarely on the back of the stocky cannibal's head.
The stocky cannibal's movements suddenly froze, and the impact caused him to stumble forward. That momentary pause sealed his fate.
Colonel Dale moved in like a phantom, his knife carving a deadly arc, precisely slicing open the creature's throat.
Blood gushed out, and the stocky cannibal clutched his neck, falling to the ground.
The fight was over.
Colonel Dale leaned on his knees, breathing heavily.
He glanced at the broken branch, then at the four unharmed girls, his brow furrowing slightly, but ultimately he didn't ask questions.
"You girls okay? It's too dangerous here—follow me!" He wiped blood from his face, his tone brooking no argument.
He knew the direction Jonesy and Amber had fled, and he also knew there were more than just these two monsters in this forest.
He had to find other survivors as quickly as possible, then locate a safe stronghold.
Carrie nodded, pulling her three reluctant "sisters" to follow closely behind Colonel Dale.
Meanwhile, in a foul-smelling camp deep within the forest, true horror was unfolding.
This was the cannibals' lair, filled with human skeletons and rotting organs. In a large metal cage, the missing Nina huddled trembling in a corner.
Before her, in a bowl made from a skull, was a bloody, half-cooked, shapeless mass.
A cackling cannibal, holding a spear, poked Nina through the bars. "Eat! Eat it!"
Nina looked at the contents of the bowl, her stomach churning, and she gagged. She recognized it—it was... human flesh.
Not far from the cage, Jack was tied to a wooden post, letting out horrific, inhuman screams.
A female cannibal who'd just given birth, her belly still distended, grinned as she took a bloody mass from her companion's hand—it was... an organ freshly cut from Jack's lower body. She let out a "hehehehe" cackle and stuffed the thing into her mouth, chewing.
Despair, pure despair, filled the place.
Just as Nina thought she was doomed, a roar and screams suddenly erupted from the camp entrance.
Colonel Dale burst in like a force of nature! His knife flashed, instantly dropping two cannibals guarding the entrance.
"Move! Anyone who wants to live, grab a weapon!" Colonel Dale roared at Nina in the cage, simultaneously kicking away an attacking cannibal and driving his knife into the creature's eye socket.
The cannibals in the camp went berserk. They let out inhuman cries, pouring out from every corner—at least five or six of them—surrounding Colonel Dale.
"Carrie! Keep them safe!" Colonel Dale shouted to Carrie, who'd followed him in. He knew that in the coming fight, he couldn't spare any attention for the girls.
Carrie nodded, shielding the three little girls behind her, nervously watching the battle.
However, the three little ones had no intention of staying put.
"That pregnant one looks interesting." Lily tilted her head, pointing at the female cannibal holding a baby, a naive yet cruel smile on her face.
"Her pelvic structure must've changed from childbirth; I wonder if she can still move normally." Emma analyzed coolly.
Esther said nothing, merely silently picking up a discarded, sharpened bone from the ground.
The three little girls exchanged glances, then, as if by unspoken agreement, bypassed the fierce battle and walked toward the female cannibal holding the baby and making "hehehehe" sounds.
The female cannibal was absorbed in tormenting her prey and didn't notice the approach of three "little snacks."
"Hey, your laugh is really annoying." Lily walked up to her, looked up, and said bluntly.
The female cannibal paused, lowered her misshapen head, and looked at the delicate little girl before her, confusion and hunger flickering in her clouded eyes. She opened her mouth, seemingly about to let out a threatening sound.
But then she saw that all three little girls had an incomprehensible, cold expression on their faces.
It wasn't the fear prey should show, but rather... the indifference one shows toward something already dead.
"Hehe..." Her laughter caught in her throat, becoming dry and strange.
On the other side, Colonel Dale's battle had reached its climax.
Though he was skilled, he was outnumbered. In a moment of distraction, his back was deeply slashed, and blood instantly soaked his tank top.
"Watch out—above!" Carrie suddenly cried out.
A cannibal had climbed onto a high wooden platform, drew his bow, and aimed an arrow at Colonel Dale, who was surrounded!
"Twang—"
The arrow whistled through the air, aimed directly at Colonel Dale's back!
Carrie's eyes widened, and her telekinesis activated instantly! The high-speed arrow trembled strangely in mid-air, its trajectory subtly deflected, flying past Colonel Dale's body!
Colonel Dale seemed to have a sixth sense. Feeling the wind from the arrow, he sharply turned and threw his knife like lightning!
"Thunk!"
The knife struck the archer square between the eyes. He didn't even have time to scream before falling from the platform.
Colonel Dale thought his instincts had saved his life. He didn't have time to think further, turning to face a cannibal wielding a bone club.
Seeing this, Carrie didn't hesitate to help again. She silently used her telekinesis to trip a cannibal attempting to attack from the side, allowing Colonel Dale to seize the opening and kill his opponent.
The tide of battle began to turn in their favor thanks to Carrie's covert assistance.
Colonel Dale seized the chance to rush to the cage, cutting the chain with one slash, and pulled the terrified Nina out. "Come on, let's go!"
Nina was pulled free, her legs weak, but when she saw a cannibal crawling on the ground nearby—his thigh slashed by Colonel Dale—towering rage overwhelmed her fear.
She shrieked, rushing toward the still-operating meat grinder in the corner of the camp, used for processing "food," and with all her might, forced the cannibal's head into it!
"AAAAHHH—!"
Accompanied by the sickening sound of bones crunching and a gory scene, the cannibal's screams abruptly ceased.
No one dared to linger, and led by Colonel Dale, they rushed out of that living hell.
As they were about to escape the forest and saw the lights at the edge of the camp, everyone breathed a sigh of relief.
However, just then, a tall, bloated figure blocked their path.
It was the pus monster that Carrie had previously thrown back into the cabin! The boils on its body pulsed even more violently, and its roars were filled with endless rage.
Colonel Dale's expression hardened, and he gripped his knife tighter.
Carrie felt dizzy; her mental energy was almost completely depleted.
Everyone's hearts sank.
Just at this moment of despair—
"SPLAT!"
A dull yet sharp explosion.
The arrogant pus monster's disproportionately small head exploded instantly like a watermelon struck by a sledgehammer, red and white matter mixed with foul-smelling pus splattering everywhere.
The massive headless corpse swayed, then crashed to the ground.
Everyone stared in shock at the scene, only to see a familiar figure slowly emerge from behind the fallen monster's body.
Edward stood with one hand in his pocket, a faint wisp of smoke still rising from the fingers of his other hand.
He looked at Colonel Dale, covered in blood, the traumatized Nina, the mentally exhausted Carrie, and the three "sisters" who looked only slightly dirty with hints of excitement on their faces, and a familiar smile played on his lips.
"I only took a quick nap, and you guys are already having this much fun?"
